Character Slot Prices

No you need to pay for your account with a credit card for recuring payment as the system no longer takes debit cards.

Wonder why they did that. Miost people would agree that debit cards are a far better to pay for things than credit cards. I also thought that credit card companies normally charged for transactions whereas debit cards were not charged in that way. All sounds very odd but I suppose they had a reason for doing it...
Personally, I use my credit card but then I do pay off the balance at the end of every month. If I didn't think I could do that I wouldn't use it at all. The inability to use a debit card would then see me waving goodbye and I'm sure there are lots of other people like me.

My continued payment with my debit card disagrees with you.
EDIT: Maestro is a problem that is not the fault of NCSoft. Maestro has made itself such a problem that some banks dropped it entirely in favour of Visa just because it was easier for them. Complain to your bank about the poor utility of Maestro.

I never knew real life banks had anything to do with a in-game AV!
(sorry, bad joke)
if the prices are not changed, doesn't that mean that euro payers get scammed?
i mean, the pound is just as much as the euro around now, but we still have to pay 2x more then england.
If the euro prices are meant to hold place against anything, it's the dollar.
Are you paying more euros for slots than you were before?
Sadly its more about the state of the nations currency than anything... because were entering a recession and the pound is rapidly devaluing things are becoming more expensive.
I do think the service for lots/transfers/name changes was over priced anyway for something which thier end is relately easy to do.. but agai I can understand why they want to put a price on it that limits it due to those who would use it to abuse the system (transferring recipes, currency and whatnot).
Still im glad I bought most of my slots back when it was cheaper, fortunately ive only had to pay the higher price on a few slots of late.

Hi,
There is an occasional bug where a UK customer may be incorrectly shown the prices in the in-game store, and we have a current issue (being worked on as we speak) with the £ and sign not displaying within the in-game store. This may make it easy in rare cases for a customer to believe that the price has been changed, when in fact it has not.
I can confirm that our prices for character slots have not changed. I am currently looking at my in-game store, and it shows a correct price of 3.49 for a single slot.
If you are being shown incorrect pricing for your region, please contact the support team who will work with you to correct the issue.

Look on the bright side... the game suddenly becomes a LOT cheaper for Americans to play on the EU servers
Maybe we can persuade them to open accounts here

[/ QUOTE ]The fact remains that unless you have an "accepted" card you can't buy anything from the ingame shop. Which essentially sells items that are unavailable to purchase anywhere else.
Maybe we should al petition maestro or something as they seem to be the only lot that think this wonderful new lvl of security is necessary.
(a wonderful lvl of security that didn't stop 3 people i know getting there cards cloned at teh local shell i mite add)

Wouldn't it be rather funny if EU server population took a sudden up swing due to the differences in exchange rate

SecureCode's only meant to be an added layer of protection for online purchases. So while it won't stop the card being cloned if someone gets hold of it, it does mean that if they then try to use it online they can't (assuming the store is compliant with the SecureCode policy for Maestro).
Visa have a similar feature as well, however they have not (yet) made it compulsory.
Yea i realise that GR unfortunately the favorite trick seems to be clone card details and spend the cash in Australia of all places.
Out of curiosity if Visa have similar tek but have still to make it compulsory what will happen when/if they do.
I assume at that point the in game store would have to be reworked?
Well, I *hope* that Visa will be aware of the problems that SecureCode has run into (specifically card-on-file and recurring billing) and will have solutions in place before they make any decisions to implement it as a mandatory feature.
We're still looking into alternative that we can supply through our own systems. Unfortunately there's nothing I can talk about yet.

that's not the point, the pound is now around equal as the euro, yet, they pay less then ppl who pay in euro.
conclusion, pound payers have things cheaper while the euro payers has to pay the full bill, making me ( and among other euro users) feel scammed by all this.

@Lyrik
Still seem to be getting this bug.
If you normally pay in Pounds and it starts coming up in Euros, does it matter if you buy anyway? Id rather not do anything without confirmation, as if I can get it in the Pounds I would rather do that.
Question is, does it charge the normal rate for area (pounds) even if if incorrectly shows Euro prices? (without the euro sign, stupidly enough)

Yeah the price is the same. In fact, just click through that you're buying it and the proper price comes up on the next screen to confirm charging your card.
