Just read the entire Thread.

That just... sucks. Like really, really badly sucks. I hope everyone is ok. And sorry to those people who lost their jobs - Aero, Rockjaw etc. I hope everything gets better for you. And what people have said about the Community making this game what it is are correct. I've made some great friends and said goodbye to some of them as well, but I am glad to have known them. Good luck guys in where ever life takes you.

it jsut goes to prove what an absolutely amazing community we have and i hope all those invvle in the redunancy continue to post on here and continue to get involved with the EU crowd

I can see why red names don't like posting about the future of NC. Only a couple of days ago GR and Kerensky were saying the future is bright, now i doubt they were lying. Just shows though that they don't get told everything and i think we should all easy off when we make demands for information.


Gonna miss you Steven, your a top bloke and i hope you find something else you enjoy as much as you did working at NCSoft.

Same goes to the others i don't know as well.

I have already conveyed sympathy in an earlier thread.

The comment was meant as a take everything you can get way. I mean artwork, desk phone, the computer, everything.

I did not mean it in the way that it appears to come accross so I apologise.

I've only been to three of the events, and I have to say at Omega Sektor, where the NC Team were in control of the event, it was too awesome for words. I hope things work out for the everyone who worked on building this community, you'll be missed greatly.

Finally, thanks for all you've done, I may not use these forums often, but I'd miss them if they were gone.

Oh that is bad news. Commiserations but also good luck to Aero and Rockjaw on finding new jobs - and to anyone else affected at NC Brighton.

I'm guessing we won't get the official announcement from GR until tomorrow, but I'm somewhat concerned as to how it will affect the playerbase/game here. Surely the community team losses show that this is not just confined to the Dev teams of TR and the unannounced MMO project.

I guess worst case scenario is that if they do close down the EU servers/forums and merge our character databases into the least populated US servers then a lot of us may lose character names, supergroups and SG bases, and a few days of playing while the transition happens - and longer term possibly gain a lot of lag (depending where you live - the connection might improve for others, but I rarely get good connections to US servers) and lose our community feel from here (especially if we're forced onto the US forums).

I really hope that doesn't happen, that things aren't that bad, and that we'll get to stay on our existing servers - I'd rather keep the existing community and my character names and bases, than gain a potentially busier server. Still worrying, though.

My immediate thought was that after acquiring a full on dev team (NCNC) they decided to shed the in house team... But obviously it now appears to be more than that.

Sincere thoughts to all those affected, I don't doubt that alot of the people, myself included who are posting in this thread know what it is like to lose a much loved job.

There is often more than money that gets people to do things the do, and while I don't doubt that some or all of the recently unemployed people here will get far better jobs, there is nothing to say that they will get as much pleasure out of them.

Hope all you chaps and chapets find whatever you need to find over the next few weeks, losing a job is a major pain in the backside.

Hope you wash-up on some nice opportunities in the near future it seems no industry’s safe in these crappy times.

I have really enjoyed being a part of this community and attending events. Totally due to the efforts put in by you guys. Good luck for the future. I hope we still manage a twice annual meet up!

I'm gutted. It was great getting to meet RJ and Aero. You guys are great and thanks for helping make the community what it is. I hope you go onto bigger and better things. I also wish the best to anyone affected and has not been announced.

According to Develop, NC West will retain "as yet unnamed European executives" and QA and publishing staff - but the 50-strong development team and the proposed PS3 game they were working on are canned.

Major, major suckage. Even for the survivors it's gonna feel emptier than Defiant at 4 in the morning.

The only bright spark of hope is that publishing division - taking 3rd party games on and bringing them into the NCSoft fold. Best bet would be to do what most of the production staff did during ITV regional layoffs - set up indies a stone's throw from the main office, keep 100% creative control and charge properly for their work

From Kotaku, NCSoft West's David Reid states that they'll be dropping some of their less popular and non Triple-A titles to focus on the big guns and the upcoming PS3 games they're working on.

Ouch. Though they could always turn Dungeon Runners into a single player game, sell it for £10 or so. It'd take a little bit of work, but single player games without needing the huge backend server stuff that MMO's do might be a way to gain some profits. Or as you said Dreamweaver, licensing.

This sucks... big time!

I don't know if it's only me but I have serious concerns about a company who gets rid of staff who spend all their time and energy on thinking of ways of getting the community more involved in the products that company provides. I think it goes without saying that their need for profits blinds them to everything else.

Oh well, and I was so looking forward to Omega Sektor next year
