For now the thing I'm most excited about is that I won't have to start a Villain in the Isles any longer. Those zones are the reason I don't play Villain side.

I hope the fire bullets for dual pistols can set off Oil Slick. The Smashing/Lethal only bullets should have a secondary effect like -def to make it worthwhile.

I'll probably roll a Traps/DP defender and depending on the Demon Summoning set powers, I may roll a DS/Dark MM

Ah, more info here and in dev digest, of course. I'm guessing that's how MG found out about the 70/30 damage to Dual pistols.

Some interesting stuff from that thread:

  • Mercedes Lacky and Troy Hickman Architect Entertainment guest author arcs coming soon
  • Someone asked Positron about MM customization; He turned to Marketing, who said 'we cannot answer'
  • They have Base Raid ideas/tech, but not full, and no ETA
  • No word on the new high-level content - More information on that in the months leading up to beta
  • More Cimerora/Coming Storm content coming
  • The next Super Booster is ninja related
  • Upcoming feature: You do not have to log out to switch character
  • Upcoming feature (confirmed for I17): Enemies/Objectives will be marked on the mission map when 90% of the enemies have been defeated
  • Upcoming feature: Enhancement prices will be standardized across all vendors/contacts
  • Upcoming feature: Electricity Control for Controllers (And possibly Dominatiors)

So, we have high level content coming, and I love the switch character feature without logging out. I knew about the marking objectives on the map, but I'm still excited for it. Guest author story arcs could be interesting, depending. I hope the Natural booster pack has more than just ninja stuff, but it sounds interesting.

Looking at your sig, I may get to add a kernal of hope to your search for a useful defender inherent. At the powers panel Castle was asked which AT he would next like to take a detailed look at. Defenders was the one he mentioned. I would think part of any Defender would be a look at the inherent power. No dates or anything announced of course, but it was at least something for those who like defenders.

Hmm, destructable settings in pvp? Truly knockback your foe thru the wall? Bullet holes in the scenery?

*runs off to the suggestions thread*

PS. I would suggest a Viv and Niv team-up but I'm bound to make one to many innuedos about cocking your gun...
Bang, baby.

It was in this thread.

Here's the relevant bit:

Quote:
Four types of bullets that change 30% of the damage dealt and the secondary effect:
Regular (100% Lethal dmg)
Incendiary (70% Lethal dmg/30% Fire dmg + DoT)
Cryo (70% Lethal dmg/30% Cold dmg + Speed debuff)
Chemica (70% Lethal dmg/30% Toxic dmg + Debuff of some sort(TBC))
If this is accurate... regular bullet users get the shaft. I don't mind, because I will probably still rock regular guns... especially for my Aaron Burr's ghost concept that I am definitely doing now.

MG, users of regular ammo won't necessarily get the shaft for damage... they may up the damage or do something else to compensate. I would hope they would, but no guarantees, of course. Still, Castle and co. have to know straight lethal damage will be weaker if it's the same total of a 70/30 setup.

Ugh, I almost wish I hadn't seen that video... really want to play a Dual Pistols blaster NOW. I don't care much about the whips and demon summoning, but Pistols? Heck yes. I'm glad there is another option for those that aren't looking forward to the pistols like some of us, heh.

Posi's recent clarifying comments make it pretty clear that the only downside to playing a Vigilante/Rogue is not being able to use the market:

Quote:
  • A Vigilante (Rogue) can travel to the Rogue Isles (Paragon City), and can team up with the Villains (Heroes) there. They can not use the markets while they are there however. They must be a full Villain (Hero) to use the markets.

that's odd.... Thought he said that R/Vs were still flagged as their initial type (hero/villain) and could use only the markets of that side, but could still travel to the zone of the other.

edit: I think the "They cannot use the markets while they are there however" is what I'm saying. They can only use the market of the side they were initially on.

Its sounding more and more like the ole Everquest system of having one faction love you completely to use their bank and stores, but you lose faction enough on the other side that you're KoS (kill on sight), much less able to use that faction's services.

I wonder if being a inf-runner back and forth would be a good side job?

I don't think you'll be able to transfer inf, "just" tangible items (recipes/enhancers/etc).

No, that's why he clarified. Rogue and Vigilante are "intermediate" stages. While a Rogue or Vigilante, you have access to both sides zones but can only use your originating markets.

Once you've made the full conversion from Hero -> Vigilante -> Villain, or Villain -> Rogue -> Hero, then you'll be able to access the opposite market, but only that market. No waffling.

That's how I understood it as well, which makes staying V/R even more appealing.

As far as the "smuggler" scenario, it sounds like it will take a decent amount of effort to go from Full Hero to Full Villain, so I don't think many people will do it specifically for profiting from the opposite-side market.

Thanks GP for the link. Finally saw the video and looks very nice to me. Already got a dual pistol toon thought up. And even some toons I want to drag through the whole switching sides circle.

Not really, just that Defenders have been pretty much untouched or "status quo" as an AT for a long time. They could probably use a good once-over.

I would just have to believe that the "Meh" inherent would be one of the first things to go.

Thanks GP. I generally don't spend much time poking around the forums.

Not sure there would have been much demand for that name, but I guess you're covered, now.

Pretty much have a Dual Pistols concept blaster lined up... probably will start in Praetoria with him, depending on how things work. Resistance for him as well.

Actually not confirmed. There was just some "ninja" banter, and Sexy Jay snuck some silhouetted figures into his presentation that resembled that type of character, with a sly comment about something "soon".

So while it seems logical that the next booster will have something to do with ninjas either directly or indirectly, it's still just broad hints and winks, and it could be that the ninja stuff is only a part of the booster contents.

So, unless it's turtles, it's a natural booster. :P

Yeah, definitely a Natural booster. Martial Arts is one of the more logical Natural power sets.

I always wondered what they could do for a natural theme, as they already have utility belts, martial arts attire, suits, ties, etc. So it'll be interesting to see what they do to make this one unique.

Hopefully it's better than the science one and more like the magic and cyborg sets. And it had better not have things that should just be part of the game... still not sure why they made that choice for the science pack and the body sliders.
