TFs are designed to be the fastest way to earn merits. However the number of merits is intended to be proportional to the length of the TF, so it shouldn't matter which TF you do. However, repeating a TF in the same day gives reduced merits, so it is best to not repeat the same one continously.

I really should do something about this signature.

How is Oro a good way to get them?
you mean go back and do arcs again?

Indeed that's what he means.

For example, on villain side you get 12 merits for Von Grun's Redemption arc (lvl 45 to 50) which can be done in less than an hour solo. I've not checked out arcs on hero side though.

Defiant 50s: Generalissimo, Righteous Bob, Splortch, Brutus Cayuga
Union 50's: Chimera Obscura, Diet Anthracite, Grim Proctologist, Puny Little Minion, Raging Bitumen

In Soviet Russia, mission farm you!

I'd second Posi no reason in can't be done in under 2hrs with a nice trio.

ITF can be done in under an hour if you have enough people who know what they are doing.

Also a monster hunt is a good way for a team to get 8-14 quick merits.

Positron Task Force is 55 merits.

In a random PUG team , I did it in under 3 hours last night.

The team was
50 storm/ice defender
50 warshade
<25 dark/SR scrapper
24 Shield/dark tank ( me )

The 2 50s may have been fairly IO'd up, I don't know. My tanker wasn't.

As for doing story arcs, most story arcs take about an hour and can be done solo. Most of them give about 5 merits.

@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.

I just did 6 hours for the posi, can be done in 3.. but not always

Best way to get merits quickly is to just play arcs/TFs, have fun and forget about the merits.. they'll come fastest if you aren't watching them.

BTW - why the great rush for merits? Long term, 43 merits from arcs is better than the eventually-useless DOs/SOs that you would have got pre-I13. And back then all you could have done to get the rewards was farm TFs/INF - which are both still possible options.

Not trying to be funny here, but I really think that you're in a better position than pre-I13 and can't imagine why you need merits quick unless it's just envy of the 1000-merit posters.

Respec trials seem like a good means to pic up merits did the 3rd villain respec last night in about 40mins with a 4 man team (brute, MM, 2 x stalkers) it went pretty much without a hitch and resulted in some nice merits at the end.

On a related note dose any one know if there's a compiled list of how many merits you get for mission arc's?

You may be right, Dave, but to support the OP, I must say that since I13 and the second build availablity, I have designed a superior build to the one that I have (inc. purples, better franken-sets, and generally 'better' choices) and am slowly building it up. I hit the AH now and then to pick up recipes for these IOs, but I'll also need to use merits to get them (since some recipes are actually easier to get through merits than to buy, inf-wise). Thus, I've been looking at how best to acquire merits, and save on INF a little. I've decided, for now, to run through some of my favourite flashbacks and get merits that way. I tend to lean towards those that provide temporary powers (might as well come away with more rewards!) such as wolves, cogs, or weapons that have 'number of uses' over 'game time left'.

Double XP weekend will see my SG running all six Freedom Phalanx TFs in three days. That will give me a nice fistful of merits, and of course, double the INF to build them with.

To the OP - if you're soloing, run some fun flashbacks. Teaming? Run a TF. Only a little time to spare? Go and hunt a monster. IMO, the most reliable one to show up (not couniting Lusca) would be Adamastor in Dark Astoria. I swear, he NEVER leaves.

My personal favourite villainside is a small VEAT arc that I can do in about 11 mins for 7 merits. Heroside 40-45 Kheld arc for 29 merits seems to be the favourite

*blink*

Good question, but I doubt it.

The rewards that have been doubled in the past have been XP/Inf/Prestige. They've never granted two rare recipe rolls on a completed TF, for instance. So I'd guess that the merit awards will be unaffected by the DXP weekend... or at least that will be the intention. They might have screwed up the code.
