Fair warning: if I find one image of man nipples that is not at least two clicks away from this thread I will immediately go running to Mod 0whatever like a little girl and complain about the sexist application of the rules!!!

And hairy man nipples must be at least three clicks away or I shall find where you live and come Ralph all over your keyboard!

For clarifaction the McFarlane was sarcasm that just happens to be the least attrotious of his work.

And Bobby you do that again and I'll....just don't do that again.

I can't post my favorite illustrator of the male body, on account of this forum being for a Teen rated game...

It would appear as if he has... perhaps he can MSPaint in a censor box? I am curious...

I can't really find any good images of his male characters online, but Mark Schultz is very good for drawing both male and female figures. More of a lyrical, old school style.

Are you referring to Tom of Finland? If yes, then there are plenty of "G-rated" drawings that can be shared appropriately for this forum.

Only let's not forget the true founding father of pulp fiction pectoral covers - Doc Savage!

Can't post links because most of his work's NSFW, but Tim Vigil also has a tremendous talent for both male and female forms. A bit hairy, lol, but the characters in Gothic Nights were just astounding. (it's an adult only book, be warned if you search for it.)

I searched for Tim Vigil and found this.

Then I found his DA account.

Not that my opinion counts for crap, but Rob Leifield is probably the least talented or anatomically knowledgable artist in the business. Besides the above critiques, he draws the worst feet I've ever seen.

To me, Jim Lee has a "distant" similarity in his line work, but he is vastly more talented and polished. His art simply rocks!

I've always been a big John Byrne/Terry Austin fan myself and Alex Ross is just amazing!

Leifeld's work is far too busy and appears rushed, he uses lines where shading or highlights would have sufficed. This is made worse by the fact that he has a penchant for dramatic action scenes that make your eyes wiggle.

Lee's work is definitely cleaner and more polished! I'm not totally sure what this is though!

I'm also a huge fan of Alex Ross. I dig the photo-realistic quality of his work.

Oh, and lest we forget George Perez for the classic comic book look.

For me, the best male characters--from a comic book standpoint at any rate--are drawn by artists who've learned how to portray two key things:

1. chiseled anatomy that's accurate, if exaggerated

2. a certain gravitas, conveying strength and inner depth

So for me, the two artists who best exemplify these qualities would be Dale Keown and Joe Madureira. Their guys just ooze 'awesome'. Hulk's never looked as tough or as cool as when Keown drew him, and Mad's guys just seem larger than life, virtually bursting off the printed page.

I find that most other artists' portrayals of guys just look wimpy in comparison when you stack them up against these two, regardless of how well they might be drawn. Silvestri gets points for the best Johnny Depp-type 'pretty' boys, Jim Lee's characters always exude strength and cool, and Alex Ross has a lock on drawing superheroes that look real, but when you get right down to it, Keown and Mad are the two that make me the most jealous.

I don't think that man has ever drawn a foot.

Just to put this in here, if McFarlane didn't have such a terrible interpretation of anatomy, we wouldn't have some of the most iconic images of Spiderman. To quell future flames, that's the only good thing I can say about his art.

I would never have guessed these two!

Ditto. I did a google image search though, and now I get it. There's a definite Keown influence to his work. I like Joey Mads almost anime exaggerations, but colored pencils aren't my favorite look. I miss that deep black from ink work. Darkened pencils loose their subtlety when they're made to look like inks, you would never lighten inks and then color them... makes no sense to me, it's lazy. You're better than that David, don't let me catch you falling into such bad habits! I will go all Misery on you. Okay maybe not that far... I'm kidding, seriously, I am... *
