I'm trying to be optimistic but I'm pretty bored with it all to be honest. I've tried the usual routine of having a break when I get that feeling but each time I've come back, the time spent playing before getting bored again has been shorter than the last time. Looks like the dreaded real life is calling me

[/ QUOTE ]
Thats how I keep my interest. I leave the game alone for a while and I come back and a good bit has changed then I think "Wow! When did this happen?" and immediately become interested again. The thing about CoX that holds a lot of peoples attention (mine in particular) is the banter you have and the people you meet. You can have a good time joking with them rather than playing the game, that's why I stay at the game.

Really? Damn that was a bit of a let down
Well I'll have fun with the new SF and TF.. But even more fun with the new costume parts

That's not official - it's just my opinion
As I15 is meant to be for the anniversary, then there's a limit to how much they can put in it before the anniversary period passes.
Plus, it's coming on the back of a major new feature, so there's obviously still work to be done on that too.

So think of Issue 15 as Issue 14.5

In that case, I15 is actually the missing 0.5 of 13.5, so I15 is really I14

Which means we've had two half issues and thus are due two more full issues in a year?

They were appropriately appalled

They're now putting it all together.

Eight legs, one body, silk,

Well, I'm kinda expecting I16 around July/August, for the CO release - so that'd leave pelnty of time for another Issue around Christmas.

Listening and even doing that which has been requested won't stop those that used to like the game, are now sick of it but don't want to admit it to themselves, and know where the forums are.

"I love the game (but I'm going to complain constantly)", seems awfully close to "I loved the game, but I'm tired of it and don't recognise the fact".

Another thing that would help would be if everyone was banned from the forums at work (including me, no exceptions). Constant access erodes the enthusiasm, and seems to add to the ennui that will inevitably arrive with anything if you are exposed to it for long enough.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm quoting all that because it really needs repeating. Nothing sapped my will to play and enjoy this game like using these forums too much. I vanished from both the game and the forums for a while - then I came back to the game, but I've never returned to heavily using the forums.

And you know what? I'm enjoying the game more than ever, despite being a veteran. And I'm far from being the only veteran who's still enjoying this game - funny thing is, to find these people, you tend to need to look in-game, not on the forums.

I do think all the complaints here are putting people off, too. There was an argument recently where someone said they complained precisely because they loved the game and wanted to see it succeed... and then a few days later, a post from a new player terrified the game was about to shut down. Don't you see what you're all doing? Plenty of people, new and old alike, still love this game and are having a lot of fun, but a small (really, start counting the people who are complaining) percentage of veteran players are filling an area very visible to new players with all kinds of doom and gloom. I doubt it's helping anything.

Obviously things aren't perfect, and I'm worried about CO etc. coming out, too. But I don't think things are anywhere near as bad as some people here make out. I think a lot of you are just bored of the game and don't want to see it. Nothing is going to entertain someone forever. Maybe you'd be doing the game you claim to love a favour by moving on for a bit, rather than poisoning the atmosphere. I'm almost certain you'd be doing yourselves a favour.

What Cybercel and DR.T said. I've been reading these forums on a near daily basis since I've started playing 33 months ago (haven't posted much though ). There've always been some whiners and general internet forum idiocy, but all in all this was the best gaming board I've ever been a member of. But last week I decided not to read it anymore because all that post Issue 14 b*tching and moaning was actually making me not wanting to play CoH anymore, this while I really love the MA. Today I decided to see if there was anything new posted on here, what with the 5 year anniversary and all.
That was obviously a mistake. Reading these boards has actually succeeded in what 3 hours of traffic jams in the rain couldn't do: destroying the good mood I was in today.

So this is probably going to be my last post on here for a while. I'll probably check in on the Creative boards every know and then for Dr. Destiny's comics and the city of cute threads. Those always make me smile at least.
Not that anyone on here will miss me, but I felt like saying it anyway

Is the thread for moaning about i15 then? Or moaning at the moaners? Can I do both?

I've very unimpressed with I15, sorry, and I can see why people are disappointed after they'd built them selves up, thinking i15 would be more than just more of the same old same old.

I left just after I13 as that filled me with 'meh'; I14 didn't get me back - even though I was invited to the closed beta and read the boards. I have no interest in rolling my own content or trawling through the muck looking for the gems - and I said as much before I left, so no cracks about hindsight please, some of us had forsesight... it really wasn't that difficult to see.

I16 would need to be I16:CoH2 or at the very least I16:Trans-Atlantic Server Merge to have any hope of getting me back but I can't see either happening before something new & shiny comes along, frankly I'd rather go back to WoW.

Although I am finding the forum hilarious; the amount of Doom on these threads is just staggering to behold; the number of people who would jump down peoples throats a year ago for suggesting the game is getting on a bit and the servers are a bit quiet who are now leading the Doom charge has had me chuckling for weeks.

The people who championed MA before they saw it, now complaining how shallow it is and how it's killing the game - well done guys, you put me off even looking at it, god only knows how many potential new players you put off.

Little tip: if you don't find it fun anymore: don't whine, LEAVE.

Now excuse me while I sod off back to WAR, where a single zone has about as many players as entire CoH server.

Just for the record, I don't think this is a matter of CoH being doomed. I rather suspect that CoH will still be here a year from now, probably about as busy as it is now.

All I'm saying is that I've been disappointed by the last few issues, and I am not likely to be here a year from now.

And there's nothing wrong with that, or with saying that. However, there have been an awful lot of posts lately that read like they're speaking for everyone, like they're the absolute truth. As much as anything, I'd just like to note that these kinds of post certainly don't reflect my opinion.

WAr maybe had many players when it was released but many left after the first months, cause of boredom or an PvP system that is even more unlbalanced than COX PvP and WAR is all about PvP.

I doubt they have more players in a zone than COX whole server, at least 2 months after release the zones were almost totally empty and that was the time when WAR had more players than they have now.

Actually you are wrong there. Being a sycophant doesnt help anyone.

If people are negative, it can lead to things being improved and changed, whereas if people keep saying how wonderful things are then things get stale very quickly.

I would be one of the 'moaners' I suppose.

I would point out that this is a forum though, and whilst it may come as a shock they are open to players of all opinions.

I have been critical (moaning if you like) about the recent handling of this game because I love it so much - not because I don't like it

Too suggest that I should simply be quiet about what I see as glaring flaws in the development of the game is laughable.

I mean do you think that I'm being negative?

Currently the game is like this:

The ongoing storyline development of CoX has been sidelined, in favour of game features like MA and Inventions.'The Coming Storm' is nowhere to be seen.

PvP has been decimated by a heavy handed approach.

It appears that the Devs are not going to introduce new arcs - just TF's.

The zones that really need a refit, such as DA and Boomtown are staying as they are.

The much needed graphical overhaul is not in sight.

We have the imminent arrival of CO (and later DCUO), which like it or not is going to draw a number of current players to it from here.

These are legitimate concerns of mine - and others here. It's not just on the forums either. If you listen to players out in the game, you'll hear similar concerns.

The day I stop caring about this game and letting my thoughts be known on these matters is the day I will quit - and not before.

Sorry but both wrong.

Being too biased either way and offering nothing but blinkered praise or criticism is probably going to get your views written off as either a fanboi or a whiner.

But likewise hiding your criticism or withholding praise for what they are doing just because you haven't criticised/praised them in years doesn't help anyone either.

Just call em like you see em - praise the devs when they do well and criticise when they do a bad job.
