24 month Vet power, Is it still worth it?

Just been chating to a friend who got thier 24 month vet badge last night and decided to check up on what comes with it as it's only a few months off for me now.

Now though i'm looking forward to the vet titals and the fre toon slot (Just in time for GR? I hope so!!) the vet power, Base Teleporter seems a bit redundant to me. Most of my toon now start with being parked at the base portal for the bonus pres for my SG, but once you gain the BP badge and the patrol XP badge you gain the Rapid Response Member Badge/Trouble Maker accolade and along with it charges for day job base teleporter, which works exactly like the vet reward one, but with half the recharge time.

So, is it worth it? Yes, it means you have to earn charges for it, but that takes almost no effort. should it be replaced, and if so, with what?

I don't think it should. Yes, you can get a version of it - but a temporary version, which the vet reward makes permanent. This fits right in with other temp powers (sands of mu, ghost axe, nem staff and blackwand.)

Besides, it's nice being able to teleport twice as often to a mission. >.>

Yes, it's still worth it. If you log out at the base portal for the extra prestige anyway that's great, but I don't. I have that day job badge on exactly one of my toons, and I don't intent to get it on any other. Day jobs for me have to fit thematically with the character. I use the vet base teleporter virtually every time I play and would hate to see it replaced.

Well, my day job version is mostly perma anyway, but yeah, i suppose i can seen doubling it up is good too, especialy once you start doing mishes in founders...

Oh, and wasn't saying it was a bad idea, just wanted to know peoples opinions on it.

I use mine all the time, on a majority of my characters.

To be honest, While I may have earned the Day Job on a large number of my alts, I would not want the Vet SG Port Power replaced. I have it worked into so many of my Alts as a functional part of shifting between zones or as a quick way to get to the base to reset Inspriations before a mission.

The Vet rewards are just fine as is.

One other side note...
I've actually been more focused on the Ally Rez (University/Hospital) and Ally Heal (Midnighters(once unlocked)/Hospital) on my Alts more than anything else.

Thank you for the time...

I also would not like to see it replaced. I rarely log out at the base - frankly, I don't need the prestige bump and some of the other Day Job perks are better for most of the 60+ alts I'm running.

Logging out at the Base Portal is a choice you have made, but others have chosen differently.

I frequently use my Base Porter Vet Power to go to my base to hit my Workshop to craft stuff or stash drops in my vault (during a long TF like Quaterfield, for example) when I'm not going to take the time to hit the CH immediately. Also good for quickly hitting the base for stored Insps.

I find it useful. I haven't generated enough Day Job time for that temp power yet.

Speaking from personal experience, a definite YES, it is worth it.

I will admit, I don't use it as much as I used to, particularly since the Mission Porter came along earlier this year. But, it still gets relatively active use from me, and the power icon gets a prominent spot in the power tray on all of my toons. It comes in especially handy when you need to move between "secondary" zones. For example, on a recent TF, we wrapped up a mission deep in Crey's Folly, and the next mission was in Dark Astoria. I used the base porter to get to my base, and then used one of my porters in the base to zip over to DA.

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.

1387 badges, and counting

Not just that but you have to spend time to earn the one from day jobs, the one from vet is given to all your characters on the account, with no effort on your part. So IMO the vet one is nicer then the day job earned one. I can earn that one as time permits but i know i always have it on every toon i make from level 1 on.

From level 3 on

You can't use it at levels one and two, so you don't teleport out of out/break/out without getting a contact.

I have to agree that the Base Teleporter VR is worth it. I find myself using it constantly on my veteran Mains, all the way to fresh level 3s. Replacing it makes no sense.

Still worth it? Absolutely. Another way to get around quickly. And almost all of my characters are after different day job perks; I think I only have one or two that have even earned the base teleporter perk.

It's not as useful as it used to be, but the day job power isn't what caused this. It was the Ouroboros portal.

I used to use the base teleporter to get around the city (and before that the Pocket D VIP pass). But Ouroboros is faster and more convenient, especially villain-side.

Part of the problem is that base layouts have become completely labyrinthine since bases allowed arbitrary positioning of objects. Many base designers have carefully hidden the teleporters half a mile from the base entry point, or require that you use superleap or fly to reach them.

Now I just use the base teleporter for getting to zones like Dark Astoria and Crey's Folly. And to to get to the base .

Of course, you don't get the Ouroboros portal till level 25, but that happens very fast now.

You can already go directly to Atlas/Galaxy or Mercy out of the character creator, and completely bypass the tutorials. You are automatically assigned a contact when you arrive in the open zone.

That doesn't matter. The people who chose to go to the tutorial, and then teleported out, were completely unable to utilize contacts until they successfully completed a safeguard and chose a new contact.

This doesn't allow that to happen. You're required to be level 3 to use the various zone ports, which just so happens to be above the level possible in the tutorial.

Oh yes it is still worth it.

I use it at least once every session. Couldn't live without it.... well, yes I could, it is just so damn convenient.

Worth it? It's a free power that comes from not cancelling the game. The only way to not get it is to unsubscribe. It's free (assuming you are are paying to play the game, not just get nifty vet awards).

There are several vet awards I never use. Many of costume pieces, free and reduced tailor sessions, the base items, even the pets are things I don't usually use. The base teleporter, on the other hand, is a power I frequently use with all of my characters.

We get a base teleporter after 24 months? o.o

(not that I've been in much of a position to use one...)

It's absolutely worth it. While you may log out at the Base Teleporter each session, there are many of us who do not. There are, for example, lots of other badges to get and powers to charge. There are lots of people who are getting other badges. There are lots of people who can't be bothered to log out anyplace specific and don't care about badges or accolades that need charging. The Vet power is permanent. Once you have it, you have it on all characters, even ones without Accodades or access to an Ouro portal. You can use it in combination with other powers. Why not have two or more powers to get you where you want to go? If you're playing Heroes, there are plenty of big zones and hazard zones with no base teleporter and a power like this is useful, especially if I don't have to charge it up.

Anything that helps me get to where I need to be without passing through multiple zones or crossing from one end of a zone like Indy Port to the other is good by me. The more ways I have to get around, the better.

Agreed. I do a lot of Task Forces, so I would rather have these on my characters than most any of the other day job powers. Heck, even my Empath wouldn't cry if she had two Rezzes. Don't let the Howling Twilighters have all the fun of being able to Rez more than one person at a time.

Well... I use mine all the time. I usually try to log out at sites that give Day Job credit for badges I don't have yet. But even having both can be useful; one is almost always up.

And as far as "worth it"... it's free. I would have played this game even without the vet rewards. IMO, something with no cost is almost always "worth it" unless it's detrimental.

People who don't think it's "worth it" can always choose to not click the button in the Vet badge list.

So using one does not gray out the other then? I remember when I got the Market Teleporter day job power, using it would make the purchased one I had in my inventory unavailable until it recharged. I thought the base porter would be the same way.
