Joke
You need to go to the north side of the dam, then go into the Arachnos tunnels which lead underground, back under the dam.

OK, tried and found nothing but red guys, nearly got killed. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here, this is incredibly frustrating. I really have no clue why 99% of the missions in this game, so far, are great and then this.
First off, did you find the Arachnos tunnels on the far side of the dam that lead underground?

From the wiki - http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Faultline
Arachnos Dig Site
Underneath the western portion of the zone lie a series of tunnels created by Arachnos. Several missions from Agent G send you into the tunnels, and they contain mission doors which can be used for Radio Missions. Many players have difficulty finding the tunnels, as the entrances are not obvious, and some of the mission doors are even beyond the normal map boundary, leading players to believe their mission is bugged and placed outside the zone.
There are two entrances to the Arachnos Tunnels, one north of the dam, and one south of it.
- The northern entrance is next to a dead tree at the top of Lift H.
- The southern entrance is under an Arachnos complex just south of the dam. Turn right (West) as you exit the power plant on the South side of the dam. You'll see a small bridge that leads to an Arachnos Flier landing pad. Drop down under the bridge and turn right (facing the dam). You'll see the tunnel leading downward directly ahead of you.
the hole in the ground is about 110 yds from lift H
the map coordinates are 437.5 -16.7 1479.1
this is the overbrook side of themap.

I have no clue what you are talking about, unless u r referring to the same location as the last mission (the one where u get the disguise). Which, if that's the case, I might be screwed. Anyhow, on my map, I am directed to take the door to the right of Agent G. I take it, and then it seems I'm directed to go behind (north) of the door I just went through. Of course, this is all "force field" off to me. So I search around the general area looking for tunnel or whatever and encounter red and purple guys. Seriously, I'm not trying to complain here, but, WTF?
If I need to go to the entrance of the last mission I might be in trouble since it has been a little time since I did it and can't remember exactly where it is.
If all else fails, purchase Mac Edition and use the Mission Transporter power. It will take you right to the door of the mission.
Another option is to broadcast for help on a global channel for someone who knows how to get to that mission door. Most players are generally friendly and I'm sure you can find someone who would be willing to team with you to help with the mission.
What server are you on?
Where's the joke? I don't see it.
I'm sorry, the joke is this mission. I'm actually thinking (if I ever get to it) it might be good, but the start is HORRIBLE. I finally found the tunnels thanks to all the help here, but there's almost no way I would have found it on my own, especially with the "help" of the map (which was leading me nowhere near where I needed to go).
I know this is going to offend the hardcore fans of the game, but this is the kind of crap that makes games worthless. I'm new to the game (and really want to like it), have used tons of resources available to me, tried to do things on my own and yet finding the start of this mission was incredibly difficult. That's ridiculous. I would have understood if I had trouble completing the mission because it was challenging, but, 'hey, go find this place and I'm going to do everything I can to lead you in the wrong direction' is pure crap.
IIRC, doesn't he tell you about the Arachnos tunnels in the mission briefing?
I remember doing that mission when the new Faultline came out, and it did take a bit to find it, but I still was able to find it without too much trouble (then again, I only now found out about the lower level entrance... I musta just found the higher level side too much fun to find another way )

Yes, you are correct, there is text mentioning tunnels. However, it's like "hey there are some tunnels somewhere, good luck with that". I, personally, find that to be crap. Others, I know, disagree. I might have been OK with it, if it weren't for the fact that the "location" of where I needed to go on the map wasn't in direct conflict of where I actually needed to go (causing incredible confusion). As a new player, this is very frustrating. Anyhow, I don't feel like debating, I'm old enough to know how pointless that is, I'm just saying it's kinda crappy when finding the location of a mission takes longer than the mission itself, just my personal opinion.
There are only a handful of missions, counting both sides, with waypoints like that. Don't let one bad apple spoil the barrel, you know?
I feel your pain, it's a PITA to be sure, can allwasy drop it if you have that option.
The more people I meet, the more I'm beginning to root for the zombies.

You can also check this Faultline Map to see the entrance locations, and also more detail about where the underground tunnels go.
There is more than one, IIRC...

The red arrows are the tunnel entrances, the green are the dam entrances. The map that shows the tunnels comes from www.vidiotmaps.com and their map pack is highly recommended.
I agree that this one is a bit tough to find, and there are a few others like it where there is a mission door in an undergound tunnel or waterway. You'll find the waypoint for the door pointing to 40 feet directly underneath you and you have to circle around to find the entrance to the underground area. Faultline has an underground garage. Sky way has underground watercourses. And Brickstown also has underground areas.
It doesn't happen often in CoH, and compared to other MMOs that don't even give you a waypoint for a mission, CoH is very generous in this regard.

I hate the hidden entrances as well.

If you have trouble finding something, ask before you get pissed. Most servers have active Global channels for badge hunting, TFs, and general chatter (on Pinnacle it's Pinnbadges. You're welcome to join even if you don't play on Pinn, we're rowdy but generally don't bite). Those channels are full of people willing to answer questions. Failing that, depending on your server, the Help Channel can be useful on my server it's dead but on others its helpful.

Heh, I had issues with this. If you have the aracnos costume from the previous mission it's much much easier to navigate the tunnels as they won't shoot you.

You do understand that someone had to do it on their own in the first place, right? It's not the game's fault you're not an Explorer type, but you shouldn't get pissed when they put in some things that reward that type of player.

The problem is that, up to this point, you're entirely used to finding missions by just walking in a more or less direct line towards the mission marker, and if that doesn't work, you look around the immediate vicinity for a bit until you find the entrance. The tunnels, however, begin at points a fair bit away from the direct line to the marker. If you don't know about the marker, chances are, you might just not find the tunnels.
I wasted an hour on this, too. True, once you DO know where the tunnels start, this is not a problem anymore, but it can be really frustrating your first time in Faultline.
To reiterate, rewarding explorers is one thing, but punishing those who are not is a whole different thing altogether. If you like exploring, you can get your explorer badges. In fact, Faultline even has its own super secret room for explorer-types to find. It's just that when you have a normal mission, making exploration suddenly necessary when it wasn't before just isn't quite considerate for those that aren't explorer-types, now is it?
I've said it before, I'll say it again: I would have to be given grocery bags full of money to be a dev, because they simply... cannot... win.
Either the game is criticized as too simple, or - when they attempt to put a bit of challenge in the game that doesn't involve trebling opponents hit points or resistances - that is seen as "punishment".
MA arcs: #1669, "A New Breed Rising"
It's not so much that this rewards people who love exploring, it that it punishes those who don't. Those missions are normal "go to the door and beat people up" missions, complete with a marker on the map.

I could not have said this better myself. I have a friend who is the explorer type and we have this debate all the time. I KNOW I'm not the explorer type, but as Nox says here I shouldn't be punished for it.
Also just as a final note, I wish, if there are more missions like this, that they just don't use the map to "help". I went out the door next to Agent G (because there was a little red arrow under it directing me) and although there might be a way into the tunnels on that side of the dam, many of the guys were red and purple to me and I no longer had the disguise. Anyhow, I did it, it's done, time to move on (thank God).
Trying to find entrance to Clear out first ruin mission in faultline and getting INCREDIBLY frustrated. This is about the third time I'm finding myself trying to find the "needle in a haystack" just to start a mission. I have no clue why gamemakers think this is entertaining. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
