Conserve Power REPLACED ON Test in /ELEC!
*shrug* fair enough, i'm wrong.
Either way, it is still a mechanic designed for defense sets. and to whoever commented on me "spouting facts," learn to read. I didn't spout facts. I specifically used the statements, "as I understand it", and "I may be wrong," as I was not entirely sure that was how it works. Turns out I was wrong, fine, I can admit that. I learned something. Maybe a handful of people know every single mechanic in the game intimately, I freely admit that I am not one of them. and I doubt you are either. If you have an issue, man up and state it, maybe even spread a little knowledge, don't just anonymously drop some snide remark on my profile. |
OK OK OK WAIT UP A SEC HERE
Electric is getting a heal........I just started a ss/elec brute..........BLOODY SWEET ELECS GETTING A HEAL.......
I got a Q than...what the hell is gonna happen to conserve power?
gotta say it's about bloody time too, that means i can respec my wife's EM/Elec and my homie silvers ss/elec for them and help IO out but i'm a little iffy about heroes getting it earlier
nvm the sun is the sun and heroes will ***** till they get what they want
Hells yeah electrics getting a heal woot

The cake is a lie! The cake is a lie!
It's a mechanism that helps avoid the cascade failure effect in defence sets, and untill recently, was only available to those sets which relied almost exclusively on defence for protection.
As of the advent of shields, Defence resistance is available as a granted buff to anyone close enough to the guy with the big tower sheild/riot shield/manhole cover, whether they were a defence set or not.
It has become a resistance mechanic available (albeit only rarely at the moment) to everyone.
You could, I suppose, make the argument that it's tied to a defence buff... that might have some value, though it's worth noting that with many sets the value of the defence:defence resistance ratio varies wildly.
In other words, the level of defence resistance is tunable as a set strengthening measure, and is allowed to float independently with respect to how much or little defence the set actually has. It's not much of a stretch to imagine a set with debuff resistance as it's central strength. Such a set might have little or no defence but heaps of defence resistance.
In current sets Invul, somewhat strongly resists debuffs relative to the amount of defence it has, though this ratio does vary with invul. SR has a ridiculously high level of defence resistance relative to it's defence.
Shields starts out with a modest amount, but due to the enhanceable nature of it's defence resistance (like SR) and due to the stackability of AD, it can be IOd to the point where it too has very high defence resistance relative to it's defence.
Relative to it's defence based protection protection, EA get less.
The cake is a lie! The cake is a lie!
I wonder how Energize will look like. Will we get fancy particle effects or will it just use the old Conserve Power effect with just modified numbers?
If it looks anything like Citadel's aura I'd be a happy camper.
I dunno, I'm just not seeing this bringing /Elec to the same level as the revised and rounded secondaries. There's still nothing preventing /Elec being debuffed into the negative defenses, end discount is redundant with Power Sink, the heal doesn't give a +HP boost to make it a stronger Resistance set, although the regen is nice since +heal enhancements will boost both the heal and the regen. I still think Elec needs better S/L resists, a +Resist DEF Debuff in addition to +HP to make it a good secondary on par with the recently revised sets.
Ugh and Grounded is still buggy on stairs and during Lightning Rod. It's been a few years like that now?
I'd say the smart money is on CP being added as the 5th mu power.

/shrug.
My money is something other than Conserve Power for Mu. I'm guessing a hold, ST immobilize or cone aoe blast.
Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.
I think it will be static discharge myself. Though shocking bolt would fit with the way tanker apps are designed, but alas this is for brutes so static discharge.
/ea still has conserve power as far as we know, so CP won't be getting shifted to the ppp's unless EA's conserve power is also getting changed.
I'm really wishing I'd had a chance to look at EA before the door closed... although at an early stage in a closed beta... who knows if that snapshot would have been accurate or not.
The cake is a lie! The cake is a lie!
Just got off Test and Energize has fixed every problem that I had on my electric brute. I LR into a mob and take massive alpha once they get up, hit energize (700ish heal with three heal SOs) and proceed to waylay the survivors with the increased regen and end redux making the rest of the fight nice and easy.
With hasten, lighting reflexes and three recharge SOs energize was back up for the next fight.
Pure gold.

Looks like Conserve Power.
Also: it is fully enhanceable for Recharge and Heal/Regen.
I was kicked from test but I did see the numbers before I got the boot. Slotted to 95 heal/recharge + Lightning Reflexes would be 55ish second recharge, 195 regen and a 730+heal.
Can't wait until I can try the no Aid Self/no Tough build and see if I can like it with just SOs before planning IO builds.
Who do I ship money to so we can have an updated mids?

So I got a chance to tool around with the new and improved Elec set during closed beta - I copied my Stone/Elec over from live and did a respec while trying to re-use as many of the IOs I had slotted in him as possible. I dropped Aid Self, but kept Tough and also added Weave (around 15% melee defense currently, between Weave and set bonuses). I was able to take out large spawns that would have given me problems on live with little difficulty, but I must warn you that this improvement doesn't take Elec from "this set really isn't that good without lots of backup" to "this set is awesome!" Rather, the new Elec is something more like Invuln with one enemy in range, in terms of survivability.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Did the Devs change anything in Energy Aura, too? Or does it still have Conserve Power?
-This Space Intentionally Left Blank.-
Still has CP, which is why Brutes aren't getting that as the 5th power in Mu Mastery.

Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.
