£6.99 is a bit extreme though. £1 would deter people... And anyway, changing one database entry from x to y is hardly gunna break the server. I understand if it was free and people could abuse it and try and crash the server, but any cost at all would prevent that.
it's how the money rate is, and the pond is now close to the euro so it's reasonable.

1) Seller's market; if you need it, you've got to pay their price and that's that.
2) Shifting exchange rate against the pond. Erm, pound. If UK prices weren't changed to match, US players would complain that our prices had effectively become cheaper than they were.

That does suck. A fiver for a slot is steep. Too steep, IMO. Thing is, if we knew this was ALL going towards updates and such, then that might not be so bad. But if this is just profiteering? I know they need to stay within positive figures, but that is ludicrous.
And the name changes, that IS too high. FAR too high.

To dam expensive for a slot when you consider you can get a full from live or the PSN for the same price. I'm all for micro transactions as long as there that.
Yawn, relax, once the global economy goes back to normal so will our prices, be glad they haven't changed the subscription prices as well.
Upping the price for more slots and name change because the exchange rate has changed is a bit steep especially considering that NC soft EU is supposedly a separate entity from NC soft US there for our prices should not change to reflect there's just as there prices should not alter to reflect ours.
If I recall correctly then they're both controlled by NCSoft West now, which means that the seperation is only at a server and forum level and not a company one.
By rights they could change our subscription fees as well, the only reason they won't is because it wouldn't be worth the lost revenue.
Are they i was under the impression that NCSoft West was responsible for the development and possibly the billing side of things in the US but that NCsoft EU still handled all the billing and what not this side of the pond.
It also doesn't change the fact that it makes little no sense to change the prices its not like i can buy my extra character slots from the US or a US player can by there extra character slots from the UK because one's cheaper than the otter. I would understand if we were all on a global set of servers but were not were firmly split into US and EU the pricing of one should not affect the pricing of the other.
If anything upping prices for something that pretty much costs them nothing to do and is firmly in the Luxury category is probably a bad move in the current climate and will result in a drop of revenue not a increase.
Nobody is FORCING you to buy slots or a name change. It's an option, not an obligation for playing the game.
Subscription prices have NOT gone up. What's the big deal? Just don't buy the slots or name change, especially if you yourself say you don't NEED it.
Gosh, it's as if people on the internet purposefully look for things to whine about.
Good thing I bought mine a while ago. Still have a few slots free even. I wonder if the special packs go up in price as well.

And lets face it, putting prices up during a recession isn't the brightest move a company could make.

There is an occasional bug where a UK customer may be incorrectly shown the prices in the in-game store, and we have a current issue (being worked on as we speak) with the £ and sign not displaying within the in-game store. This may make it easy in rare cases for a customer to believe that the price has been changed, when in fact it has not.
I can confirm that our prices for character slots have not changed. I am currently looking at my in-game store, and it shows a correct price of 3.49 for a single slot.
If you are being shown incorrect pricing for your region, please contact the support team who will work with you to correct the issue.

£5 for one extra toon slot?! You think we're made of money? I'm quite certain they were £3.49 this morning, which in my eyes is more than enough.
Whilst I'm on the topic... £6.99 for a bloody name change?! What the hell! A little while ago I created a toon with a copyrighted name and sent a petition telling them it was copyrighted and could they change it to the name I wanted. They did it. How long did that take the customer service rep? 5 mins max? At that rate they're on over £200/hour if people just requested name changes. It's crazy, why the hell does it cost so much for a small database change?
And by the way, I'm not buying any more character slots. I was going to, but I'm not paying those crazy prices.
