Voices of the NPCs
I don't know how many of you are old enough, but I hear Mr. Bocor with the voice of that guy who was shilling for Jamaica in the old travel commercials.

Yes, he'd make a fantastic Mr. Bocor.

To me, everyone is voiced by Tony Jay.
That's why I've been playing for five years.
Do you mean Geoffrey Holder, of the 7-up ads campaign? (And he also appeared as Punjab in the 1982 version of ANNIE, if memory serves...)
Yes, he'd make a fantastic Mr. Bocor. Michelle aka Samuraiko/Dark_Respite |
That's him.
Peter Cullen's "Optimus Prime" voice is who I hear as Statesman.

Lord Recluse is voiced by the late great Mike Kleinhenz, especially his performance as Lucifer in LADY DEATH. |
Hmmm, I can't think of any others off the top of my head...tired. Although it's a tad tempting to make Christian Bale (Aka Batman) play Manticore
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.
|
But...Recluse already HAS a voice. It's on the old cinematic trailers and the screens in Grandeville. And it is AWESOME.

Crimson - Michael Madsen, without the long, bad@$$ pauses for smoking
Mark IV - Paul Bettany (the voice of Tony Stark's computer in Iron Man)
Detective Freitag -John Ashton, "Taggert" from Beverly Hills Cop
W.M. Deitrich - Michelle Pfeiffer, but mean.
Superhero genres always have room for "heavies" like Tony Jay (rest in peace, ya magnificant thespian!), Ron Perlman, Clancy Brown and Keith David.
Hire Jennifer Hale. She'll cover five or six of the heroines at least. Come to think of it, I'd like to see what she'd do with Ghost Widow. She gave a calm and knowing voice to Insa (sp?), the consort of Dr. Fate. Now, with more menace...

For Fusionette, I remember a blonde comedienne from years ago who made her schtick around her high-pitched voice, sounding as if she'd inhaled helium, playing the 'dumb blonde' routine to the hilt -- "I didn't mean to sleep with your brother... he tricked me!" in a voice almost so high only dogs would hear it...
"But in our enthusiasm, we could not resist a radical overhaul of the system, in which all of its major weaknesses have been exposed, analyzed, and replaced with new weaknesses."
-- Bruce Leverett, Register Allocation in Optimizing Compilers
For no reason I hear Mr. Bocor sounding like Fat Tony. As an alternative, Keith David has the chops.

Edit: Looks like D_R mentioned him as well...
I thought all the characters were already voiced by Gordon Freeman?
When I see Nemesis talking, I can sort of envision him with Christopher Lee's voice as he is a powerful old dude... though, whether the armour fuzzes it up with a bit of static could change that. Luminary and Nightstar I can imagine having GLaDOS' voice, woman-shaped androids just NEED a voice like that. A less metallic Dalek tone for the Rikti... maybe?

Frank Oz should do the Rikti voices. They all sound like Yoda.

I can't be the only one that hears GLaDOS when they talk to Number 204.
For some reason Sciroco sounds like Liam Neeson
Black Scorpion sounds like Bowser in Super Mario Sunshine. (Bowser comes in at 3:50 in that vid)
The Radio sounds like Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam
Synapse sounds like Axel from Kingdon Hearts
Dr. Aeon always sounds like Vizzini from the Princess Bride.

BTW, had a fun conversation with our esteemed Dr. Aeon the other day - when I asked him who he thought should voice Aeon, his remark was "Dr. Aeon sounds like Antonio Banderas... at least, that's what HE thinks he sounds like."

See, I think there are some powerful acting voices out there that haven't been mentioned yet.
- Morgan Freeman has a fantastic voice. And after seeing him in Wanted, I could easily see him as a villain. Also, he could easily play the hero living under the burden of a dark past. Listen to him in Shawshank Redemption, as well, and you'll know what I mean.
- Patrick Stewart -- British, polished, commanding. And yet, somehow vulnerable when necessary. I *could* see him as Montague Castanella.
- John Lithgow - Easily a bumbling villainous mastermind. Come on. Who can't see Lord Farquaad trying to take over the world?
- Craig T. Nelson - Voice of Mr. Incredible. Again, come on. The guy played an ICONIC hero for the modern, yuppified generation.
- Holly Hunter - Elastagirl! Stressed, trying to hold it together, with a strong sense of duty to her family and the world at large. Another fine performance.
- Leonard Nimoy - I've always thought the guy just had one of those voices. I'm not sure where or how you'd use it, but man would it be cool. Perhaps as a character like Citadel.
I like to imagine Hardcase having Ralph Wiggum's voice. Such a weenie.
Dr. Vahzilok - Colin Clive: the original Dr. Frankenstein; just imagine him saying, "It's alive!"
Lord Recluse - Michael Ironsides: voice of Darkseid, another ultimate villain
Positron - Kelsey Grammer: from the Beast to Frasier to Sideshow Bob, the guy knows how to play geniuses
I always imagined Christopher Walken as Montague Castanella.
Actions speak louder than Vets.
Nemesis's Japanese voice would be Norio Wakamoto
And randomly, anyone who could be played by Yuri Lowenthal?
