Loyal through Thick and Thin?
They don't say how long you'll be in the Closed Beta for it, though, just that you'll get in earlier (or maybe have a higher priority?) than those who will get in simply for preordering GR.
Plus, it's a perk for staying subscribed to this game for the first few months of Champions Online. I think they'll be overjoyed to have a ton of people in the GR Closed Beta.
Well that should take care of the players who took the buy 6 and get the 7th month free subscription plan back during the holidays to resubscribe through this holiday season.
Yes I'm cynical today.

You're cynical, yet failed to notice that this period just happens to start right before Champions Online is scheduled to be released?
This is nothing more than a "Please don't leave us for CO" stunt. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I signed up for the "Buy 12 months, get 2 free" promotion back during the holidays, so I'm set until May 2010. I'll be getting those badges and "Tier 2" access to Going Rogue closed beta for sure.

When you buy those chunks of time, do you get 12 months worth of badges up front, or do you still have to wait for them?
Mostly asking because of the
"60 months PAID time" bullet. Meaning if I bought 12 months of time now, and that would bring me up to 60 months, at some point, would it count as 60 months PAID time? It should since I PAID for it, though I haven't got the badges yet, no?
I dont think so, currently you already can buy 1 3 and 6 months, but non give your 'paytime' in advance (in term of veteran badges).
However, since EU started later then US, is it even possible for EU players to hit 60 months? Well maybe a handfull of true-core peeps might have made it by then (november i asume), but i play on the EU as far i know from the start and i just passed 54 months.

I can see the complaints already about these time exclusive badges...
I understand the desire for someone to want to be able to lay down a wad or cash and instantly have all of the veteran reward perks, but I disagree that it should work that way.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
All I see are these two items:
1) I got a late start, and am only a 4 year (48 months) vet. That is straight up, from start to now, time. Therefore I am getting gypped because I wasn't turned on to Co* until a whole year later.
2) I'm in like Flynn, as there is no chance short of a major frakkin' disaster that I won't be eligible for the Loyalty Program. So it'll be a little later, but GR Beta here I come! w00t!
August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.

I'm confused: do I need to do something to my PlayNC account to qualify for this, or does it apply automagically?
The badges are automatic, some time after the end date, if you qualify for them. The tiered beta process is just that--whenever beta is, you'll be invited before some folks, and after other folks.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
It's account driven and 'should' be automatic. They (NCSoft) will put you in their 'que' depending on your qualification. i.e.
o Tier One: City of Heroes Veterans with 60+ months of paid time.
o Tier Two: Loyalty Program players
o Tier Three: Players who Pre-Order Going Rogue (Preorder details to be announced at a later date)
The only thing to make sure of (if you are planning on participating in the Beta) is to make sure you have the Test client installed.
If you are asking because you qualify for multiple items, I received multiple beta invites for CoH and CoV, depending on where I fell in the queue. Likely, they'll just invite accounts en masse when they reach each beta benchmark--regardless of who is actually in the beta already.

Ok thanks; I thought I saw something somewhere (which of ocurse I can't now find) that said you had to add something to your playNC account but not to worry..

It's not about money. It's about playing and being part of the community. They can't control how often and how you play, but they can reward you after the time you've been active on the assumption that you did play.

And the really annoying thing is that the devs caved and did it.
Every time the "what do you mean it's time served?" complaint comes up, it reminds me of those people who whined and complained that they hadn't had accounts when the first iterations of various seasonal events happened and the devs haaaaad to give them some opportunity to get the badges from said events because it wasn't faaaaair. I always felt like asking them if they were writing to the Defense Department demanding that they be given the campaign ribbons for Operations Torch and Overlord as well. I mean, yes, obviously they weren't there for the invasions of North Africa and Normandy (at least, I would be deeply surprised if we have any players who were - I suppose it's statistically possible), but stiiiiiill.

So this reads:
All City of Heroes® and City of Villains® players who maintain an active account for the time period beginning August 15, 2009 and ending November 15, 2009 will receive a set of special rewards for their loyalty to Paragon City and The Rogue Isles:
Closed Beta access* for City of Heroes Going Rogue
Exclusive loyalty badges**: "Vigilant" for Heroes and "Determined" for Villains
* Going Rogue Closed Beta Access will be granted using a three-tier system:
o Tier One: City of Heroes Veterans with 60+ months of paid time.
o Tier Two: Loyalty Program players
o Tier Three: Players who Pre-Order Going Rogue (Preorder details to be announced at a later date)
Does this mean that if I maintain my sub from August 15th through November 15th, I'm getting into the Going Rogue Closed Beta for sure? Or is there something you guys forgot to add. Just saying, that's a lot of people that are going to be in it then, the way I read it.
