Open world for both Factions
first of all, open world is for the pve not the pvp.
villains won't be able to dual you or even talk with you. and game effects to annoy you?dude..the game don't have many subs, you won't see many battles on your way, besides, you have a real problem if it will distrub you, i mean....its a little bit extreme. |
That's fine, but not only will your Heroes not be able to visit the Rogue Isles and your Villains unable to visit Paragon City... NONE of your characters will be able to visit Praetoria.

130,000?Champions Online maybe don't have a millions players but they sure have a similar number, and many people came from CoX, maybe alot have come back but the number is smaller thats for sure.

Seriously, you're about one more horribly misinformed and my-opinion-is-fact post from jumping in my ignore box.

So basically, this is all about YOU not wanting to shell out $30 bucks for Going Rogue, then?
That's fine, but not only will your Heroes not be able to visit the Rogue Isles and your Villains unable to visit Paragon City... NONE of your characters will be able to visit Praetoria. |
you will stay go as a hero to paragon and a villain to rogue isles, its a nice thing for the people who dont have alts, but its not open world.
|
Heroes can only go to Praetoria and Paragon City.
Vigilantes can go to Praetoria, Paragon City and the Rogue Isles
Rogues can go to Praetoria, the Rogue Isles and Paragon City
Villains can only go to Praetoria and the Rogue Isles.
Far as I'm concerned, you have two factions that can go everywhere and one place where EVERYONE can go to. Problem solved?
*edit*
what is so wrong with making the world twice as big for the player, i'm talking about the majorty of the MMOs, people who play with only 1 toon, at 1 faction. |

I know they exist (they do in COX *waves to GG*) but I doubt they are a majority

To further explain, for the OPs benefit:
When Going Rogue hits, there will be four main factions to the game, rather than two. (well, six if you count the two for charcters started in Praetoria)
Hero: Only have access to Paragon
Vigilante: Still considered Hero (for market purposes) but has access to both Paragon and Rogue Isles, and can team with Villains doing Villain content
Rogue: Still considered Villain (for market purposes) but has access to both Paragon and Rogue Isles, and can team with Heroes doing Hero content
Villain: Only have access to Paragon
This, as far as I can tell *is* your suggestion. Folks able to explore both sides of the game, even with factions intact.
EDIT: Damn. Too slow.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
You really have no clue how the system will work, do you? You have four factions: Heroes, Vigilantes, Rogues and Villains. Here's how it breaks down:
Heroes can only go to Praetoria and Paragon City. Vigilantes can go to Praetoria, Paragon City and the Rogue Isles Rogues can go to Praetoria, the Rogue Isles and Paragon City Villains can only go to Praetoria and Paragon City. Far as I'm concerned, you have two factions that can go everywhere and one place where EVERYONE can go to. Problem solved? *edit* What's so wrong with replacing all trees with giant lollipops and all paved streets with giant bumper stickers? It doesn't make any sense. If you have an actual, solid idea about how heroes and villains can coexist in their own zones without introducing PvP AT ALL, then by all means, share it. If not, then do like we do and wait for Going Rogue. |
from what i understand, you do a number of missions as a hero/villain and change to the second faction.

ok great, vigilante/rogue is basicaly what i asked, i dont see why i needed to see 20 posts of how visual effects will distrube you and how bad a open world would be.
but the game will arleady be open world in GR so..what was the point of all that flaming besides my grammer?
so in GR you can become a vigilante/rogue and stop being a hero/villain?

Hero ---> Vigilante ---> Villain
Villain --> Rogue -----> Hero
Vigilante's and Rogues are intermediate stages between Hero and Villain. If you put the work in, you can go Hero > Vigilante > Villain > Rogue > Hero.
As a vigilante, you only have access to the Consignment House. As a Rogue, you can only use the Black Market. It isn't until you fully switch that you get access to the other economy. Whether or not you can bring items / money with you is up for debate.
Vigilantes and Rogues have access to both zones. A vigilante can go to Cap au Diable, do some newspaper missions, experience the content there. Likewise a Rogue can go to Talos Island and meet contacts there.
PvP zones are an odd one. We haven't got any official word about how vigilantes and rogues will interact with zones like Siren's Call.
Finally, Praetoria is a co-op land. Heroes, vigilantes, villains, and rogues can all team up and do Praetoria stuff.

There will of course NOT be a PVP flag with GR

If the LotRO devs said that, then they're either utter morons, deluding themselves, or flat-out lying to whoever they made that statement to.
Before WoW was released, 100,000 subscribers was considered "doing well" for an MMO (CoH numbers: approx. 130,000). World of Warcraft is an anomaly fueled by creator recognition, brand name recognition, and funding out the wazoo.
I can quite literally guarantee that adding the ability for players to visit opposing faction territory to an existing MMO will not boost its subscriber base by a significant fraction of WoW's subscriber base.
