Although I do think that HoB will get the normal adjustments, I think making it more of a gambit might work well too. After all, many nukes give the crash, making it a do-or-die sort of maneuver. HoB seems to be more a do-AND-die maneuver.
I suppose I'd model it more on the Self-Destruct power introduced with the tech pack.
You fire off the power, and for the duration you can't be touched. (Thematic AND functional.) At the end of the power, your endurance (and maybe even health) crash(es) to 5% of your maximum. Give it a 5 minute recharge, good damage, and voila... a nuke worthy of the title.
Perhaps the cottage rule might rule that out before it gets anywhere.
Anyway, just my two cents... but it's a beautifully-animated power, and I'd hate to see it perform less awesomely than it deserves. -

*grins* Thread necro, perhaps, but I just had to comment...
If Kar says Zang Chi can drop Warbulk, that's where my money is. 'Nuff said. -

At the risk of stating the obvious... make sure you're not running Sprint in missions. It's a surprising endurance hog.
Slot your attacks with at least one end reducer early on. As far as Predatory's advice goes, I'm hesitant to recommend anything that doesn't work before level 22, as by level 22 (SO level) you can have three-slotted Stamina, which takes the edge off wonderfully.
Also, I'd recommend crafting level 25 generic IO's at level 22, if you can afford it. It ultimately winds up much more affordable than SO's (since they never expire), and averages out as about as efficient. Even if you can't afford full sets, it's worth crafting the End Redux generic IO's and the End Mod ones for Stamina, since then even if you outlevel your SO's you won't suddenly end up sucking wind.
Anyway, just my two cents.
[EDIT:] Also, consider slotting an extra Accuracy enhancer in there. Nothing wastes Endurance faster than a missed attack, and since you're fighting purple bosses... it may help you out. -
A hearty congrats to you, good sir! Fine work!
I remember making it all the way to the end of the ITF and having to give up in disgust... couldn't pull the bleddy Nicti(?) off Rommy.
The kicker? I was on a team...
So much fail. -

Why not make AE buildings into a zone, that you enter by using the door? That way you could also allow people to meet inside, even if they enter from different zones.

I consider this an ideal solution. Two thumbs way up!
For me, little destroys immersion quite so comprehensively as reams of OOC chatter, particularly when riddled with poor spelling, incomprehensible grammar, and all too often witless banter.
Occasionally it's grand, and I've seen some hilarious exchanges in /Broadcast... but it's a terrible first impression to give.
Just my two cents, anyway. -

Claws/Willpower was undoubtedly the most fun I had with a toon "out of the box." I'll finish levelling him once my Fire/Fire scrapper maxes out.
Also, off-topic, props to you, Cynic, for the Tim Minchin goodness in the sig (unless I miss my guess)! -

Love this. Search for Haelewulf, Bananas Gorilla, Sack O'Anvils, Warbeck, Tal Jace and Carolinus to face me!

I find that CoH, perhaps more than any other MMO I've played, is hugely dependent on the players for the totality of the experience.
The stories are great, but not very well presented... and it's all too easy to skip chunks by accident. Similarly I either have amazing experiences with a team (very seldom dependent on composition, but entirely dependent on the people behind the keyboards - banter, skill, and sense of fun all make the experience a grand one!), or I have a poor one... but it's all down to who I end up playing with.
Thanks to MA, sure, a lot of farms will go on... but they always did! Now, though, you can make or enjoy missions with like-minded types, and keep doing what you love!
Just my two cents. -
Just spotted this.
My first (and currently sole) 50 is a BS/Regen scrapper, the Sanctified.
My current projects are an MA/WP scrapper (the Street Sovereign) and a Claws/WP (Blacktalon). Lovin' it.
I've tried various other flavours over the years, but I too have severe altitis. The reason I tend to favour Regen and now WP is due entirely to Quick Recovery. I hate watching that blue bar. *grins* -
Alrighty, so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before (my search-fu being somewhat weak), but in the AT guides on the main site ( CoX EU site linkage ) , it notes that Defenders can be "very easy to solo." I mean, compared to a Scrapper, for example, or a Tank? Really? Sure, it adds the caveat of "well-built", but considering that a properly tricked-out build needs to be around level 50 to access most of the top-end sets, and the average newbie is unlikely to create a high-performance min/max'd build on the first try... surely, for a newbie-friendly intro guide, any mention of a Defender as a "good class for soloing" should be excised at once!
Or am I missing something? Perhaps "easy soloing" and "effective (ie: fast, low-risk AND non-frustrating) soloing" are two different things...
Defenders are awesome, and some builds can solo awesomely... but c'mon.
Anyway, just thought I'd see if it's just me, since Defenders are probably my second-favourite AT to play (after my PB on a full team), but I'm not as experienced with them as many. -

Currently my only Defender is a FF/Sonic concept character... sitting at 15 due to lack of teams.
He may well be my favourite character, once he's levelled and whatnot. I do enjoy playing him... but never alone. -

