To get the subject back on the track - however unlikely - I'll have a follow-up question:

While it's nice with another DXP event, the calendar seems rather emtpy. Are we getting any 2009 calendars at all this year, or have you decided to stick to the "it happens when it happens" formula?

I sort of liked those wallpaper calendars, not to mention the google calendar that kept track of events as well. Sure, we can probably figure out when the next halloween event is, the winter event etc, but...

...now give it a few seconds, and you'll have the typical +1 post about animated hair. Just wait for it...

if the XP rate of the double weekend would be the normal XP rate, i would be happy for ones about this game.
then again, saying this now only asks for excuses of other members.....

Yea I miss those calendars too, they were cool just for knowing when stuff is gonna start and what not...and just cos they were cool.

Well I'm not taking the blood...I'd much rather go for the shrubbery

MA included... that's daft!!!

More free lvl 50's...

Only for those that use MA to play that way.
For us others who cannot stand either boring farming MA missions or "real" missions with the same boring qualities (e.g. defeat all missions on large maps with almost identical enemies all the time) it is nice to have MA as an option also.

MA isn't a success. All the farming and PL just makes it look that way. If it was a success it'll be played for the creativity.

So what?

Is a double XP weekend really as important or as much fun as going on holiday?

It is played for the creativity by quite a few players - but they don't flood Broadcast with team requests, so they're not so visible

One way or another, players for once team up again for a long period of time. When was the last time there was such huge team-up, apart from PI?

What are the alternatives? Flying around the whole freaking paragon islands to find yet another cave with again the same mobs and yet another clicky? Or finaly reaching zone XX then after talking to an NPC have to go back allll the way?

Or a TF of wich the majority bails out way before the end, result in a wasted 2 hours?

At the end of the line, its all the same. Either i do 40 newspaper missions or 20 PI missions, or i just stay happy at 1 place and join teams sharing the same goal.

Apart from that, those who only play on EU, dont even know how its like on the US, not the elitism like the EU 'we dont need empaths' mentality.

The odd minor event like dxp could be used as a small incentive to play CoH. Maybe there's no calendar as PS/NC wanted to remain flexible with these in light of a certain other competing product that's meant to launch sometime soon.

Actually I'd say that all the farming and PL is seen as a minor failure by virtually everyone (players and devs) who doesn't use it for farming/PLing.

The devs stated that it wasn't to be a tool for farming and many players object to farming (or at least to unending farm broadcast and tells for fillers).

And whilst I don't think it's quite as bad as some people seem to say, there are definitely more high-level newbs about these days... But that just brings back some of the fun of playing with people and being surprised by what they do.

And by many it is. And by many others it's a success for the chance to be creative.

I'd actually guess that by most measures MA has been a success. It's just a shame that the places it can be seen to be an annoyance or potentially destructive to the game are the most vocal/visible ones.

And also a shame that the counter-measures to misuse (from intended use) that were promised never seemed to appear in a visibly effective form. And that the devs have resorted to alternate approaches that can wreck legitimate creative use - possibly turning people who didn't misuse the system away from it.

@Golden Girl, You will always paint a pretty picture of anything going on in Paragon. Its as though you make money of products shipped and subscriptions kept up.

@Synergy, News missions and Radio missions are the most basic ones going and for me the most boring. Soloing them maybe fun for some or a breeze free way of getting to a goal but I think it's better to do missions where ya come close to having ya butts whooped if ya not clever, adapting to anything new as a team, giving others specific jobs even. News and Paper don't qualify as challenging, getting everything done in the Bank missions might solo.

If the majority are bailing out of any TF they've either not been clued in at the beginning on how long they can take, what they're for or the team dynamics is barely stomach - able. Such teams do exist. No one likes being told how to play and you can't help the way people choose to slot, so you can be stuck with ppl who are lax. Such teams in my experience can be counted on one hand excluding Cavern trial where ppl have to be told how to click a stone. Empaths aren't ever needed. People create their own rules of play, this in turn is inflicted on other people as well as themselves which makes empaths look like a necessity. I've hated many teams that I have emped in, as they play dumb as hell. Perhaps people do stick their head in a dark oven using a candle to see for gas.

@Judgment Dave, I have logged in, gone to AE and been in a couple of Arcs friends have made and want checked out. But the rest has been either solo from other people only doing farms, farms to see what the fuss is about or standing around for ages to see if there are people who do arcs cos theyre new. But lately I have yet to see a PuG put together to try some random Devs choice and I play on all servers.

I was in a PuG yesterday, doing random (non-farm) AE missions. So they do happen.

I quite often team with a few rl friends and pick some random non-farm AE missions, espically if we don't have a lot of time on together which is often the case due to the times each of us can get online.

I've also been known to pick up and solo quite a few AE arcs if I can't be bothered with trecking round the city for the various different arcs, most of which i've already done on other characters.

I havn't however, seen a PuG doing non farm AE missions. I did try to make one once... I think we managed one mission before half the team were moaning about the xp and the other half suggesting farm arcs

I did not argue whether MA was a success or not. I just do not see a point of excluding it from DXP, since that is a part of the gameplay available, regardless of how and how much it is used.

Perhaps we should exclude less played zones also from DXP? Or perhaps the regular missions that could be considered less creative?
In the name of Proper Content we certainly must ensure that people earn the XP the Right Way For DXP.

these days I started to receave tell invites over pm for farm missions. I never accept it if its a farm mission. Last farm I was getting 3-4 bars in 20 min on a lvl 44. Its sick... the mission was boring as hell too.

So I quit the team. There was a new player in it too. Who never saw anything outside the building.

The travelling around is to make sure you experience the city. Otherwise building zones is totally useless. Then an interface directly from login to MA would be enough. So yes.. travelling is needed. Hunts outside too.

There is need of more anti-farm stuff.. I was in a mission with dozens of forcefield wielding allies. Is it really hard to set a limit on allies using the same set? or even to set a limit on allies period.

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

Probably a bad idea to send level 5 players on a mission to introduce them to MA. May be move the mission up higher to level 25, and prohibit characters under that level from taking part in any MA mission. It also seemed to me to be ever so slightly over-zealous placing AE buildings in every zone, when one or two in carefully considered and chosen locations would have been ideal.

[/ QUOTE ]Do you really do not see the point in excluding MA from dxp or is it that you just do not want to see the point? Whatever it is, it is probably the reason why your "suggestions" do not make any sense at all.
Remove dxp from less played zones? Did you actually think about that before you posted it? What does removing incentive from something that is obviously unpopular to begin with have to do with excluding MA from dxp... or anything for that matter?
Or removing dxp from less creative content... what? You really did not get it, do you?
This is not about frequency of play or creativity issues. MA is excluded from dxp because it is still easily possible to utterly break the intended risk vs. reward standard with user-created content.
So, while the developers can not completely prevent the exploitation of MA in order to get unearned rewards the developers can still choose not to double those unearned rewards.
This is unfortunate for those who want to play non-exploitive MA content, but rumours suggest there might still be some content outside of MA that could keep a player (who absolutely does not want to miss out on dxp) occupied for a weekend.
