OK, well, pretty much the answer I was expecting. Thanks for the input. I am 99.9% sure anti-matter is one I'm missing, just not sure about the other. I know I did Black Swan (I'll never forget that map), and I got the mission from Maria for Seige (actually the easiest of all the missions I've done). Oh well, I've started the Praetorian war thru flashback so that should get anti-matter.......
-
I have a feeling I know the answer to this question already, but I'll throw it out there anyway. I've been working on the portal jockey accolade and did it in a very unorganized way. I have everything except 2 praetorian AVs. Problem is, I'm not sure which two. Is there anyway to find out which ones I've defeated?
-
Well, I'll share my current build to give some ideas. It's not the best by any stretch, but it does give top attack chain, 17% S/L res, aid self, OK regen, mediocre hp and good end usage. It doesn't have any purples or pvp.
Of course, as has been stated, I19 will change things a bit. I haven't quite hashed out my build for that, but I think Gaidin provided a nice one in another thread......

It makes me sad that no one seems to respond to Kat/SR posts. I may not be the best to answer, but as a fellow Kat/SR, I'll take a shot here. I'm not sure if this is a lvl 50 you're updating for I19 or if this is a new project, but a few things seem a little strange to me.
I'm not sure about the investment in psi def. Yes it is one of the weaknesses of /sr, but the only time I really have an issue with it is against carnies (specifically, Master Illusionists). Also the capped def are a little high. I run around with about 46 in each and can't ever recall going below cap. I'm also a little concerned about your end usage. Not sure what attack chain ur using so maybe it's OK. Otherwise, looks OK to me.
If you do go with this build I'd be curious to know how much the psi def helps against carnies. I know, for me currently, I can pretty much count on a hospital visit when I'm faced with 2 or more Master Ill..... -
I'll chime in on this as my main is a Kat/SR. I'm starting to think other combos might be better, but I have yet to give up on my main
Anyhow, as Werner says, you can get the top attack chain, capped def, some S/L res (in tough), and aid self - but it's a little costly and I could only do it by sacrificing travel powers.
If you go this route, the build kicks butt. I'm also curious (although I haven't downloaded the I19 mids) how things might change with I19. Anyhow, I of course, recommend tweaking your Kat/SR build and join the fight. If nothing else, you will have a somewhat uncommon build that raises an eyebrow or two. -
Speaking as an experienced (well, at least somewhat exp) Kat/SR, who also started frankenslotting IOs at 40 (looking back I should have started earlier) and trying to softcap, your problem will ultimately be end. Werner's build softcaps you but leaves you in bad shape end-wise. That will be your trade-off basically, go easy-cheap-powerselection route to softcap and suffer on end, or go tougher-expensive-IOset route to softcap, have more end, and suffer financially.
Also, for me, the new problem with IOsets is the upcoming nerf to BotZ. Anyhow, not to get too far off-topic, I modified my "old" build to give you a relatively cheap IO soft-capped build (melee def sets are the killers, expense-wise). This is not even close to optimal, but gets you an idea (also, apologize, I made it lvl 41, was in a hurry).

OK, thanks for the input. I'll have to check my power supply when I get home. As a little added info my price range is under $200. It looks like prices are much better than the last time I bought a card (a loooong time ago).
-
OK, this isn't really a technical issue, I'm really seeking advice. About a month ago my PC died and I got a good deal on a "middle-of-the-line" HP machine (2.8 MHz dual-core, 3GB Mem). Unfortunately it came with the crappy integrated video card. I thought I would "limp" along for awhile and pick up a new card later. Well, now it's later. I'm curious what type of card might be good for the game? I'm not looking for top of the line, more like, in the ballpark of top of the line. I see the stickies with issues on both ATI and NVIDIA so is one better or is it just pick your poison?

Quote:I'm sorry, I know I should just let this go, but I can't - for some reason today I just can't let this go.This is the reason why the CoH market is messed up and oddly enough it's one of the reasons why the RL market is messed up. Should I be laughing or crying about this?
You ASSume the people who have educated themselves about the market and learned to profit from it are "bad" people taking advantage of "good/innocent" people. The problem lies with the people who CHOSE to use the market without educating themselves, if, that is, there's any problem at all - some people are just lazy or don't care, so they sell stuff for less than market value because it's easier (I'm not criticizing, I myself fall into this category sometimes).
Anyone who loses money because they chose to use a system they don't understand DESERVES to lose their money (whether it's the stock market, poker, real estate, some silly game, etc.). Sorry if that sounds harsh or is difficult to hear, but it's just a fact of life. Of course, the easy way to fix the problem is to get educated - does this mean you'll make money hand over fist, maybe, maybe not, but you'll give yourself the best chance to make money or maybe you'll decide you don't like the system and avoid using it altogether. Of course, the other option is to simply whine about all the "evil" people in the world - the easier option. So, I guess, in answer to your question 'Should I be laughing or crying about this?', cry, cry yourself to sleep for all I care. -
Good to know. Next time I'll complete it w/o paging a GM, I swear.
-
I did this mission last night (Defeat the Malta Group Invasion from Daedalus) via flashback. I did this b4 while I was levelling and had to page a GM to complete. This time I swore I would find all the Malta. Of course, I did not and had to page a GM. This time however, rather than "teleport" the last dude to me, the GM auto completed the mission saying there was a bug. So I'm now wondering if this mission is actually a "bugged" mission or was I just "unlucky" twice? Anyone completed this mission on their own?
-
Thank you very much for the feedback. This build looks great - one of these days I'll be able to make a good build on my own.
-
OK, I've made a "melee" build (below). I had to sacrifice one set of ToD to get the recharge I need in SK. I did a side by side comparison and basically I'm giving up about 10% S/L def to get about 5% melee def, 8% dmg buff, and two dmg procs (granted two of the "weaker" procs at only 15%). Thoughts?

