Where's my rep list?
So when I click the "User CP" button on the top of the page, all I see is my list of recent posts in subscribed threads. The list of latest rep received is not there. Rep still seems to be on on the forums, so why can't I see my recent reps? Is it because I have been repped one way or the other lately?

Which IS kinda useless unless you obsess over your posting history and view each post you have made for responses over the past month or so...

(Niviene's post is the third one on this page.)
Incorrect. They can now be viewed only from the post the rep was from.

And the mechanism is inconsistant too. If you've gotten Postive Rep for a post you get a nice pop-up DIV layer with the info on it. If you've got none you get an ugly Javascript Alert message. Urrgh/
Surely the smart thing would have been to only show comments if a user had switch on their rep. Then people offended by it could ignore it completely.
You could always hide comments by simply clicking on the minus sign in the User CP. I can't say I really understand the point of this change. Do people who turned off rep still felt compelled to check the comments every now and then ? That'd be more a personal willpower issue than a forum software one if you ask me...
While the anonymous neg rep on the forums only led to Trolling and Hard Feelings, such a system may have a use in Real Life. I saw someone with Christmas lights on their house last night. I felt like putting in their mailbox a piece of paper where I draw a big red dot and label it: "I consider Xmas lights between Thanksgiving and Dec 1 to be too early, so imagine how big a jerk I consider you."

More than a few people had complained about the fact that their comments would not stay closed, howver. And thee were some people being downright harassing and abusive through the comments becuase they new the reciever could see who sent them. i think they are a loss, but it's not fair to expect the community reps to have to police every little function of the boards for idiots.

Short and accurate version: Mods are fed up looking over reports from people who can't handle anonymous feedback that can be disabled, which might that might be trolls, or might be people voicing a disenting opinion to them.
|
Additionally, there are many, many reports of comments being made by people that are downright horrific. It's fine to be controversial, it's fine to voice your dissenting opinion, and it's fine to negative rep someone. It is not okay to treat the person you are negging like trash.
The abusive comments were probably far more likely the reason they disabled User CP comments. Not that people were complaining about them, but because people were making them.

I, for one, miss the comments. I don't give much rep, but I rather enjoyed seeing both the good and bad things people would say about my posts.

I've only ever had 2 ++ comments, but it was nice to read them. I always sign my comments and it seems a drag that now when I make a comment the person will likely not see it.
[edit]although in both cases, the ++ was because they liked my Master Roshi cosplay in my avatar rather than a ++ for some great comment I made. So clearly it's just that I want to hear more about me me me!

Granted, there is also the flip side of that, because we cannot view those comments easily and may never see them, -rep'ers wont get any satisfaction out of their griefing.