I read the review in PC Gamer, which looked awesome... but I swore never to pay to play a game I owned!
...then, a year or so later, an American pal o' mine came over for Christmas, and at his behest a trial was downloaded... and the rest is brightly-coloured, spandex-clad history.
*grins* -
...although I feel that by adding to this I'm not so much beating a dead horse as pounding the slightly sticky earth where the carcass once was... it's such a FREAKIN' HORRIBLE HORSE THAT IT'D BE WRONG NOT TO.
*coughs*
I love PB's. I chose a PB, I would always choose a PB. I will try me a Warshade very soon, seeing as my first attempt failed to get past level 5... but although I could list many reasons to pick a PB over a Warshade, they would all be entirely to do with playstyle.
The OP was and is hideously inaccurate. To call it a "guide" is akin to calling someone who steers the blind into busy roads an "angel of mercy." At least he just referred to it as "info."
Just my two cents. -
Been in exactly the same boat for the past couple days. Ultimately I've just logged in disgust, since there's no way playing such conditions can be described as "fun."
Get it sorted, chaps!
...not that they don't have enough going on at the minute. *drily* -
*chuckles* While I take your points, I still find that when it comes to damage, I'll take all the AoE I can eat, particularly on big teams. If I'm ever tanking, it serves as a good way of grabbing aggro, and it's also good mitigation... and with a bit of care and positioning, KB becomes a very useful tool indeed.
Of course, this is no different to many powers in the game; use it right and it's awesome, use it wrong and it's either useless or disastrous. KB just happens to be one of the tougher ones to use right, and it's VERY obvious when you get it wrong. *chuckles*
Concept-wise, nothing screams "RAW POWER" to me like sending my enemies pinwheeling around the room with a blow.
Just my two cents. -
I'll drink to the inferiority of Hero AT's over Villain ones... All villain classes solo better out of the box than their heroic counterparts... barring the stalker, of course. They have a far more self-sufficient feel to them... and although the teaming is great with either, I think there's a definite and discernible difference in the amount of personal achievement over synergy when it comes to villains.
Still, your mileage may vary. -
Incidentally, welcome to the game! We ran into each other last night, as it turns out... I was the red and gold helmeted chap called Marrek. One of the chaps on the roof... *winks*
Nice to see we didn't put you off the game! -
...despite being a 24-month vet I was recently called an idiot on my new Ninja/Storm Mastermind, the Yellow Gentleman.
And boy, did I ever earn it.
Dropped Snowstorm (or whatever the anchored debuff is) on an Archon in a mob of 20+ nasties... on a 5-man team.
EPIC fail. The fact I did it with a macro by accident is entirely beside the point.
The true noob-ishness, however, was when, after the first wipe, we went back for another shot, I tried to use Gale to keep the two or three stragglers in with the rest.
...full group aggro again. Who knew Gale was so decently ranged?
As far as elitism goes, I get it. There's little as annoying as repeated team wipes and plain stupid playing, particularly if you have little time to play. I was originally a member of the 47 ties as well, and they were a lovely and friendly group. Now I run with the Pride of Paragon, great guys... and it's great, because it's always more fun to play with good players. You achieve more, you wait around less, and you try to match the standard.
Having said that, new players occasionally get the whiplash from people that have repeatedly been annoyed. For many of my friends and me, it irks us greatly when we stand around RP'ing in Local, and some clown comes in and starts dancing or jumping in the middle of the group. C'mon, that's practically griefing. A guy on a trial account did this last night... and while my friends were understandably FULLY fuming, I sent him a friendly tell informing him that such behavior seldom goes down well. He then kept his distance (since he couldn't reply by tell.) All's well that ends well...
*grins* Shortly after that, Healer-Hero himself swung by, but left as soon as he realized we were RP'ing as well. Good man, that one. And no one can call him a noob! -
Never had a problem that /sync couldn't fix... 'til last night. Just about DID MY HEAD IN. Rubberbanding, powerlag, "ghost towning"... you name it, I had it. Internet was chugging along nicely, and I have a quadcore processor, 4 gig of RAM, XP and an 8800 GTX. Fumin', so I was.
And then I switched to CoV, after trying umpteen different toons blueside, and all was well.
NOT AMUSED.My teammates had no such issues. I was most perplexed.

Let me add my congratulations to Stryke's. You may notice I haven't bothered to register on here before now, but I do browse... mostly the US forums, but they don't let me register there. *chuckles* Still, there're good folk here, so I'm glad to join the throng.
That being said, I DO have a bit of experience playing a Peacebringer (Warshade having proven to be a bit less "my style.")
I play all-human, and have done since I respec'd around level 12. I found my survivability increased, and while my damage dropped somewhat, the availability of slots in shields and human-form attacks softened the blow drastically. Moreover on a nicely-arranged team I can deal massive damage and have massive resists, thanks to our inherent. I really feel the difference when I solo. A teamed Kheldian can be a mighty and awesome thing indeed...
As it stands I now have a level 44 PB, humanform, who can tank, blast, and scrap like a beast. Throw in bonuses from team-mates, and I'm potentially all but unstoppable, with massive damage. The slots and powers that being human-only freed up made all the difference, late-game. I even have a fun and fancy (not to mention effective) heal! It's Incandescent Strike and Radiant Strike that really sell a human-form PB mid-game, and it's those two with Stamina, Hasten, Swift, the heals, the shields, Light Form, Photon Seekers, Dawn Strike, Build Up, Solar Flare... etc. that sell it late game.
I love my Peacebringer. Solarius is easily my favourite toon so far, and with a team, he's just a natural disaster. In a good way.
But hey, just my two cents. It just always nettled me somewhat when over on the US forums several of the more vocal Kheldian players were always implying (when they weren't saying it flat-out) that tri-form was the only "proper" way to play a Kheldian up to their potential. From what I hear, that may be the case for a Warshade, but for a PB it's far from true.
So aye, just my two cents.
