Would be kind of nice to be able to turn these off, you know, with the 24 person League trials and stuff. Kind or hard to see MY damage with all the greys getting in the way. I'm mostly concerned with what I'm doing, what I'm taking, and when I'm being healed.
QOF and stuff. -
Wait, so they start off by saying something like "we're going to communicate moar!", then go directly into "there is some cool stuff coming up, but I can't talk about it".
That...makes sense, I guess? Right? -
Quote:Word. Hey, I've seen your MA/Regen stalker running around in RV, I'm the guy in the black trenchcoat and gasmask. Your guy is a ***** and I can't kill him.I've been PVPing for a while now but i was wondering if there are any MA/REG builds that are worth the time to build?
Anyways, I have a MA/Regen sitting at 40 something I'd like to give a crack at pvp at some point. I've never rolled a regen into pvp so I'm not exactly on the up and up on how to build one, so I gave it a crack in Mid's figuring that recharge would be pretty important to get your click powers back quicker.
Also, I like trow sharks so. That and I'd say it's mostly for dueling so thats why I took lol water spout. Probably not the best idea but I figured the constant tick damage from it would be somewhat useful if you're going to go against another melee and pound on each other and would maybe help disrupt aid self if they are using that. There's probably better builds out there, and I don't usually throw purples or PVP IO's in mine since the game declares that I never get those as drops ever, so if you're able to throw those in there then more power to you.
I figured Cobra Strike wasn't needed since I'm pretty sure Eagle's Claw has a 100% stun chance with it and stuns don't stack anymore. Aside from that, with the recharge that I and what most people would have, Claw is up reasonably fast. Storm Kick is in due to its naturally higher crit chance, 10% iirc, and Eagle's Claw gives your next immediate attack a boosted chance to crit, 20% I think, so you're looking at a 30% crit chance on storm kick then. Thunder is in with boxing as I've had reasonable good times on Super Strength pummeling people with Jab and Boxing back and forth until a big hitter power is recharged. Crane is in to use after Claw -> Storm -> Crane. Under Hasten it shows me as Claw being recharged in about 3 seconds, so you should be able to use Claw after that chain, if not then throw a Thunder in and go back to Claw. Who knows.

Quote:No.So you must be working for Cryptic to know this stuff for sure?
Cryptic might have been the name of the company, but Jack was long gone from the project, and the vast majority of the Dev team that's been working on the game stayed with the game when it got bought out by NCSoft. What was your point again?
And,
The point was that when all the kids wanted all this pretty color stuff (since they keep reminding me that they've wanted it for SUCH a long long long time, and that means Cryp was still in charge of things around that time) Cryptic said "No", then they put it in their other game, Champions Online; the first Superhero MMO with Power Color Customization, not City of Heroes/Villains. That was my point, I think I stated it there in my little post, I suppose you cannot comprehend or? -

Most of us don't want to suffer because of the farmers' behavior.
Blame the farmers, not the DEVs. Even more so, blame the exploiters - some (maybe many) of which were farmers (or, at least, acting in the manner of farmers at the time).
The Mitos were used as exploits in every instance that I ran into them in the AE. Albeit that there are 300k+ missions and I haven't run 1k of them, but still, even so.
If it is a good enough story, you can find a way to work around not having the Mito's regardless of what the story is about. If you can't have that visual image in the game then find away for the image to look different or explain that a fight is going on versus these things in a text instead of actual battle.
i16 had some great improvement. Anything that was removed from the AE was to improve the game in one way or another. I'm glad to see that they finally did what they needed to do.
Blame the devs for being lazy and not thinking before pushing something to live before it's finished and has properly gone through QA and closed beta. -
Quote:Cuz' that would be super right? The only way I would be ok with build switching without visiting an NPC would be:
- Set Player Health 1
- Set Player Max Regeneration 0, duration 60 seconds.
- Set Player Max Endurance 0, duration 60 seconds.
- Set all powers state to Initial Recharge.
- Wipe all Buffs/Debuff on character.
In other words, we do NOT want players to be able to situationally change power selections.
Kinda like SUPER side kicking?
What about SUPER build switching? -
-
Still not up and working after the downtime, big surprise there.
