GR vs CoV

it just makes it sound like it's funny of unevolved blokes with clubs and girls with furry bikinis. actually, might not be so bad if the world matched with the name it evokes.

Add in a couple of vampires and a demon, and that sounds like a typical night in Pocket D Union side

Yeah... I think you need to review your reading comprehension:

primal
[prahy-muhl]
–adjective
1. first; original; primeval: primal eras before the appearance of life on earth.
2. of first importance; fundamental: the primal resources of a nation.

Maybe you're confusing it with primate?

You're first definition is the one that is evoking these ideas. I think you're just worried you'll become a furry bikini.

Fixed, to fit his name more

And a fur bikini would be way too uncomfortable anyway if you were in a hot climate, and would be impractical if you were in a cold one
A cotton and lycra blend is the way to go, in nice bright or pastel shades - with patterns for parites, and maybe a flag one for special occassions

Really? How so, I wonder, considering the first definition implies time before the appearance of life on earth...

Also "you're" is not the same as "your": one is a verb being conjugated, the other a possessive pronoun.

I think you need to review your comprehension of my comprehension.
I'm perfectly capable of looking up the word in a dictionary and quoting the definition. I explained what it makes me think of. I didn't come out and state that was what the word meant. I used personal experience with the world to form an opinion, feeling that I've most probably been influenced by the way the word "primal" is used most often in places where I encounter it.
Lets not get overly pedantic about semantics.
Optimus Primal is an ape.
Primal Rage (I think that was it's name) was a video game about anchient beasts, real or imagined, whatever, fighting.
Primal urges are not those which come from before time or life on Earth. They're the main reason there continues to be new life on Earth.

If I said "this f-word is really annoying me" I wouldn't normally be saying that I'm angry with the act of sexual intercourse.

Perhaps I'm being epicly pedantic on some hidden level, but how can we compare Cov with GR when we know pretty much nothing about GR? Bar that it's praetorian,eg alternate dimension, you can change your allegiance and leave in the opposite city, there are likely to be Pistols and Demon Summoning, and it's probably a big, paid new expansion, just about all info on the matter is clasped pretty close to the Devs' collective chest. Not that those features alone aren't enough to provoke violent salivation, but how can we honestly make precise comparisons at this preliminary stage?

Posted

I was making a comparison about what we should be expecting (including the few hints we've had so far) and what the devs should expect that we as players expect from GR. Using CoV as comparison made sense, or so I thought, since it's the only "expansion" we've had.

Imho, CoV partially failed, so they should expect us to expect more from GR, not less!

If CoV failed as an expansion, it would probably be reasonable to state why it failed. For me CoV was about the best thing that happened to CoX, but I would like to hear why you think it failed
And if we know why CoV failed then we can define that rather vague "more".

If it wasn't for CoV I'd have prolly quit CoH by now tbh.

5 new ATs, 9 new powersets (I think:cold, therm, plant, thorn, zombies, bots, ninjas, mercs, poison)

A shedload of new content, simple zone based repeat mission introduction, plenty of QoL (so much has changed in that respect since launch I can't attribute any specifics to CoV but I'm pretty sure it was a fair chunk), not to mention 6 new (pretty large) zones full of contacts and a few GM hunts, a large number of new badges, new enemy groups (lb, wyvern, legacy chain), not to mention zonal pvp and the opportunity to make 'bad guys' :>

I enjoy it anyway

EDIT: 10 powersets* lol traps.

I agree, CoV was the best thing that ever happened. I rarely play hero-side. ...but it didn't sell very well, now did it? They never eally kept building on it, because the majority stayed true to heroes, even heroes-only. That is, sort of, a failure. I think they expected it to sell better, and it seems they finally gave up and gave it away to the rest of the people. I'm basically (censored) off every day because they don't bring us more villaineous content, but I understand it since, even with Villains free, people still remain "loyal" to the blue side.

So far, GR seems to have less power sets, less new ATs, and possibly less new zones than CoV - but as it's not supporting an entire new faction, it doesn't need to be as big as CoV.
But if it does add a "neutral" faction choice, then it still wouldn't need as much as CoV, because Villains could only access Villain content, but a neutral faction could access Paragon City and the Rogue Isles at the same time.

I was just rebutting anyone accusing CoV of being lightweight lol, or suggesting that anything that isn't bigger than it will be unsatisfactory in a paid expansion.

yeah I don't think GR will be anywhere near as "big" as COV, but there's a couple of very often asked for things (the whole going rogue idea, and pistols powers are my own personal wants from this), if they're done well (new stuff works, and doesn't break old stuff in the process), and it isn't too expensive (£20, maybe £25 with a month sub included) then I'll be happy.

I only just pay about £25 for a new game let alone an expansion for an old game. £15 is much better

true. and with more competition in the market, a box on the shelves with a price half that of an other game would look good, even if GR is an expansion.

Where do you get your games from? don't think I've seen a new release game at the £25 mark for years. (well unless its been in games deal of the week and it wasn't all that popular)
