Walk power improvements
That's my point. We don't have any travel powers with multiple animations, be it in a single power or multiple powers. All of the prestige sprints have different visual effects, but use the same animations.
I think some of you guys are making the assumption that because we can have different visual effects for travel powers, and other powers can have both different VFX and different animations, that travel powers could also have different animations...but that's not the case. Movement modes are not the same as powers. |
I'm sure Paragon's Type-R code monkeys will think of something. Eventually.

I'm still at a loss, was there really this much demand for this feature to be added?

I still do not see, any benefit other than strutting your stuff on the catwalk under atlas. |

I want walk to have a 1% chance of triggering Self Destruction every 10 seconds. That will be much more fun than a new animation.

ROFL, the new power is out for under a week and someone is already trying to improve it.
The only addition to Walk that I'd really like to see is the facility to deactivate it by simply clicking Sprint or using the key command for same. Mainly that's because if I'm walking somewhere and I then want to 'leap into action' Sprint is the first power I instinctively go for.

My apologies for not being clear, I was referring more to the base Sprint and Prestige Power Slide. Aren't they both included in the broader "Sprints" category?

I love that I can walk, BABs, and thank you for taking the time rigging it up, but it would be nice to have my characters be able to walk without heels once in a while.
Well, that didn't take long. "Yay, it's that bowl of oatmeal I've been pestering you about for years! ... What, no brown sugar?"
If you give a mouse a cookie.... He is going to want a glass of milk...
If you give a Fanboy something he wants... He will complain you didn't do it right and demand you do it 10 more times.
Edit: I love the new Ninja Run and Walk "travel modes" just the way they are. Customization of these power would be nifty, but there have to be so many other things I can think of that would be priority.
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?" - The Joker
Just because something would be nice doesn't mean what we have isn't also nice. Nor does it mean we're demanding more. But if BABs is listening, it can't hurt to mention some adjustments.
Really all I'd want is the ability to choose which of the three animations I use, regardless of toon.

I then switched to a toon that had both builds leveled up to 50 and when I switched builds, there was no suppression of Walk or NR. And yes, both builds are level 50.
I'll make a video to show it in action, i guess (except fraps doesn't like showing my cursor...)
[EDIT] Uhm, as i was attempting to record proof of this bug... it, uhm, started working normally >_>
Bizzare, yo.

If you give him some milk, hell want more.
If you give a mouse more milk, hell develop a taste for human blood.
If he develops a taste for human blood, hell become a vampire.
If he becomes a vampire, hell have to make followers.
Now, if he makes some followers, theyll need to feed.
If they feed too much, the National Guard will be called out.
If the National Guard is called out, they, too, will become fodder for the vampires.
If the National Guard fails, the President will call in a nuclear strike.
If a nuke is dropped, hundreds of thousands of people will die. America will become a nuclear wasteland and collapse. With no one to keep the rest of the worlds nukes in check, every crackpot nation will launch their own. Eventually the entire earth will be destroyed.
Basically the problem with walking and fighting is that it would require a lot of animations to be done. Nice for a paid for booster pack (ninja pack) but not for a project that is done in spare time. The solution used now is to switch all powers of and graying them out. If you want to fight, detoggle and go.
What about the idea that while you are walking you can activate any power you want but that will result in dropping you into normal running mode?

Thanks for walk. Its awesome.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
. . . I pretty much do not pick them these days just because it clutters up my inherent powers worse.

I took the alternate sprints on ONE alt, and never did it again.
I sure didn't want all those powers cluttering up my Manage Enhancements screen,
but there they stay, forever, if you accept them.
Now I get NR and Walk, two more powers cluttering up the Manage Enhancements real estate.
For no reason...
If I cannot enhance them, they should not take up that space.
.

That, and both Walk and Ninja Run seem to have different movement modes, with Ninja Run being usable in battle (it seems to auto-default to regular combat stances), so it's only natural to ask if it's possible or plausible that this will be extended. I'm pretty sure I heard that just adding duplicate powers for everything is NOT going to happen (and I wouldn't want to see it happen anyway), but it IS a natural question to ask if this might show up as more proper customization at some point.

Speaking of which, can't you just collapse all but the slide into one power now and make the effects unlockable power customizations?

Yes, I'm all for power more customization, but look at what happened with walk, which sounds like something BABs did with a little bit of extra time since a decent amount of people wanted it for a while so he put it together quickly for them. And some of the first responses were "But I wanted to walk THAT way, not THIS way!" I would rather see the epic ATs, epic pools, mastermind primaries, and power pools get customization before all that personally.
Walk is great. Now I want the power to Moonwalk...

The issue I have with Walk is a minor one, and mostly shows the depths of my not-quite-OCD...
It's the icon, see. It doesn't match the others. The little guy has actual feet and the border around him is sharp, not anti-aliased. Compare to Sprint to see what I mean.
I know it's very possible that the person who did those icons back in Issue -1 isn't even with Paragon Studios anymore, but... I want my little Helvetica Man/pill person to look like all the others.

As for emotes that allow you to change running animations, I don't think this is the way the devs want to do it.

It would be a great improvement if instead of the Vet Reward granting you four (or so) additional walks, that it unlocked the ability to 'customize' your normal walk with the four nice additional VFX types.

Still here, even after all this time!
