i dont post much on these like threads but if anything like a merger goes. ill continue as long as i get to keep all my charc names and charcs. ing badges etc. but tbh im keeping quite and just wait and watch what happens and let all u sad doom saying idiots speak ur mind.
Well if im honest and by the end of today theres no positive news from them then i'll be considering my options.
Its now painfully obvious that they dont see us EUs as a profitable option and are slowly closing us down. A forum merge wont do nothing to prepare the damage now i think.
I agree with one of the posters on the main thread stating whether its worth it or not to log back in onto my characters atm if they aint going to be there for much longer.
Either way if theres no good/positive news by the end of today/tomoz then i'll be getting a trial US account and seeing what its like stateside (like the game too much to actually quit it). Before iv said that i'ld stay here on EU side no matter what but the sheer lack of news/respect for us is unreal. Theyv had their devs/mods post on their forums since the main thread started and so they havent really got an excuse. Even a "We'll be updating you all on this soon" would be better than nothing.
So does anybody know what i gotta do to change the updater to US side?

We're yet to get an official response, so this all seems a bit premature to me. For all we know GR might still be here in some capacity or we may be given mods located in the US.
But of the options suggested, "Time to move" in the most appealing, and actually something I've wanted to happen for a while. "Leave us alone" is simply not going to happen, NC WILL NOT allow unmoderated forums to exist on their hardware. The most likely would be probably be "A little help from our friends"
"Fresh start" would be utterly unforgivable.

Uh....are you mental? They've moved all development positions in order to centralise their operations. It makes everything run smoother and cheaper. They'll leave basic support staff in place to run and administrate EU servers, but the most that'll happen to us is getting the forum merged into the US one so they can roll all community support together.
Essentially, now that money isn't so easy to come by, NCSoft are, like many other companies in the current environment, streamlining their operations and trimming the fat in a way they frankly should have in the first place but never bothered to when things weren't so difficult.
City of Heroes is still an NCSoft moneymaker and marginal as we may feel or possibly even appear, the EU servers aren't going anywhere because of that. NCSoft is cutting its overheads, not us.

Have you seen the supply in the Auction House recently?
(not that I'm saying its pure doom, but its certainly made certain things rather hard to purchase)
I think basically this forum will be merged with the US, as it makes little sense to be running 2 (and always did). I doubt the servers will change at all (but I'd be happy if they did).
In other words I agree with Khorak, all they're doing at the moment is getting rid of unneeded excesses in their operation.
I would be a little worried for the French and German servers though in terms of what to close next.

And what thats got to do with the EU section of this company not being in great shape is beyond me.
You know if they just ran one set of forums and used the PlayNC master account as the log in it'd be so much simpler.

If I did have to move, I might settle back on Infinity where I already have characters and a group. The population was quite similar to peak-time Union on re-activation weekends.

[/ QUOTE ]I have to agree with the ruggedly handsome barbarian in that so far it's mostly the development staff that are going. They were there mainly for Tabula Rasa which isn't even going to see March. City however has always been managed in the US, as per our odd mid-afternoon updates to co-inside with the devs being awake in case the worst happens. The servers themselves are probably maintained by a team already, located in Germany somewhere and the dev team has remote access as we all do.

Well, if they close our EU accounts and grant us free US accounts, losing us our Vet Rewards, SGs and so forth in the process... I'll leave.
Anything that leaves me unable to play the characters I currently have will cause me to leave.
If they merge the server lists, I'll stay - it's win/win as far as I can see.
If they shift us wholesale onto one of the existing US servers, then I'll (probably) stay. Depends what characters, if any, I lose the names of.
If they just keep the EU servers open and separate from the US ones (which is possible, but not hugely likely in the long run), then I'll stay.

The problem is most of what you call "doom" has happend or will happen,
Get of the fence and join in with the real facts.
Oh fine, if I have to choose from the list, I pick the full merger. Then, whereever I get lobbed, I'd get a transfer to the busiest server. I love crowded servers in MMORPGs. Tons of people!
Also, I've been itching to post on the US forums for a long time now. They're more active, and they have lots of people spouting nonsense about game mechanics that my elitist self desires to correct them about.