It'll be a bigger one when it's not fixed come quittin time over at P Studios woo! -
Quote:I'm loving my Broadsword/Electric Armor. It is *very* tough. I've always been a fan of layering defenses/resists. I'm 22 now and the lack of stamina is *really* starting to hurt though. Particularly since I got Lightning Reflexes. Attack faster, more endurance used.
Should I get stamina or will Energize and Powersink be enough to keep me going?
I have room to start taking some other powers now, I've yet to take any pool powers and I don't feel I need a travel power at all. (Sprint + Lightning reflexes is faster than fly so good enough for me).
What would be the most useful pool to invest in? Fitness or maybe Fighting for Tough? Or Leadership for Assault? Those 3 pools seem like the only reasonable choices to me. Oh and I don't pvp much at all so that shouldn't be a factor.
Lastly, where should I start sticking Achille's heal proc? Slice or Hack? Or as many powers as i can afford too?
Come onnnn, you should know by now that Stamina is basically a crutch and you pretty much need it for whatever character you're using!
Cuz, you know, being exhausted after fighting some mooks is incredibly super!
I know lot's of heroes that are really really tired after beating up some street thugs and can't use any of their powers afterwords for like 5 minutes! What, you don't agree? Look em up! -
It seems like this thing is down like every other day, expected time when it's going to be available? I'd like to do a server transfer so I can maybe slot out my character please.
-
Quote:Ahh right, yea Ball has always been kinda an interesting AOE for any class it's available to. It doesn't do very much at all, but I guess if you look at it from it's "home powerset", Electric Blast, that power set wasn't very AOE focused in the first place. I guess you could say it's more damage centric, since there's no "minor damage" tier 1, but I'm sure a lot of people would say no since there's other sets geared towards ST damage than electric ever was.Sorry, yep. Meant the Patron Pools for Brutes. Ball Lightning does come closest, at 80%ish of the damage of shockwave. Static Discharge only does half the damage of Shockwave, even Electricifying Fences does more damage (over time).
So I guess you say that elec is for end drain and that's about it! I've used Ball on some of my brutes before, it's certainly not horrible to add into an AOE attack chain, especially when you drop a chance for KD proc in there. That and it'll lead you to Elec fences, which should be on every /fire aura user's list for keeping things in place while you lay down burn patches. Even if you're not a /fire elec fences is probably one of the better AOE power choices a brute can get, just in case other people lay down burn patches, like ignite or that thugs burn patch, or the Robots burn patch and so on.
Also came in handy during boss farms if you had someone else laying down immobs as well, even though you were well over the aggro cap in some cases, they couldn't go running off to beat the **** out of someone, and if you did it right, still in your AOE range.
Just saying, the KB on shockwave is probably the main focal point as to why I wouldn't take it, combined with its low low damage. -
You could do what I do whenever I see his name starting to scroll up from the bottom of the page; keep scrolling past his massive walls of text. Well, it's basically what I do for like 75% of the users here, but it works nonetheless!
-
Quote:What the VEATS? I already have a crab, and they're AOE machines. More like howitzers, you set them up back, have someone grab aggro, and dump on. Adding venom grenade and aim really pushes up the numbers, omega bomb is good, Longfang and Channelgun useful for gunning down runners. I don't have a problem with crab's AOE stuff at all, unless you meant widows.Whatever works for you. I'm going for lots and lots of AOE as I like fighting lots of lower level enemies at once solo, with no bosses mostly for the constant stream of Insps & Salvage (and recipies if the crappy drop rates are fixed). So for me Spin, Evis & Shockwave will all be used. Especially since I'm Elec, which feels a little squishy, so being able to mass-knock things away could be useful for me.
Shockwave is absolutely nothing compared to the wonder that is Spin, that's for sure. We're a bit spoilt by the awesome that is Spin!
The Epic AOEs are going to make you really sad if you consider Shockwaves damage to be too low -
Quote:Eh, the one point more than strike damage, cone, and knockback till 41 makes it kinda of a ****** pick. Evis too, even, I can see taking elecs, darks, or fires damage toggle and working spin for LT/Minion kills and working bosses over man to man rather than wasting the pick. It's a Knockback still. At least it's a cone though, they're fairly easy to position so you slam things into a wall. Not optimal for some Brute builds, like WP or Invun but we do get an AOE immob at 41 as well which is handy to neuter it.
