    Glad I could help - I've got both /wp and /inv (albeit as tanks) and on balance I'd say the /inv has higher survivablility in general. Dull Pain really does make a difference.

    On the subject of recommending Alpha incarnate powers, I'd say look at the ones on Beta atm as well. Consider the Vigor one one - it affects end, acc and healing, which should cover a lot of the things you seem concerned about.

    I've played around with the build a bit and come up with something that should be better overall - better damage output overall, end usage, accuracy across all attacks & a higher defence against s/l/e/n damage albeit with a slightly reduced f/c defence.

    Main thing I've dropped is Haste (which should help some with the end issues) as you've enough attacks to fill any holes and Dull Pain only takes a little longer to charge back up up (147 seconds as opposed to 130).

    At the least, it should give you a few ideas to play with

  3. I've also been hit with this. I didn't even change anything, simply looked at the total prestige we had on an SG via Settings, came out of it and within seconds was seeing the black flickering on the screen.

    This is reasonably solid, not too heavy on the really expensive IOs and should let you get through most content without too many problems. You can also up the defence relatively easily by swapping the Smashing Haymakers for Kinetic Combats.

    Hi ,

    That build actually seems pretty solid. If I had any major concerns about it, they'd be based on your endurance usage: especially with Rage crash on top of attacks (all 8 of them ) and running Darkest Night on top of those.

    Defence wise Darkest Night will be the major boost to defence & survivability but be wary of things like EBs and AVs who can resist the effects of Darkest Night.

    Anyhoo, I've played around a little bit with your build (mostly rearranged a and swapped out a few IOs - should still be within your budget) and managed to scrape a little more Energy/Negative defence and made things a little more endurance friendly overall.

    First off, your attacks are badly underslotted - you'll find yourself running more out of patience than out of steam in 20+level play as your damage wont be keeping up with the enemies you'll be fighting.

    I'd also say drop the first aid pool to get the fighting one - you'll take less damage from the majority of enemies and with weave they'll hit slightly less often.

    Flight is an odd choice for an electric type as one of their best defensive powers (Grounded) only works while in contact with the ground. Superspeed would work better unless your concept overrules that.

    The hover prereq for flight is a pre-Freedom/i21 thing. It used to be that you'd need to pick hover (or Air Superiority) from 6th level so you could choose Flight at 14th level. With Freedom you can get any travel power at 4th (thus endeth the history lesson).

    And you should always play around with and poke at a build to make it something that's fully yours and are totally happy with. There are no bad builds (ok, except that willpower scrapper who picked up all the powers in the leadership, medicine & presence pools 'cause he thought it'd be more survivable than a defender. That was bad. Annnyway ).

    But a build is always better when it feels like it's your build.

    Pretty much everything EJI says there is good advice and well worth noting.

    There are some great builds in that thread, although I dont think I'd be able to use the word cheap in connection to any of them (not with a straight face anyway ).

    A couple of things I'd add before you see the new (and yet suspiciously similar) EN/EN build is about invention set levels. They dont have to be at the maximum level to be of the most use for you. Quite a lot of sets across my characters are actually around the 35 to 40 mark - the percentages between level 40 and level 50 IOs are minimal in real terms (but never let a min/maxer hear you say it) and it can be more useful overall if you exemplar (that's going to lower level than yours for missions - either via Ourobouros, Task/Strike forces or simply doing a mission with a lower level friend).

    First off, welcome to the game and forums both

    This is a very quickly thrown together build that's about as cheap as an IO build really gets (now watch as someone proves me wrong).

    It gives you a decent start to defence and a couple of "escape hatches" at the higher levels in Personal Force Field and Force of Nature - PFF is more of a run away option whereas FoN is the go down fighting one.

    You'll find that quite a lot of players in game are a little... ambivalent... about energy/energy blasters - especially the ones who like grouped bunches of enemies (knockback tends to scatter enemies all over the place) - mostly tanks with a few brutes/scrappers along with a few from other ATs as well, which is why I've gone for the energy/MM option of the 2 you've asked for.

    One thing about knockback that can be turned about is Hover/Flight. If you're above an enemy then that knockback effect becomes more of a knockdown one. People tend to get a lot less stressy about it

    I've played around with a build for you and while it may not be quite what you want (I've put Grounded back in and added a full movement power) it should at least give you a couple ideas to play with. En/Neg def is just under 34 % with S/L at a solid 42% def

    I've used set bonuses and focused acc to give you better hit ratios in a fight

    I dropped crane kick as KBing things away from you out of the lightning field, power sink and dragons tail powers effects feels counter-productive.

    Personally I'd also go for cardiac as an alpha on this char than spiritual - the tier 4 puts both smashing and lethal res to 85% over the 77% you'd currently have (also pushing neg to 50% and psi/fire/cold to around 60%) and makes it wildly unlikely you'll run out of steam at any point in the endgame.