OK, I'm curious about why others are going for positional defense (melee). I know I'm not going to be able to softcap (or at best, only softcap one of my def) so I thought going for as much S/L def as possible would be the best bet.
Medyc, good point about end. I don't know how I missed that.
Anyhow, I tried to rework things. I'd like to stick with S/L def unless someone can tell my why I'd be better off with melee - I like the flexibility for enhancing my attacks using Kin Combat vs ToD. Here's my rework of the build minus two slots - any suggestions for the last two slots?

OK, so this is my first /regen (which I really want to try) also my first MA and I'm having probs. I would like to get SK>CK>SK>CAK attack chain and as much S/L def as possible without using any purples (might be too much to ask). I tried a build that skips the finess pool. I got pretty much what I want but it "feels" like I'm not doing some things right. For example, Tactics feels like a waste but don't know what to replace it with. Also since this is my first /regen I'm not sure about the slotting.
Anyhow, I was almost to the point of scrapping the whole build when I realized I should stop trying to re-invent the wheel and ask for help. So here's what I came up with, please help:

Running it in safe mode was the key. After booting in safe mode and changing the graphics to some decent settings, everything is fine. Not sure what the original graphic settings were, but they must have been too much. Thanks for the help.

Quote:OK, I must be the biggest idiot ever. Downloaded CoHHelper and ran, but don't know what it did. Does it do something? Am I supposed to run CoH after I start it?Grab CoHHelper and post it's report. It'll give us an idea about hardware and drivers and game settings.
A report from HijackThis will tell us what shovel ware may be running on the system (since it's a new store bought PC). -
I've had a great run of electronics failures lately and my 7+ year old PC was the latest victim. HP had a Pres day sale and I was able to get a decent replacement for less than I thought. The only problem (and it's a big one) is that CoH won't really run. What I mean is that I can connect, login, select a character and try to get in the game. That's where I encounter a problem. I can let the program run for more than 5 min and the "loading progress" bar hardly moves - I've tried running "normally" and in compatability mode.
My old PC would load the game in about 30 secs or less when I got to this point. My new machine has much better specs in some respects, 2.8GHz dual-core/3GB Mem, but a worse video card, integrated (ouch) NVidia GeForce 6150 SE nForce 430. I know the vid card sucks but thought I could live with it for a bit b4 replacing. Is my entire issue vid card related? Anyone have any suggestions? -
I know I've seen this info in a recent thread but I've tried searching and have come up empty. I'm trying to get info about respec'ing and IO sets. I remember reading something about being able to "get back" some IOs when you respec. So if you are returned IOs when you respec, how many can you get back (I remember there being some limit)? Also, what happens to any IOs you don't use, do you get some inf for them?
-
I don't mean to threadjack, and I know this really belongs in the market forum, but how do you get a global rchg LoTG for less than 100M? I've been buying these (very slowly as I accumulate some inf) over the past couple weeks and have been "bargain shopping" and have paid 100-110M for them (can't bring myself to pay more than 110M for some reason). BTW, the ones I bought are all below lvl 50.
-
I'll throw in some "gameplay" exp that might be helpful (or could just be a complete waste of time, but hey, I'm at work so who cares). I used Werner's "cheap" attack chain (substituting FS for SoW) and still use it when hasten is down. It works well. My initial build was cheap (didn't start getting IOs until late 30s). You should be fine using this chain all the way up to 50.
However, if your like me, when you get into your 40s your gonna want to start to go after the best attack chain. I'm still working on it, but I can say I'm now at about 225% GD rchg (when hasten's up) and I run the optimal chain with the slightest of pauses. I can deal with the pause for what feels like a lot more DPS and more KD/KU more often. -
Quote:I started with boxing/tough on my build and switched to aid self. I can't say I noticed the 18% s/l res from tough but I definitely noticed the number of times aid self has saved me (and I've never solo'd an AV). Of course, having both in the same build is an interesting idea.I've never taken the Medicine Pool before. I figured most scrappers reserved that for when it's time to solo AV's...which I am nowhere near being able to do! lol
Also I should note the +recov Miracle IO is expensive and might be more than ur willing to spend so you could just use the "other" five Miracle IOs to get the set bonuses. -
OK, well, it looks like you came up with something you like. Another option that should meet ur requirements and gives you Aid Self (losing Sow and Weave) is as follows:

I really want to help here, but I'm confused. I'm not sure why you don't want CJ when u haven't used all your pool picks. You also have 7 +5% rchg which is 2 too many. I'm also confused why you want the global rchg. My best guess would be for hasten, but you only have that 2-slotted. I don't think you need SoW either, but still don't know what attack chain your after.

As a fellow Kat/SR I'd love to help but I don't want to be the blind leading the blind since I've only been playing for 4-5 months and recently got my first char (my Kat/SR) to level 50.
However, I do think it would be helpful to know what attack chain your going for with your build. That's usually where I start my builds (whether that's right or not I have no idea). Then I move towards dmg mitigation. Anyway, with Kat/SR I started with the GD>GC>SD>GC>FS>GC string which can be accomplished with little global rchg (assuming you take quickness and have 90-95% rchg in GC and GD). When I got hasten (or when hasten was up) I shortened it to GD>GC>SD>GC>FS, with the ultimate goal of GD>GC>SD>GC (I run this now with hasten up even tho there's a slight pause b4 I can hit GD again).
There's another attack chain I fooled with using SoW>GC>FS>GC that also requires a small amount of recharge and frees up power picks. However, I only looked at that using Mids - never used in actual game.
