I can still think of one vet reward I'd love to see:

Fashion Emergency Teleporter (long recharge item that teleports you to Icon/the Facemaker)

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually...you know what...screw the second 'permenant temp' power option, I reckon that would make a really cool 54 month reward, I mean I'm only 17 months in now and stand about as much chance of getting that reward but it actually does sound quite nifty.

Waaah... I get free(someone will probably say it's not free since we pay on a monthly basis) stuff and I want to complain! *rolls on the ground crying*

Honestly... Anyone need a diaper change?
Maybe an icecream to make you forget that bruised knee? A nap perhaps? *pinches babycheek*

I agree, not with such a firm sentiment , but I do agree.

I tend not to complain if the icing on the slice of birthday cake I've been given is blue not white - it's nice compensation for the gift I've bought, as I wasn't even after some cake.

Not really. I see it more like:

NC & previously Cryptic: "Thank you very much for playing this game for so long and giving us your money, here, have something for your 54th vet reward that isn't even for your origin, so it's a bit pants, but still, we've thanked you."

I've never complained about anything in this game previously. This has got me really disappointed. But not enough to cancel my subs for the next 6 months...(anticipates the 57th vet reward..) and the 5th year (60th vet) reward better be something special...

Please note - my disappointment isn't directed at any of the red names here, as they do an amazing job in my opinion, but one would assume the US devs who decided this 54th vet cop out.

For me the Vet rewards are like a loyalty bonus. Bit like using game reward cards, or tesco club card or nectar card. The 54th seems like they revoked my loyalty bonus for 3 months.

Disappointing, rehashing old content as new Veteran awards is (luckily for NCsoft) not what I stay subscribed for!.

That's seriously unnecessary and inflammatory.

Just because people don't like it and think it's a lame reward doesn't mean they're acting childish.

Poor attempt at trolling there.
While i agree to some extent, i do not agree with how you wrote it. You're just trying to belittle other to make yourself appear above them.

Which is why I as a 51 month player should have access to these awards free of charge and 6 months later (year tops) you should be able to buy them. I don't think it's right that any item in the game should be completely inaccessable.
There should always be the chance you can get whatever item the game produces. Even if it's a low chance.
But if you want a 48 montrh award and you've been playing a year...

On topic, I think they ought to dissolve the awards entirely. As for the awards themselves, well yeah they are lazy and kind of self defeating but what the heck. Such is life.

Although FFM was probably right when he said they could have been another temp power or maybe another travel power perhaps?

Don't know why I'm suggesting vet rewards for a time 3 yearsish, give or take, in my future but I want a vet warwolf whistle, I'd assume on a 30 minute timer.

What's wrong with the 54 one? Snads of Mu was a great reward - it meant I could respec out Flurry, but still have the cool animation - and while the Ghostslaying Axe was never something I'd choose, I think it's good that people who might have wanted both now get the chance to have both.

I'll admit [If I'm still playing at that time] I may be tempted to take Sands and Ghost Slaying, hell if anything helps against CoT Ghosts its a winner in my book, Just wish the Helmets were eariler not as late as they are.

all the costume pieces should be on earlier veteran rewards

all the vet rewards that are just respec should be changed or just filled with some extra stuff

You know, before they introduced the vet reward system, I don't recall people demanding free stuff every few months - but once they started giving us free stuff every few months, some people started demanding more free stuff every few months

Well, some of us don't consider it free seeing as you need to pay them money to be able to access them.

But that's another argument for another time, don't really feel like going over it again.

The Arachnos helms are already available (except Mu) as the villain VEATs and I'm getting the feeling side-switching is going to be Issue 14 or 15 so heroes with those helms may be possible.

[/ QUOTE ]Depending on how it works, you may be able to create heroes with the helms anyway; that's how the Arachnos symbol from the Collector's edition works and the buy-a-friend Valentines promotion did.

With regards to the topic in general: why bother with this again? Each time it ends up in a heated discussion over what consitutes 'veteran', people saying how much the reward is so not worth it and general ideas on how to revamp the system to pick and choose what rewards you want.

How about we get rid of it altogether since people think it is so unworthwhile? That would solve all the problems and all the vet rewards could be bought via the Play NC shop.

I thought the boxing set was something I wouldn't use, Greek letters don't seem worth it since I've never used them, the tech set didn't look too appetising either but each one seems like... no, is a bonus. I don't pay for the rewards, I keep paying for the experience and these are a thank you for sticking round.

The 54 months will be of use to me; my empathy defender will be greatful of the extra power just as my MM will and I'm still a year away from them myself (42 months in August). I'm sure I'll find a way top use the 51 months as well.

Arachnos helms were only available to VEAT Characters in their first costume slot, unless you had a single one of the 4 CoV pre-order packs, 1 for us in the EU, which gave a single pre-order bonus helm.

Now they are a vet reward, I beliieve they should be moved up to either match the hero pre-order sprints or added as a reward to the 45 month 'Eternnal' respec and tailor token.

Then they could add a Tailor Teleport as the 51 month 'Tried and True' which could teleport you to any tailors of that faction Icon-Heroes, Face-Villains.

Which would make it easier for 51 month veterans to both change costumes, fit new costume pieces, get to the tailors to do costume slot missions and various other uses...

Atlas Park to Independence Port shortcut anyone?

Honestly the Devs are in a no-win situation with vet rewards. Make them too good and they alienate the people years away from getting them, make them too poor and they alienate the vets. Tbh I think these are fine - isn't one of the previous vet rewards just a respec and nothing else? (45 months?)

Personally I think vet rewards should just be tokens that you can cash-in for different rewards from a list/pool - then they could just keep adding rewards to the list/pool, but anyone could get anything specific they wanted with a few tokens.

Either way I can't really say it bothers me - it's a free bonus that the Devs didn't have to give us.

You could say that last part about every update of the game since it began though. Just because you don't pay extra for it, doesn't mean it's free.

I disagree. If you're eligable for the vet rewards in question, then you've contributed a helluva lot to the game's maintenance and upkeep. Veteran rewards were introduced by the Dev team to encourage people to continue to subscribe, and yet from 45 months onwards (I'm surprised nobody's picked up on that one yet) little or no effort's been put into them, and yet those are the game's most dedicated followers.

Feedback, for good or ill, is a significant part of why this forum exists and it is not wrong to use express real disappointment at what appears to be short shrift. Especially when it would be relatively simple to create something meaningful and useful.

Think everyone is disappointed by the 45 month one, but most of us vioced our opinion on it when they announced it. I still have a shred of hope they'll go back and do something about it :|

Like i said - it's loyalty bonus. Once it's handed out - if it seems it's being taken away or we're not given something we think is bonus enough for our loyalty, it's human nature to either be disappointed or want to complain.

It's like anything in life - 9 times out of 10 people will complain, but only about 3 times out of 10 do people praise.

This is childish and trolling, so far most people had just expressed an opinion without undue drama.

One that I actually sort of agree with, just not very bothered by it because I never liked Vet rewards in the first place, especially the costumes, you wanna give extra costume options to players? Then give em to all.

Anyway, I like the helmet thing, but I agree they should have given us a choice of a different power.

Yes. How dare we have an opinion about something.

Nobody is crying, most people are saying they're pretty weak. You're fully entitled to disagree and think they're the best thing ever, but try doing it without being an [censored] about it.
