Day jobs

While the day jobs bit looks quite cool, specially the accolades http://uk.cityofheroes.com/game-guid...ning_day_jobs/, I hope that they let you turn off the double experience feature, as personally I hate being forced to level if I want to do other things.

Sorry but did you see that required logout time for the badges?

30 Days?!

Sweet jesus...wont be using this feature that much then...sure some of my unplayed alts would use it but bugger that for my main ones...

even with it being non-consecutively...it's still going to take a long while to earn one.

Well, the game is open ended, not everything should be completed within a day of it being released. Just look at it as something to look forward to eventually. if you don't keep track of it it'll pop up one day and you'll have a nice surprise.

yeah but 30 days?

I could understand say, 10 days offline but 30 just seems a bit excessive to me.

I have a few toons that have been offline for more than 30 days, when you have quite a few it's a bit of a mare to want to play them all!

I suppose the 30 day accolade system should outrage me but I'm more angered by the "Commuter" day job. Are the bloody kidding? Commuting isn't a job!

I was hoping for some sort of comic-store owner day-job, and I hope it's gonna be included at some point. It could give an extra piece of invention salvage.

Apart from that, the system seems solid to me, it'll be interesting to see what people choose

Are those 30 days whole days or fractions? I mean, are they er... 24h = 1340 minutes? I think I've rarely been 1 day without playing my main badger... glups...

Well, it was mentioned that not all day jobs are listed so who knows what else is there to find. I'll definately will be doing some scouting of area's to see just where they have added others.

As I said in the announcement thread, it's something I really like and look forward too; including the double xp feature. I've experienced it in other games and it was nice to have a burst of XP on alts I didn't play for a long time. eventually I could alternate between them aside of my mains and still level them decently fast over short period of play times.

but you don't play 24/7 I assume? So even if you'd play 14 hours a day, you'd still be offline for 10. Then it doesn't sound like a whole lot to me.

You don't have to leave them offline for the entire chunk. Normal log off time in the right place over a period of time = badge

I hope it just means for every day you log in then out . . . . that counts as 1 day 24 hours later.

Otherwise good feature Now show us the pvp changes castle! I wanna see WHY my [blind] attack has gone up like 160% in pvp zones

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

30 days sounds doable to me. After all you will get at least 8 hours each day. And that is assuming you play the rest of the time. So assuming you play maximal 12 hours a day you will get your first badge in 60 days and your second in 120 days with an accolade. It requires some planning but its easily doable.

Think of it as an opportunity - working hard on your badges in-game and down the pub at the same time!

I think your right on the mark there.

When characters are logged out from a designated location (consecutively or non-consecutively) for a total of 30 days they will earn a badge associated with the corresponding Day Job.

Says it all really.

30 days pah...

At least five of my characters haven't been logged in for 30 days plus now. One of my villains is currently about 90 days offline.

Should be 300 days to be meaningful.

I like it, though I dont think jobs as random salvage are going to be used as much as the exp bonus upon completion.
I will be gunning for the cop badge, thats for sure

Only if you log out of the game at the same time >.>

I want to know if:

a) The accrued time you spend logged out counts for the 30 days, in which case it'll take years (figuratively, non-literal) to get even one badge,

or

b) The act of logging-out counts towards the day, meaning you can bounce from location to location, logging out in each before a final logout and have all the bounces count as one day's logout in each place.

Until I know for absolute certain, which of these is valid, I have no opinion about the duration.

Sounds fine to me, I have some toons I've created who haven't seen the light of day for 120 days...I just luuurve those alts :P They get played every now and again but I tend to move through them slowly, playing one for a while before moving to the next.

In fact it's beginning to sound like this Day Jobs thing was designed for me

Hating to burst some bubbles here (if there are even bubbles to burst, even), but the awards won't be retroactive.

Posted

Hehe no bubbles here, just because I've not logged someone for 120 days doesn't mean I'm gonna start playing them more frequently when the day jobs hit, my usual lazy cycle will continue..:P
