Hi!

I'm Eco. I'm British, Welsh t be exact, and I started playing CoH before the EU version went live. When it did, I didn't transfer over because I'd already built up a few lvl 30= heroes, and a small base, and basically was settled enough on the US servers to not want to switch.

I've been happy there ever since.

My personela dream is for a game merge of the EU and US servers, tbh, so that every player of CoH could choose to play on any of the 8 US or 3 EU servers, but that's unlikely to happen.

When I learnt that the EU and US servers were being merged, I was well pleased at the thought of having my fellow Brits 'join' the forums I've grown to love.

Now I see that there's this 'European' forum, nesteld within the English section, I'm afraid that all the Britst will stay here and the yanks (and me and other Brits of my ilk) will stay in the City Life forum, and the integration I so looked forward to won't be as easy and thorough.

I'm asking all European native English speakers, therefore, to view the City Life forum as a home rather than this one.

Its unfortunate in my opinion that even though BOTH US and EU foprums have essentially moved to different web locations, the EU foprums have had to change their names - this gives the impression that the EU forums are moving to the US ones. This IMO isn't a bad thing, tbh, but putting this 'European' English forum here smacks of 'sure, you can use the bus, but you have to sit at the back'.

English speaking CoH players should integrate IMO. There are more US players than Brits - the City Lifers aren't going to move to this forum, its been their home for 5 years. We have a chance to merge communities for the better, let's take it.

Irrespective of how you take me plea, here, I'd also like to take this, my first chance to speak to EU players of CoH, to say: Yay! Welcome! Isn't CoH AMAZINGLY Cool?!?! I'm really stoked that I can finally say HI to my fellow Brits (especially any Wleshmen out there!), and...er...that's about it I guess...hm...ooh - I can plug my AE review thread, I guess!. It's...er, hmm...

Where's the URL thingummy stuff etc...

Ah sod it, i'll have to have a look..

In the meatime, heres the URL for my old review thread:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=138258

- Don't take much notice of the first few reviews, I was operating under a wrongfully harsh paradigm (though some of Venture's arcs are a little bit dull, i still believe). The reviews from Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend are where the thread gets fun to read IMO.

And my new thread (which is really where my game gets good IMO) is:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=144170

FUN is what CoH is all about IMO.

Lets all have as much as we can, eh?

Witam!

See you all in City Life, I hope.

Eco.

PS in the event that I'm alone in believing that City Life and this forum would best be merged into one, i'm quite happy to hope for two equally vibrant and dynamic communites to flourish here; I only hope there's some great crossover potential to come from it too.

Well, when I want to dicuss the game as a whole, I'll probably use the City Life forum since that kind of is for gameplay discussion. However, since the EU servers are still seperate from the US ones there are some matters that only apply there, and those are best discussed in here.

Hi

I reckon once things have been running a couple of months, things will work out just fine. Try and bear with us tho... Imagine us EU forumites are kittens and we're just coming out of our nice, cozy warm safe EU cardboard box for the first time. We might venture out slowly and cautiously at first and dash back in the first sign somebody even comes close to contemplating about merely speculating about saying boo in the general region of a goose (or us) before legging it back into our nice coze eu box again.

But as with all kittens, once we've got the measure of this place, it'll be chaos. Cuddly, fluffy, cute chaos, but chaos notwithstaning and we shall be everwhere causing havoc.

Got to ask how you managed to build a small base prior to the EU game being launched?

There are 11 American servers and 4 Euro ones - 10 of the American ones and 2 of the Euro ones speak English - Freedom server speaks its own langauge

Why?! We're not all timid, personally I've been poking my head in everywhere stating my (strong at times) opinions. But this section is a pretty good place to converse with other players from EU servers without a large majority of Americans (apart from those who play EU side) flooding the threads.

This could be all prevented by merging server lists, having them seperated into US and EU servers is stupid, imo. If a player wants to risk lag by playing away from home, let them.

Well, the yanks will still be able to come in here anyway, yeah?

Speaking pure Awesome™ is a feat few dare master, but the denizens of Freedom are bold and brave enough to bear the burden.

*cracks open a brew* And, if you don't mind, I'll pour one of our Awesome™ Neverending Pints for the EuroCrowd to welcome them, in their own lounge.

...it's okay. I paid the cover before enterin'. Chug-a-lug, EuroHeroes!

My memory blows, obviously. I couldn't have

I think the main reason I didn't switch was the 'dearth' of servers I percieved the EU game as having when compared to the ones in the US game; Typically, I'm still only on Freedom lol, although I'm approaching the server limit for characters. At the time we couldn't buy extra character slots.

Okay, cultural bridge time. Explain this "axe" thing. My London office address is "St. Mary's Axe". To me, that's a big bladed weapon you use to dismember people with.

Colour, pah, you guys invented English, we won't quibble over the schmutz.

It may be nice to have a European home on the boards. Just remember it's not brits vs. yanks here. Being Swedish and having played on the US servers for five years I feel a little left out. We have people from almost every nation, at least every continent.

Don't do the American thing and think you're alone in the world... :P

You feel left out? Lol Think yourself lucky you're not Welsh and having to listen to everyone in the world it seems refer to Britain or the UK as 'England', even a significant part of actual British People!

PS I love the way you helpfully point out who Groucho Marx is in your sig lol.

oh right with you there (on the Britain is not England thing, not on being Welsh, although there's nothing wrong with that) but I do like us Europeans having our own little corner of the forums. For starters, it'll take me a bit of time to get used to being able to actually post things whenever I want -Viva Las Neuvo Forumas!

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

Lol I live in Poland, and whenever any of my English friends go back to Blighty for a holiday or whatever, they return to poland and say stuff like 'Beer's really expensive in England now' or 'one thing that is better in England than here is the state of the roads' and it drives me up the wall. These are my best friends I'm talking about.

Yes. Yes we can.

We're scouting it as a possible military base.

However, since most good beer comes from your side of the pond, I couldn't be happier with this merger.

Uh, might be wrong there but that reads to me that he had a small base on EU launch, hence my question.
