Just make sure to save the date because the next City of Heroes® Double XP weekend will begin Friday, July 31st 2009, at 8:59am PST (11:59am EST) and concludes Sunday, August 2nd 2009, 8:59pm PST (11:59pm EST). For the entire weekend Hero and Villain characters will receive double the XP, Influence and Infamy for all of their accomplishments in the game. Take advantage of this opportunity to level up your favorite Heroes and Villains twice as quickly as normal. Good luck and have fun!

Actually all the schools in England and wales are im session.. Only schools in Scotland started holidays on friday past.
The weekend of the 31st of July is peak as its when th whole of the UK are off at the same time, hence why its more expensive to book a holiday during that week... because it's the "PEAK" time.

Don't be facetious, It's common sense that slap bang in the middle of the summer holidays people will be on holiday.
Canifax, i'm confused..... when do you have your summer holidays, September sometime perhaps?
I was not saying that the game is based on when Egland schools have their holidays, considering im not English and not at school this would be a bit odd for me to think that way.
I was only saying, and I re-itterate... 31st of July is SLAPBANG in the middle of everyones holiday, it's reasonable to beleive that people will be on holiday.

Said that, some people forget how greedy players turn when DXP occurs, it's a nice way to expose who is who and if they bow down to XP or if they just let it occur as a side-effect of their enjoyment playing with others.

We've had our secondary schools (12-18 year olds) off for a month and the primaries off today. So the next two are the busiest for people going on holidays over here. And since it's the 4th of July this weekend I'd guess the same applies for the States.

Not everyone goes away or abroad for the holidays, in fact this year it's been suggested that people are taking less time away from home due to the economic situation.
Regardless, If people are going away it's simply bad luck. There'll be another DXP event at another time. It's a game, get over it.

Depends again. Most primaries the 1st week in September, most secondaries the 2nd week, colleges usually towards the end of Sept, universities are even later.
None of which makes any odds to me really, I work, as do most people playing CoX.
The point is that there will always be a bad weekend for some players and if the devs want a summer time event it's bound to clash with a fair few holiday plans.
So far I've managed 1 DXP weekend I think, every other one I've been on holidays abroad (even the one in March or April 2 years back).

Should do what I did when I got married.
Make sure the honeymoon doesn't start until a couple of days after the wedding so you get a day to play.
Of course, my wife plays too, which makes it easier

Oddly I know several people who are on holiday from school right this minute and I know that they go to school in England. (Down south to be precise) (Based on my living in north Yorkshire).
