I pumped as many IO's that gave recharge bonuses into my TA/Archery 'fender, ( I've rerolled him ) and I remember I could mash my keyboard volleying each TA power apart from 'Ice Arrow' out and still have a tray full of arrows left and practically 100 endurance.

Mind you, I only ran him with 8 man teams benefitting from [Vigilance] & [Conserve Power] as well as Recovery bonuses, End' Redux', etc.

TA is overpowered imo, it may not have a -regen but it can cause a hell of a lot of debuff. I love it!

Yeah, those first few levels are pretty harsh times, but TA is one of those sets that seems to benefit greatly from slotting procs; just threw the Chance for Smashing from Impeded Swiftness into it and the extra orange numbers are always nice to see. Acid, of course, is getting Achilles Heel; OSA might well get something tasty like the Shield Breaker damage proc (and plausibly another Achilles, because AoE -Res is win combined with -Res from Acid and Disruption). Might even go with the Call of the Sandman self heal into Poison Gas for a bit of extra fun.

If there was ever a build that needs a ton of global recharge though... *starts saving for purples*

All these people saying TA is good and I just can't seem to get anywhere with mine :S

I think it must be my dark blast secondary that just doesn't seem to work for me

Well, it's not gangbusters for soloing, but then Defenders aren't (largely speaking) going to win any prizes for power-soloing anyways.

I think Luminara over on the US fora is running a TA/Dark at the moment, and from what I can recall she reckons stuns are where its at (though IIRC she's gone with the Dark APP as well, which might be needed to get the Mag up to stun bosses via stacked Dark Pit / Oppressive Gloom).

My Cold/Dark was pure awesome, and still is.

I think the problem with TA is that it's nice to team with one, but fairly repetitive to be one. Same problem I have with Kin, only to a lesser extent

Stacking Dark Pit with Oppressive Gloom does take care of lieutenants and bosses, but that's not what makes TA/Dark as good as I've found it to be. You can stack Dark Pit with itself with the right slotting and a heavy reliance on +Recharge.

Stacking -ToHit from multiple powers and buffering that with some +Defense is what makes TA/Dark a good, safe build. Matching TT's range to NF's is what makes it less "work intensive" (it permits you to pick one spot and stay there, instead of moving back and forth to use your cones effectively) and more fun to play. And if you're at all interested in or passingly familiar with IOs, slotting three damage procs in TT makes it a very good attack.

Those three things make TA/Dark one of the most effective and powerful TA builds I've played, or even theorized about. I can rip apart a spawn along the walls in Cimerora in roughly 30s. I use the first mission of Maria Jenkins' story arc, the one with Chimera, as a playground, and I regularly test myself by beating the snot out of Chimera (EB version. i dislike fighting AVs because they take half a lifetime if you aren't playing /Sonic).

I think TA/Sonic may be one of the strongest single-target builds possible, because of the insane amount of -Res you can stack (60% with TA, from double-stacked Disruption and one application of Acid, or 80% if you're using the Achilles' Heel proc in Acid; and minimum 60-80% with /Sonic, optimally up to 100-120% depending on recharge and cycle times and interruptions to the chain), but TA/Dark, properly built, is nothing short of amazing for AoE damage and not at all lacking for single-target output. I'll know more about TA/Sonic's performance when I get Ultrasonia up to the 20s or 30s.

I was under the impression -damage resistance was capped at 90%?

How long does it take to get all that out though? It pains me to say it, but I think radiation might be best since its -res is in toggle form.

EF has a 1.5s cast time and applies 30% -Res. TA spends twice that long and applies 10-30% more (dependent on Achilles' Heel proc in Acid) if it uses both Acid and Disruption, or 20-40% with a single application of Acid w/Achilles' Heel proc and 1.83s animation.

And /Sonic's time to stack is exactly the same for both primaries, presuming identical +Recharge in the attacks.

The difference doesn't really favor Rad unless Fallout is factored in, and that power is limited to team usage and a base recharge time of 300s with a 38s duration, giving it less than ideal up time ratio even presuming a willing victim is present and high +Recharge is available.
