yeah I don't think GR will be anywhere near as "big" as COV, but there's a couple of very often asked for things (the whole going rogue idea, and pistols powers are my own personal wants from this), if they're done well (new stuff works, and doesn't break old stuff in the process), and it isn't too expensive (£20, maybe £25 with a month sub included) then I'll be happy.

[/ QUOTE ]

I only just pay about £25 for a new game let alone an expansion for an old game. £15 is much better

[/ QUOTE ]

Where do you get your games from? don't think I've seen a new release game at the £25 mark for years. (well unless its been in games deal of the week and it wasn't all that popular)

[/ QUOTE ]
Suspect when Shazan says new games that they are referring to complete unopened games that are new to them rather than games that have only just been released.

In the past year or two I shifted to £15-25 for a new game - waiting for releases I'm interested in to drop in price. Even better if I can get a 2nd hand copy for a tenner.

Makes sense since I've probably got several hundred hours of play if I just completed the games I've got but haven't even installed yet...

Ah right with you now i used to do that but i found i bought less and less games as by the time it had dropped to a cheep price i had normally decided that i didn't want it after all.

Now I'm lucky of a buy a game every couple of months tho i seem to have developed a addiction to CE versions cant win them all it seems

RRP ~ £24.99 IMO If it comes with a free month or play time, which I doubt. Without I would guess at £19.99.

And I'm guessing that it won't include a months play time because you will need an active account to play the game, the previous boxed editions all were designed to create a playable account.

But I'm most likely wrong.

I'm pretty sure they might make it available as a bundle deal with CoH too , for people who've never played at all - and that'd have a free month for sure.

I don't doubt it... but the free month would still be coming with the original game and not with GR.

I'd actually guess that it would make sense to do GR with a free month. People like things that are perceived to be free.

Even if they just pop in a months sub and add the price of a months sub (so that NC doesn't actually lose any money per sale) I think they could end up with slightly better sales as people convinced themselves that it was a bargain due to the sub. Only slightly better, as I already expect this to be bought by most people who have subbed for more than a couple of months.

I could see a 'free' month just persuading people (who weren't buying it immediately on release) to buy GR slightly earlier than they eventually would have.

Talking of free subs, you can now get AoC for a dollar in some stores, so if you bought 12 of them, you'd get subs for a year for just 12 bucks

For a while I found CoV (original box) around for under five pounds. So free game and some free play time.

I agree, CoV was the best thing that ever happened. I rarely play hero-side. ...but it didn't sell very well, now did it? They never eally kept building on it, because the majority stayed true to heroes, even heroes-only. That is, sort of, a failure. I think they expected it to sell better, and it seems they finally gave up and gave it away to the rest of the people. I'm basically (censored) off every day because they don't bring us more villaineous content, but I understand it since, even with Villains free, people still remain "loyal" to the blue side.

[/ QUOTE ]

In that case GR is "more" then CoV since it adds neutral stuff and generally effects both sides equally allowing both groups to access the new content. Well at least as I see it.

I don't care about heroes. I discovered this game because I saw a COV collectors dvd edition in PC world, and remembered thinking I wanted to try it out.

I'm one of the people who likes to be evil. Which is why when the devs of CO release Nemesis online, they say they're going to make it ALOT different for the villains.

CoV was basically a copy paste of the heroes section, but one of the CO designers said he'd make gameplay for the villain version of CO completely different, which I look forward to.

If there is people to kidnap and murder, extort, blackmail, steal from, then count me in.

I enjoy the feeling of ruining things for people more than saving some idiotic civilian in the street whilst clad in spandex.

Evil always seems to have a greater impact on the population that the good does anyways. Besides, I'm lazy, and a hero's work is never done.

I don't care about any of that...

Just the spandex.

The major question is: Will any future new content be for GR, or for CoX? Content meaning Story/TFs etc, not engine upgrades.

...and how long will it take us to get tired and fed up with the "new" content? How "New" will it be? When CoV came out there where some really new powersets and the MM was a new way of playing, and imho still the most interesting since different combinations definitely makes for deifferent game play, as for other ATs it makes little difference. (A blaster is a blaster is a blaster, with minor differences in game play compared to MM combinations)

If all we get are a few new zones to travel around in on our way to missions, generic missions with mostly old maps a few new powersets based on already existing stuff (malta gunslinger, cot demons) and one or two new Trials/T/SFs and the ability to swap sides, I can see a flood of whining on the new forum!

Of course we always have and always will demand more than we get, but as I suggested in the OP, we really should demand and expect something... special...
...and they'd better deliver!

Three subsequent issues will be mainly for GR, thereafter it will be fairly balanced. IMO.

GR will be a totally awesome enhancement of the game.

It's an expansion pack, going by just about every other expansion pack for every other game ever made it'll be more of the same that the original game had to offer with new story line maybe some new pc's and some tweaks and improvements thrown in ...

Which is just fine with me cause unlike some I actually enjoy the way this game plays.
So you'd better start whining already ... oh wait...

Well at the comiccon panel they were mentioning they had been working on aspects of the end to make things more difficult/challenging for level 50s. US side they've taken this as universal slots + new challenges.

One thing i am expecting though are new travel powers in GR. Think we deserve a new form of travel now after so many years of having the same things

And from the dev panel at Comic-Con, they've outlined the goals of GR:

Reinvent the early gameply experience.
Establish a new and compelling endgame.
A slew of new stroies to experience.
Introduce the Going Rogue system.

They also mentioned making 50s more powerful, with new challenges that make the current ones look easy...

Also, Praetoria may not be what we think it is, and it has a lot of secrets to uncover - plus, some characters are inhernetly good, and some are inherently evil, so it's not a one for one mirror version of Primal Earth.

They also mentioned their work on Praetorians "new and old" - so we'll be getting some cool new mobs, I think