    Focused acc can be useful if you're going up against +4s or something along those lines as rage has a noticeable downtime on that build.

    The QR/stam sets can also be pretty useful - if nothing else the added HP from the set bonuses is always a bonus. Saying that, however, pulling 2 off stamina and adding one to Haymaker and KO blow respectively (mako acc/dam & acc/end/rech instead of the quad) wouldn't hurt in the slightest.
  14. You dont get the hero accolade as a rogue until you go full hero. You dont get both 'versions' of the accolade however, only the one. You automatically get the equivalent version (and badge) of any accolade you already possess on fully switching sides.

    I've played around a little with your revised build and come up with something that might serve you better.

    Higher defence across the board, better health & higher overall end recovery - while it looks like a higher end use initially that's mainly due to the Focused Accuracy.

    Global recharge is slightly lower but it shouldn't really affect you. At the least it should give you a couple different ideas to play with ^-^

  17. I'd say they'll be a lot more expensive than people have guessed so far.

    PVP recipes are in the 25 to 30 A-Merit range and a v-rare Incarnate Component is 100 E-Merits or so? You can only get one A-Merit a day realistically whereas you can get 2 Emp-Merits per day with relative ease.

    I'd say closer to 150/200 or so for a Purple/PVP recipe. Could easily be more.
  18. It depends on how many slots you're using. Straight numbers wise (iirc) on stamina the 1st two slots, the regain you'll get from 2 straight 50 IOs beats the +end. If used as a 3rd slot the the +end IO beats the additional regain you'd get from a 3rd stamina IO.

  19. I've played around a bit with the build and hopefully it's something close to what you want.

    S/L def is at 32.7 - one small purple off cap, as requested.

    I've squeezed a couple percent more resistance out of the powers, but I wouldn't go depending on it ^-^

    Hasten isn't perma, but it's not far off (24 seconds off to be exact), but as ultrawatt says it's overrated for most things.

    Mu powers are in, although the Striker's not much more than an alpha soaker/spare target.

    The build also now has a travel power >.>

    You've also got 12 points of KB protection, which should be good against most things out there.

  21. The only real problem for this can be Praetoria: lowbies can have a really rough time against zombie spawns as there aren't any "safe" areas near drones to retreat to (bank storage/AHs aside, there's nowhere to take a little bit of the pressure off. It's all or nothing).

    Hospitals especially can get really rough. Example: someone tries to make a stand near the front door of one; add in a few deaths elsewhere with a quick hospital trip, it can make trying to get out of there ... unpleasant.
  22. Hi Wallace :)

    First off, that does look like a solid build, but I've played around with it and come up with one that is probably a little easier to achieve - much reduced purplage - and this build should have a slightly higher damage output (on paper anyway).

    Overall defences are improved, albeit with a slight drop in a couple other places. Regen is lowered slightly - tho in real terms it only drops from 7 health regen a sec to 5/sec.

    Overall recharge is slightly improved with some powers coming up a fair bit faster.

    Both Call Thugs and Call Enforcer now have build up procs built into them - they may only fire occasionally, but with the fire rates of both sets being pretty good, it'll make a difference.

    All the MM set +def and +res globals are now in the build, that should help a fair bit with survivability too.

    You'd put aside a few slots for the inherent health and stamina but don't mention what you'd be putting in there. I've used a couple of those up, but it shouldn't mess up things too bad (I'd probably put health as 2 slot in this build with a numi+regen/recov and a heal for added regen from that and the set bonus too. Stamina would get 3 slots over all with a normal end mod and the Efficacy Adaptor End Mod and another part of the same set for the +hp bonus).

  23. I think another problem here is defence.

    S/L at 28% isn't too bad, as is melee of 20% but everything else is at 10%or below. Currently everything, especially AVs, are going to hit you waaaay more often than you'd want.

    The following build is for i19 (when it arrives) and bumps up your S/L def slightly, and everything else noticeably.

    I've taken the liberty of altering the build at points to give you a few other ideas that might be useful, or maybe just provide a different perspective on it.

    the empty slot on rest would go to inherent Stamina, with a perf shifter end mod and another perf shifter: chance for +end. With your miracle +recovery on inherent health you should have more than enough recovery with the occasional top up from Power Sink.

    Quick aside: ma/regen - I had a scrapper which I ran through to 50, but I'm currently in the process of stripping the IOs from that char. it was great at the lower levels, but even with IO sets it felt difficult at 40+, with debuffs really hitting it hard.

    Got a fully built one from them about three years ago that worked flawlessly (and the current one still uses the chassis and power supply along with some other parts from it).