Can be a life-saver sometimes on my Claws/WP scrapper, but I don't use it too much. On my Claws/Elec brute it's going to be more useful as I'll be able to counter the knockback with Fences, or not depending on the situation. -
Quote:Spin, good. Evis, eh. What about Shockwave? Is it still a knockback for brutes? Cuz if it is that's not a very "great" aoe for tanking/bruting then, ya know? That's true, ST. It's still going to be a damn fine brute primary. 3 great AoEs, solid single target output. The blender will still blend quite well.
Another thing about claws is the fact that focus and shockwave still use the melee damage modifier instead of the ranged damage modifier. So there's another oddity that must be taken into account.
If it's Knockdown, however, them I'm all aboard for taking it. -
Quote:So...you're telling me to farm, okay. That's what farming is, doing the same thing over and over again. BUT WAIT!No, see here's the intent: Just play normally. You know, find a mission that sounds interesting, play it, rate it, move on to another. Play, rate, move on. Play, rate, move on.
Quote:Making your own mission with no plot (just lots of bosses), publishing it, and doing nothing BUT playing that mission? Kind of goes against the spirit of sharing interesting new stories.
You'll EVENTUALLY make enough tickets for a gold roll by playing normally. In fact, at 1500 a mission*, a 5 mission arc can probably give you a gold roll's worth of tickets! You don't NEED to farm!
*of course, most story-based AE missions aren't specifically designed to ticket-cap you every mission, but that's where difficulty settings come into play.
Oh! So if I made a Maniac farm with a plot, THEN it's not a farm since it has cool twists and plot devices! Got ya! I'll get to work on making a plot for my farm, then it won't be a farm since it has walls of text before and after the mission.
Quote:What mixed messages? Seriously? Removing everything that was being farmed isn't enough of a "no farms" message?
Now, the devs don't mind small-scale farming where there's some risk involved. Look at Cimeroria, there's a big wall with like 60 dudes... but 60 dudes with mez resistance and high-damage lethal attacks that kill defense buffs and they have self-healers and patrols mixed in. That and you have to share the fun with everyone else.
Having THAT is NOT the same thing as "Go ahead and waste space in the MA by making a boss-only mission full of guys who can't possibly hurt you".
The enhanced difficulty options are for people who like a challenge. And yes, it enables farming, but at least people aren't spamming broadcast and tells for pads. Also, now you can farm existing missions easier instead of wasting space in the AE mission list.
Quote:And a few probably WILL. I seem to recall there being a "MA stories and Lore" sub-forum that's popular enough, though I DON'T see a "MA Farmers" sub forum anywhere.
I think this thread just about covers it. There is a BADGE forum, and lots of badges are about farming, so there you go. -
Eh, I can kinda agree on some things. As far as giving squishies mez protection for pve content though? Nah.
How about mez resistance? Not anything too outrageous, squishies still get mezzed but not for 10 minutes after being hit with some mob's ZOMG mezzes. This would still keep squishies mezzable, but not OP'd, and still allow some AT's to solo a bit more without having to get a crutch (especially at early levels). -
Quote:Wait, rewards are ONLY added to be farmed?
Is that seriously your mentality?
The devs sought to reward people for their play time, not "hey here's a reward type, now find the most efficient way to get as most of it as possible with the least effort!" Why do you think they added a tickets-per-mission cap, or even an upper limit cap? These actions are not consistent with "hey, farm this!"
AAHAHAHAHA. Seriously? Not meant to be farmed? Yea that's why gold rolls cost around 6000 tickets, and you can only get a max of 1500. According to your rules about not farming, that pretty much means I'll never get a gold roll, since I'm only allowed to run a MA mission what? Once an hour? Day? Week? Having an upper cap means nothing, what's the difference between the ability to save up 3 billion tickets over a time, and spending 3 billion tickets over a 9999 ticket interval? Nothing.
Quote:Originally, the MA wasn't even going to HAVE rewards. Let that sink in for a second.
