Just had a worrying thought - I still had one unclaimed slot from a vet reward I got a couple of weeks ago - I hope I haven't lost that.

Honestly I just wish they would link this stuff in the patcher (like they sometimes do for server maintenance) - or perhaps add a news ticker/banner to the log-in or character select screen advising of current issues (iirc EverQuest 2 has/had this).

Also, I just now logged in, and my free slots are locked out, so the bug must be sporadic.

So, before the in-game store ever ended up on the Live Servers, I had already found out about this. It's worked that way ever since.

The store is still down? I'm a pretty patient person, but 12 hours later and I still can't use something I paid for? That's pretty shoddy.

Let's say, for example, the servers that run the Online Store are down. That would cause the store to be unavailable, obviously, but may not necessarily affect anything else.
Now, say, for example, they are doing maintenance on the account management servers. Now, the store will not be available (because it can't apply anything to your account). Furthermore, anything you had already purchased, but had not yet applied would not be available either.

At least I'm not the only one this happened to. I was starting to panic a bit. ¬_¬;
Came up with a new character concept this morning, rushed home from work, deleted an old character... POOF! there went my slot. 
As long as it comes back when the store/authentication/whatever server is made available again, I won't complain, but I am a bit bummed out.

Actually had 3 available expansion slots, but they disappeared when I was rearranging my charcter order and dragged other characters on top of the empty slot...come on store wheres the store....

My slots on freedom are gone, but the ones on virtue are still their.
Had two slots available, store goes down --> poof go the slots.
And i really wanted to make a new character too.
Count me in as a memember of this club.
My better half wanted us to make a couple toons to level pact, so I deleted a toon I never play with intentions of making something new.
The toon deletes, but the slot was locked.
I will say that when I sent in petitions, I got a real nice, speedy, response from a GM.
Now it is a waiting game....I have so many toons maybe this is someones way of telling me "no more toons!"

Same happened to me just now with two slots I did not buy but earned through Vetern Rewards.. Deleted two character I had no intention of ever playing again and both slots vanished from my Virtue server character list slots.
I've lost a total of four slot since i16 due to this bug. I just delete a stalker with the intention of making another and slot is locked. That make three vet slots gone. Cahracter deleted and 10:19 AM, CST.

This is happening to everyone. Nobody is actually losing the slots. When the issue with the store is resolved, they will return. It is not I16's fault. It has worked this way since the launch of the in-game store.
Yes, it sucks. But there is nothing we can do but wait.
