Are you mad? NC make money on City of Heroes hand over fist. The servers are quite literally bursting at the seams, they've been running at Double XP capacity ever since I14 went live. When the magic booster came out people fought to buy it as fast as they could, bringing the poor PlayNC store to a halt. They literally clambered over one another to give NC their money.
This kind of high sustained population is well above what's normally seen on an issue launch. A whole bunch of people are resubbing with the architect as the main hook. While this isn't quite scientific, I'm sure we all have numerous friends who once played CoH, who are now playing again. Then you have the vigorous advertising push, the Mac Edition, the Architect box in stores, all adding towards a significant retail presence. Players, old and new, are swarming the game.
I usually try to be a bit more restrained with my opinions, but honestly, CoH's future has never been more secure.

Last reports showed that CoH was behind all their other games (LA1/2, GW) but where GW is seeing a 'seasonal' trend decline of income (prob due GW2).
But, i think its saved to say for US/europe, CoH is still a big income.
But now i play on the US servers, things have changed in my view. Where EU seems quiet, 'dying', evenings in US is packed with people.
Sadly (or good if u never liked it), due MA, PI got way less crowded then before. Way less spamming for farms, but now its scattered all over the zones where a MA office is located.
End of the line, its good..

has anyone else had problems with the booster pack? I've bought it and got my serial number, but it says
"The supplied serial code is valid, but it can not be used to create a new account and it can not be applied to any accounts you already have."

I think the failed korean launch hurt CoH incom wise a fair bit as that was money laid out that didn't see much of a return

I know they probably have tons of support tickets after yesterday, but still heard nothing about the overcharging. Considering some folk cannot afford to just have money vanish like this and it could affect other things, surely, someone should have just sat there today wading through them and refunding. Its not that hard, I used to do it.

TBH I really dont see why it is taking so long. It really is a quick simple thing to check and refund. Even at 10 minutes each, staff could do 40 odd in a work day and thats only if it takes that long.

Wouldnt blame people for a sh1tty system. When it comes up "Error processing - please try again" or such like, you do what it says on the tin, so whoopie doo for you but dont go criticising people when it actually is not their fault.
