Who IS #1 for farming
SS/Fire Brute
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
dunno about blueside but redside I'd have to say probably EM/SA/Mu
I was looking for BLUE SIDE answers; however, if you want to compare please do so with in the confines of BLUE and RED side respectfully (Until GR). So your pick for RED side is SS/Fire/? Missing the PPP...and your pick for Blue side is?
i think he means elm/sd/mu brute.....

As for who is #1?
Blaster: Arch/MM/Cold
Controller: Fire/Kin/Fire
Defender: Kin/Arch/Psi
Scrapper: Spines/(Fire, /Dark, /Elec)/Blaze, Elec/Shield/*
Tanker: Shield/Elec/*, Elec/Fire/Pyre, Fire/Fire/Pyre
They're all #1, take your pick.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

Fire/kin doing BM or Demon Farm
Ss/fire brute elec/fire brute or fire/elec melee tank
@KoolVirus
I use an Elec/Invuln... more or less just because. I had an SS/WP who was capable of doing it, but I get irritated by Rage downtime. I'd also never done an invuln character to a high level. So I made one over last double exp event, threw some IOs at her, and farm.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

With that said, here are some of the faster AoE builds out there:
Fastest Brutes: SS/Fire, Elec/SD, SS/WP
Fastest Scrappers: Spines/SR/Dark/Fire, Elec/SD
Fastest Troller: Fire/Kin, Fire/Rad, Plant/Kin
Fastest Blaster: Arch/MM
It's all about AoE DPS.
I used to farm with my crab and fort
@KoolVirus
There are loads of good choices here and it all depends what you want. A fire/kin/* might be fastest but it demands focus because it has loads of clickies and can go down in a couple of hits unless you watch for that transfusion button.
As for scrappers, an elec/SD or spines/SR might be the best for me because they demand next to no concentration to stay alive.

Its all about how much time you can spend mashing AoE buttons instead of heal buttons.
That is why my votes go for SS/Fire/Mu brutes- only need one click heal that goes off very fast, and rarely even need to use that exept running between spawns, and lay down insane AoE damage over a short time.
And Hero side I would say Elec/SD/Pyre scrapper probably, because you have no need to ever stop attacking to heal.
But out of the two, I'd lay my money on the brute in most cases. SS/Fire/Mu is the fastest I personally have ever seen.
But you also have to take into consideration the driver... you can give a bad driver a Ferrari, and he will still be slow, but give a great driver a Pinto and he will still get speed out of it. So the true #1 is the combo of great driver/great car (or in this case Player/IO'ed to the max toon)
I'm probably going to be the only one to say this, but I'd farm with a warshade.
Three fluffy balls of doom, 85% resist all, 160% damage buff, near full AoE attack chain.
Mine does very well and is quite reliable with only one purple set so far.
The plan has Eclipse overlapping by a full ten seconds!
Where to now?

I farm a bit on my fire/sr/blaze. No taunt aura sucks though(too much scatter)

My answer is...
It depends.
What is the object of the farm? Do you want XP? Recipes? Purples? Tickets? Solo or with support?
If you want XP you're better off facing level 52 or 53 mobs probably. For Recipes you want level 50 mobs. For purples you want level 49 mobs. For tickets you're probably back to 52 or 53 mobs.
You need to survive as a farmer. Melee types are usually a bit better against higher level mobs for safety reasons, but even a Fire/Kin can survive just fine when facing high level mobs when built and played right. Of course it helps if you're solo farming large spawns and get lots of Inspirations. My Fire/Psi Dom was very tough, but he could farm massive AE spawns of high level bosses when solo thanks to Inspirations. Ticket farms can be very easy to survive if you pick the mobs right. For example, a SS/Fire Brute has no problem farming mobs which do all fire damage.
Better farmers have damage buffs and big strong AoE attacks. Damage buffs include things like Aim and Build Up for Blasters, Fury for Brutes, Rage in SS, Fiery Embrace in FA, Fulcrum Shift in Kinetics, AAO in SD, etc. When farming for XP or Tickets (against very high level mobs) you may also want ToHit buffs. AoE attacks include things like Foot Stomp, Rain of Arrows, Shield Charge, and Lightning Rod. With enough Recharge reduction, you can use even the long recharge ones fairly often.
Finally, you need to go non-stop. Farming solo, you can probably get by on dropped Inspirations. If not, you'll need an END Recovery power.
Put it all together and you'll see that SS/Fire Brutes are very strong redside. They get Foot Stomp and Blazing Aura for AoE damage, plus usually Mu Mastery for even more damage. Burn on Immobilized targets is fun. They get lots of Fury. They get Rage which can easily be made perma, and some people try to stack it. That makes it easy to go after high level mobs. Fiery Embrace is just meh when added on top of all of that, and it has a long recharge. Healing Flames will keep you alive, and Consume will keep you going.
Elec/Shield Brutes also do well when built for massive Recharge, thanks to either Shield Charge and Lightning Rod being up every 15 seconds. AAO is weaker than Rage, but it doesn't crash. SD lacks healing and END Recovery, but capped Defense makes up for a lot. Solo, Inspirations should make up for those holes.
Blueside people have covered the options. Fire/Kins are still great thanks to their AoE damage and FS, and some people will swear by them. Others will talk about Elec/Shield Scrappers, Spines/* Scrappers, Arch/MM Blasters, Fire/Fire Tanks, etc. But honestly, they all work a bit differently, and people don't play the same.
The only real way to determine which one is the fastest is to have some sort of challenge with specific parameters, like say dual-box PLing. Even then, you'll only find out which one is the fastest with those parameters.
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
In this modern age of difficulty sliders, AE Missions, and repeatable flashback missions it is hard to pick a single "best". We can tailor missions to work around the strengths and weaknesses of any build.
I prefer Tanks myself for my farming. I can setup missions with large body counts and bosses scaled down to LT's. Great for collecting recipes in large quantities.
For tanks I prefer Fire/SS, Shield/SS, Shield/Elec (Lots of fun), Fire/Fire. Fire/Elec should also do fairly well but I have not had the pleasure of trying it yet. WP/Elec is a fun build but I have not found it's sweet spot for farming yet and it is being outclassed by my Shield/Elec.
what i recall of the thread i mentioned was a discussion on footstomp vs. spin damage, which snowballed into a set vs set discussion. with double stacked follow up and fury, spin did more damage than a rage'd and fury'd footstomp, and recharged faster. evisc's cone is actually pretty wide and shockwave is wider.
but to get back on topic, i'd have to agree with topdoc's post: it all comes down to what you want to 'farm' with whatever you decide on playing. usually no matter what the OP (or farmer in question) is going to want aoe-centric sets with sustainability and survivability, which both are fixable with IO's and enough money to throw at the market. so i'd say just play what sets you find fun to kill things with, over and over and over.

fire/shield scrapper
That is the question. All things being equal, mobs, inf in build, and player ability, who is the fastest at farming? Some people say F.Kin is still number one. If you take a max built F.kin and put him up against any other build Blue side the F.Kin will win. That's not my opinion just one I am echoing from many sources. Let the debate begin, who REALLY IS the BEST?