Now obviously, they changed their minds after almost everyone said they wouldn't touch the MA otherwise, but since then have added caps, removed mob types, reduced the XP efficiency of mob combinations, added more caps, removed badges... They do NOT want people farming in MA.
While I will say you actually CAN find a legit boss farm in regular content (red side snake/egg farm?) they eventually considered maniac farms to be exploitive, for whatever reason. Though if the only boss farms available were say, Paragon Protectors, they probably would not have implemented the change.
Quote:Yes, they allow you to level up in it normally so that anyone under 49 isn't wasting their time, but that's it. That doesn't mean they want people farming.
And if people continue to farm in MA, the Devs will continue to nerf until it becomes completely unfeasible to even use at all. And the only ones who will really lose out are the people using the MA for its intended purpose.
Besides the fact, not ever touching the regular content farms and including the new difficulty options to spawn out 8 people on your teams still points to the dev's dont mind farming, it's just harder to exploit it via regular content since you can't actually edit it. If they want to nerf MA into the ground to the point where literally no one uses it, that's fine, I have other things to do and listening to people who actually think their missions are 'clever', 'witty', 'has a good plot', 'should be in the game's canon', will be highly entertaining; mostly because if their content was THAT good, people would play it without any regards to whether or not they got rewards for it or not.
Also, I have a green bar now. Could someone please fix that? Seriously I thought I was a better troll than that. -
Quote:It's sad what the MA has become.
What's it going to take for people to see that the MA was never made for farming? Total nerfs? No XP? No rewards? No badges?
The Devs say, time and time again, that they do not want you farming the MA. Yet you continue. That, in turn, ruins it for the rest of us; the storytellers. They increase the rewards outside the MA, just so you can take your farms outside... to leave the MA to those that want to express creativity.
Go find a farm elsewhere. There are non-MA enemies that give better rewards now, yet you want to find a way to work against the system. You want to blame others for your own mistakes. You want others to take the blame while you take the greed and run for the door. You WANT the them to scrap the MA because YOU want a reason to hate the game and the devs.
The Devs don't mark things for failure... you do.
Go away.
Actually the devs don't mind farming at all, they just don't like exploits. They've said that they intended for the MA to be an alternate means to level from 1-50, if one chooses. Also, if you've done an TF/SF more than once, I'm sorry to say that you've farmed and that you would probably like to /uninstall or /wrists now that you've committed the very crime you seem to hate so much.
Quote:For what it's worth, your "farm" missions are getting in the way of people finding honest-to-goodness STORY arcs (which the MA was INTENDED for), making them have to dig through large piles of abandoned crap one-offs just to find some new, actual CONTENT to play. So it's not about not liking farming, it's about YOUR play choices affecting not only people's ability to find OUR story arcs, but the devs nerfing the whole thing to death so that no one wants to play them! Which means less ratings, which means less tickets, which means, because of YOUR actions, we cannot get -our- rewards for using the system the way it was intended. Thanks. Really.
Now I farm, believe me. I've hit the wall in cim, I've done hami raids twice in a row, done full days of TFs JUST for the merits, stood in front of a Carnival Master Illusionist for hours on end and hitting an AoE once in a while to get badge credit... even ran a few lowbies with higher-level folks to get some extra XP. I don't have anything against farming in general.
However, I don't condone the use of the MA being used as a farming tool, if only based on the way the mission listing is set up. Now, i DID do some farming there: badge farming. But then I did everyone a favor and DELETED my farm mission! But everyone else's lack of consideration and foresight has led to a broken shell of what could have been a great story-telling tool.
So, yeah. How about you farmers go back to doing ANYTHING ELSE, and just leave the MA be? And then, when you have 50s of every type all IO'd out and you're bored out of your mind because there's no more challenge or variety (a self-imposed problem there; how about running some STORY arcs for a change?), take down your farm arcs before canceling your sub.
Or leave them there out of laziness and/or spite. But that says more about you than I, right?
If the dev's didn't want people to farm MA, then they wouldn't have included tickets...you know things you can save up and buy stuff with? There wouldn't be any incentive to farm it out. Not only that, but since drops are borked right now a good portion of people are sticking to MA until they fix it.
