Given the new difficulty settings and that you can occasionally have to tweak things as you move from team to solo, to avoid running into unwanted AV's, how about a handy dandy Portable Hero Corps Communicator/Fateweaver Psychic Friends Hotline Terminal.
With the PHCC/FPFHT, you can get immediate and priority access to state of the art voice recognition systems which will allow you to change your 4XP/SRSLY settings without the inconvenience of having to find an appropriate representative. Or something. |
I like this little black book idea.
I was a little surprised that they didn't end the program at the 5 year mark. As a five year vet, I find it a little embarrassing to keep getting shinies that make other people so mad. It's also annoying that if I decide to get accounts for my family members, they will have to start at 0.
If the devs are going to keep handing out powers, then I like the idea of focusing them on quality of life fixes that make sense for more experienced players. The reveal power is a good example. So is a little black book.
I wouldn't mind a free server transfer, though. And I'm looking forward to getting more character slots. Those are gifts that effect the account, not individual characters.
I really like how many of the vet awards seem focused on giving reasons for vets to level up lowbies once more.
As such a book with phone numbers for contacts would be fit well.
ANd give out some costume codes instead of tailor tokens for the 'cossie' rewards.

I like the idea of the little black book and/or the armor idea. I've also seen it suggested somewhere for an endurace buff power or some click power that gives boost to your endurance. Perhaps a free crafted costume piece or Vanguard type pieces free.
Of course some cool new shorts, boxing gloves, wings..... No I'm just kidding on that one.
I could see the Little Black Book being a problem to implement, code-wise as the point where Contacts give you their cell phone number seems "baked in" to the structure of their arcs. As ever, I would be quite glad to be proven wrong on that count.
The idea of getting a Netbook or somesuch to pay Base Upkeep online or contact a trainer would seem easier - I can't think of any reason those functions must be tied to specific game geography. Both as they are currently mainly serve the purposes of a) time sinks and b) immersion.
As I said, paying the Base Rent online makes sense; gaining your new power online, a bit less so - then, having BABS or an Arbiter magically give you a new ability takes a bit of role-playing acrobatics, as well.
While I'm here: I vote an enthusiastic "YES!" on Rune of Warding. So cool.
Rune of warding is my favorite temp power of all time, but sadly it is not the 66mo reward. Should be in a post by Zombie Man on this page. The pic I copied to here is also by zombie man

How about unlocking auras at character creation?
Not directly useful, but amusing fluff. At this point i'm fine with nothing but the occasional respec, costume and character slot token, but that's just me.
I serieously have stopped giving a damn!
I'd like the Blue King CoH comic covers as base items...
Those awesome costume pieces that they aren't putting into Booster Packs.
Demonic
Power Suit
Thugs/gangsters
Soldiers
etc.
You know what else I'd like as a vet reward? Those costume toggle powers that they give away at cons and as awards for contests and stuff. I'd love to have that PPD Hardsuit one.
I'd really like a choosable permanent Halloween costume power. The Halloween costumes are a lot of fun and having one permanently would be great.
are we really lacking power suit options?? I'm counting a number of full tech suit options so maybe there are other less filled niches. To the question at hand, unless we see a token styled system in place, adding more stuff is just going to put more things out of reasonable reach of most newer players. Its not a concern for me since i have been here since near the beginning, but for newer players, its a bit unreasonable.

For now, I just want my 66 month reward. It's 20 days overdue. I just sent in a support ticket. I haven't seen any information in the forums that suggests it would be arriving late.
If test server is an indication, it will come with the holiday event.
As for power suits, if you use armored options you can get the bulky power suit look.
The armored model makes you look like a bloated piece of crap. But more to the point, NO MORE ******* COSTUME PIECES AS ************* VET REWARDS!!!
I'm surprised they haven't just made a vet reward badge that globally unlocks locked *earnable* (not purchased) costume pieces like Vanguard, Roman, Rularuu, Auras, etc at level 1. It seems like something that would be beloved by everyone who has been hanging around for 6 years and have probably had to go through the tedious chore of unlocking costume pieces a dozen times over.
That or flag your account with a freebie coupon for a Booster Pack of your choice. If they've paid 6 years solid...what's the harm in sacrificing 10 bucks?
A free month of play for each year played.
A free character slot for each year played.
Base ownership, no more rent. Finally paid that sucker off!
A free costume code for each year played.
A free booster pack of choice.
A vets booster pack containing PC versions of much asked for NPC costume parts.
That last one wasn't a real suggestion, justed wanted to see how many people it would cheese off.
