Oh yes, I just thought of something

What is your take on the empath(s) in RV (Defiant side) in team with a scrapper or a blaster (no names of course), buffing the hell out of the scrapper/blaster and with a perma lock for an emergency teleport in light of our inspiration discussion?

Just a renewable form of inspirations I suppose :P hehehehe

Read again ... I never said it's cheating. I just think it does not reflect on the true build of the toon.

I don't consider popping inspirations as cheating. If it was then it would not have been allowed in PvP areas. That is why I agree with Maelwys to the point that it does equal out some of the nasty things that gets thrown in your way in a pvp match

Take a thermal and mind/fire Dominator, loltk the scrapper / blaster, hold and kill the empath, kill the blaster, rinse and repeat.

Hahahahaha @ Spag

Wish I was that easy The specific person I have in mind parks his (or his brother's, not sure, a BS'er of note) empath in a good spot and he never comes out of the base, and in effect just re-buffing himself on the whole time (with his brother or his own second account, not sure)

When you query this player about why he does this he will happily switch to a villain (most likely the stalker) and would then pick on the squishies in your team!

Hehehe, suppose a little argument over inspiration is nothing compared to that kinda buffing

And if a large group of people were to tell you that you ARE a brute and if you jump of a 80 story building you will only take 80 damage and not die you would believe it?

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry but this arguement i heard it so many times so far is getting ridicilous. This is not the same as telling people something based on opinion. This is simply on facts.

Fact 1: If the no insps way was the right way and balanced one obviously the developers would have locked insps out of the equation in PvP.

Inspirations are part of tactical choice in PvP zones and arena matches.

Fact 2: People who moan about insps (and i not refer to you in this case since u seem to be on the 50/50 side regarding insps but i speak in general)from my experience cant kill anything without it standing still or without being totally vulnurable to something their toons believe to have.

[ QUOTE ]
Hehehehe ... sorry, I am not part of the "flock" and I don't have a "group" mentality, maybe one of the reasons I prefer my melee toons above any other toons.

[/ QUOTE ]

Flock and group mentality is what fits to cults and social patterns. This is a game mechanic with set rules.

[ QUOTE ]
I choose to try things out for myself and then make an informed decision about it

[/ QUOTE ]

Making an informed decision that inspirations are illegal or breaking PvP is not that informed.

Personally i fill my trays before any zonal or arena PvP and anyone who moans tough luck.

Dont get this personally i am just a bit fed up with the some lately constant moaning about insps.

As far as the test server goes i ll be there with my defender.

Make some friends, or take existing ones into the zone to kill him. the buffs he gets from his parked emp will be negated by a rad corr and a mind domi.

If that fails just lol @ him over broadcast.

TP Foe the Empath out into the open, or confuse a "sympathetic" hero and get them to Kill the Empath in the base. Caging can work too.

Or just go for BIG ranged spike damage, with a bit of Damage Over time to kill them while they're TP'ing.

Yes, I suppose ganking the hell out of him will not be a bad thing in such a case ... only problem from what I've seen is that when ever the villains defaint side get this certain player in a hectic hold or are near to killing him, that he teleports himself away in a jiffy

I am kinda waiting for a ice and thermal defender to join the little base parking empath so he can have the full array of buffs

Will start posting pictures of this "offender" soon :P hehehe

HAHAHAHAHAHA @ Maelwys

Classic ... good thinking there! So ... anyone around willing to confuse me the next this this happens so I can "make a difference" to our great little pvp'ing community?

Err... actually, since issue 12 changed the way confuse works in PvP slightly that'll only work now if the renegade hero is teamed with the empath in question. Can only attack teammates when confused now.

But if one can weasel your way onto their team, either confuse or Team Teleport would sort out that Empath.

Failing that, just go with Spike damage. Recall Friend takes a few seconds to kick in, and it's another second or two before the Empath can land a heal after TP'ing. Just don't give them that second.

Its not always that easy when the scrapper hes talking about is super buffed and is tp'd away when half health looms

Half a tray of yellows, half a tray of Reds. Or Forge and slotted Build Up.

Even Power Boosted Fortitude isn't that difficult to hit through, and with a few reds it'll fall to a double-AS (or an AS-ET combo or well timed multiple-stalker "impale"/"focus" hits) just like any other toon.

I don't care how well buffed a Scrapper is; providing you can buff your accuracy up high enough to hit it, an EM Stalker will two-shot it after chugging a few reds. All you need is a teammate playing "bait". With a few Spines or Claw Stalkers you don't even need the "bait", just good timing.

Bonus points for a Rad Corr casting "Fallout" on the corpse just as the Empath recalls it...

Lame as it may be to have a buffbot in base, as said there are still ways to counter it. Same is the case with insps. Insps arent "just load up on XXX", but actual tactical choices if you are gonna do any decent PvP match. "What powers will he use on me? Which one more often than others? Can I counter it?" etc etc should all be answered when buying insps.

Also dont forget that in an arena duel, normally you fight for 10 mins. Presuming you get a kill in at least once, he wont be able to keep perma-popping insps. Or if he pops multiple ones at the same time, he wont have any left at the end of the match. A good PvPer however knows how to counter insps and will make you eat those skittles in like the first minute of the match. So in the end, it still comes down to skills and builds. It just adds another factor of skill/build to it.

Because of this, I always refuse to duel someone that says "no insps". Taking my corr as example, I rely on insps to counter my biggest weakness: lack of mez resistance. I know if I fight a troller one on one without insps, I will always lose cause I'll just get held and hammered. With insps however, I know I'll only lose to a good controller and one that is just a better player than I am. However even with insps I suppose I get hammered by most perma-doms as they go "lol BF".

If my opponent uses them or not, I dont care really, but I WILL use them to balance out my chars.

PS. think of it, if the devs thought insps were giving people unfair advantages in pvp matches, why didnt they add a "no inspirations" option to arena options together with "no travel powers" etc?

"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

With regards to the Empath/Scrapper thing, either send in a suicidal 'to be droned' sonic/sonic and cage the empath. Or if the Empath is parked too far in the base, just cage the Scrapper.

Could teleport him right back out too.