I know you did everyone a favor by deleting your farm, but you could also do us another by cutting back on the whining. -
Quote:I know I'm probably going to catch the ire of the fiteklub police but...If there's one thing I've noticed from Freedom RV and (LOL) Justice RV/arena it's that bad players have started getting big heads. You can tell they're bad just by how they move (or don't) and use their powers, yet if they lose they start throwing excuses at you like they're two and can't handle it, and if they win you never hear the end of it. Hell, a few weeks back I ended up jumping into an amusing 2v1 arena match: Spines/WP and WP/SS against my Rad/Psi, and I ended up winning 5-0 in 10 minutes. Some of the stuff they were saying was hilarious - "You only won because you move around" or "You only won because you use inspirations." Hell, there've been times on my Spines/Regen where I've been yelled at in broadcast because "melee ATs aren't supposed to kite."
It's like a few days ago when my brute and a tanker were probably the only people in zone, so we just sorta ran into each other and slugged it out somewhere on the highway. Not that I could really give a ****, but I suppose some sort of gentleman's agreement was reached since neither of us used inspirations. (I could care less anyways, it's not like if you die in zone pvp, you die for REAL).
Anyways, so some psi blaster comes along and throws something at me so I'm like "zomg" and make a beeline for him. Guess the tanker didn't give a ****, cuz he just stood there and watched. Anyways I probably dumped like all my tray and demonic and so on and after he ran out of the (lol) five greens he brought, he ran off crying that I pop candies way too much and that I should "Keep it lame, Im out" or something.
It's pretty funny when people think there should be rules in Zone, cuz there isn't anything like the arena where you can set your rules and...
waiiiiiiiit -
Quote:If they'd putz around with the system so your combat attributes monitor would actualy reflect the right numbers in pvp, then we'd know so much more!Elusivity is a factor that is multiplied by the accuracy of the attack. This is unlike defense, which is subtracted from the "to hit" factor. It was initially 30% and subsequently nerfed to 10%.
As an example, my Huntsman, after adding accuracy enhancements and accuracy IO set bonuses, has an accuracy of about 2.0 on his attacks. If my target has the standard 10% elusivity, my accuracy becomes 1.8.
2.0 - ( 2.0 x 0.1 ) = 1.8
I haven't seen a post by a dev or by Arcanaville to the effect that DR is applied globally to recharge (after being applied separately to recharge reduction enhancements). Do you have a link to such a post? I'd appreciate a look at it. Muchas gracias.
Though honest, I thought people stopped giving a **** about such things a while ago... -
Quote:Tickets are more efficient than merits anyways, so AE it is!if it was "clear" that there was to be no farming, then it would have been fixed a LONG time ago.
farming is a part of this game as any other mmo. with or without ae, farming will exist. even with ae gone or changed, there will still be a place to farm regardless, and, if ae is still on par with normal xp, evening running the normal arc missions, it will still be more beneficial then running all over the maps to get to a door. -
Don't forget with the whole ability to solo missions by yourself while set to 8 people will probably make it that much easier to find teams! Cuz purple farmers need seven other people to...
nevermind. -
Quote:Wrong! This game would probably never see power colors for another mmmmm nine months if it wasn't for CO coming out with it first, try again!Wrong!
CoH had the color changing idea quite awhile ago, just now they finally finished up the code to implement it. It wasn't CO that prompted it.
10-1 dual builds was already a idea on the dev-plate before WoW even got around to it.
(BTW I played WoW before coming back here... in the last 6 months. I don't EVER remember the ability to make a second build.)
Just because the guys who make CoX have odd timing doesn't mean that they didn't already have the ball rolling before others.
and honestly I belive that you should still have to go to the trainer however I do belive that the time it requires between build switches should be lowered to either 5 minutes or 10 minutes at the very least, had it happen where I'm working on one build testing it out for solo play only and My SG starts a team and I have to tell them they have to wait a quarter of a hour just for me to be useful... yeah...
At the time CoX came up with the idea of power customization, Cryptic was still around so it was Cryptic who threw around the idea and they were the first to put out a game with power customization, not CoX.
