Farming, farming and more farming....

Since people make farm missions in the MA I can hardly find any regular groups anymore, even at lvl 1. Does that bother anyone else? I certainly do not want to play a farm game. Also, instead of making mission teaming more interesting, it is the same old grinding just with different enemies.

All forms of art will gradually (or rapidly) be directed to the lowest common denominator.

I don't know if anyone famous ever said anything like that, but I'm saying it now.

I guess it just goes to prove that those who PvP, those who RP and even those who play the game for the story are in the minority. I expect the City Of Farming add on pack to be released any day now, in order to cater for this majority group of players.

I personally play for creative work and teamwork. Sad enough at lvl 50 all I can find people for is inspiration contest also known as pvp and stupefying farming missions. If that is gonna carry over to the low levels I reckon it is time to move to another MMO.

Following the addition of the auction house, widespread farming, like judgement day, became inevitable...

Now I'm inevitable! Cool!

Am I as inevitable as death in Texas though?

All those broadcasts in Atlas of "farm taem plx" & "farm team needz ppl" have done one thing for me: expanded my ignore list beyond all recognition.

I use it for interesting concepts and good stories, not for PLing chars or getting insane numbers of badges (note: I do badge hunt, I like the shiny badges, but they're not the be all and end all of the game). I play this game to be entertained, and farming on that kind of scale does not entertain me.

I find that CoH, perhaps more than any other MMO I've played, is hugely dependent on the players for the totality of the experience.

The stories are great, but not very well presented... and it's all too easy to skip chunks by accident. Similarly I either have amazing experiences with a team (very seldom dependent on composition, but entirely dependent on the people behind the keyboards - banter, skill, and sense of fun all make the experience a grand one!), or I have a poor one... but it's all down to who I end up playing with.

Thanks to MA, sure, a lot of farms will go on... but they always did! Now, though, you can make or enjoy missions with like-minded types, and keep doing what you love!

Just my two cents.

Interesting question - whilst the devs asked for any farming missions to be flagged up during beta so that they could check them, I don't think there's been a single instance of a rule stating, "Don't call your mission FARM and have it filled with Freaks".

With prices falling RAPIDLY at the moment in the auction house, people are trying to milk it for everything its worth. All you have to remember is that it will eventually die down and people will go for the fun and "lol omg [censored] just happened!" arcs again.

It is SLOWLY starting to happen now i believe, more and more low level arcs are appearing and imo they are far better than high level ones at the moment

I just don't hope that the Dev's in their effort to stop farming makes live for us non farmers that much harder.

There's a bit in the I14 patch notes stating that NCsoft reserves the right to ban any missions that contain any exploits that provide unintended statistical advantages.

I'm not certain what the definitions of 'exploits' and 'unintended statistical advantages' are. Heck it doesn't even state who the 'statistical advantages' are 'unintended' by...

It could be argued that a farmer making a farm of easy to kill mobs that they can plough through maximising xp/INF gain has gained a statistically advantageous rate of reward gains... but that was always the farmers intention and we don't know NC's intentions regarding this.

If NC didn't reserve the right to ban on a whim it'd almost be worth finding out exactly what the terms mean...

Well i14 is still quite new, the rush is dying down now but I would not be surprised if quite a few players have just buried themselves in the editor, and teams for farming the bajillion new badges are still going strong.

I don't think i14 has increased the amount of farmers and PLers, at least significantly, rather they are just more obvious now because they can do it all from the starting zone.

You can always of course, start your own team.

Personally i don't care if people using the MA missions for farming or not (although i don't understand what they are farming, no drops in that mission and i think MA arcs give lesser inf. than normal missions).

As some said i14 is still new and most people trying to enjoy it instead of farming (at least the people i know). Custom mobs, Villian mobs/maps or vice versa brings a new blood to the game.

I wasn't usually teaming outside Task Forces but now i don't even bother with TFs. Instead i run my mission on test or play some soloable missions.

You can be right but also keep in mind some people enjoying MA just what it brings without thinking about inf/xp/badge gain.

I dont play to farm, i try to avoid farms. Im happy teaming and doing regular missions and enjoying some user created arcs in the bargain.

Farming has no real interest to me and shame to see that some folks just want to make farms, i dont see any benifits from farms compared to any other mission all drop inf, salvage, and now tickets if its a MA mission.

Farming for tickets has a minor benefit over other missions as you can roll for a class of reward rather than it being completely random assignment.

That said I don't farm but farmers can make their own missions same as anyone else. Just don't expect them to get great ratings

I'd say Farm missions have the highest ratings in the MA at the moment...

At the end of the day, NCsoft let us do what we want in missions, you pay your subs, up to you how play and have fun, some have fun farming ,some have fun pvping, some have fun reading great player created content, some have fun fishing thru the markets buying andselling its up to you how you choose to have fun, plz dont make people enjoy it your way, you dont have to click on the mision btw

My personal conspiracy theory about this, is that quite a lot of the highly voted (40+) 5 star arcs are getting 'sunk' into the 4 star void leaving the less voted, and more *ahem* questionable 5 star arcs on the front pages. I think I've seen at least 3 otherwise worthy arcs on the front page drop off because of this.

i was just wondering (take your point completly) but if as you say they let you play as you see fit. Why are they then deleting farming missions from the data base ?
