  1. Thabo

    STF EU record.

Why would they bring down the merits? Because 8 people (out of the thousands registered) is able to do this? It would be a sad sad day when the developers do that.

It is an achievement, and not every team is able to do it, it is a combination of the right powersets with the right people in control of those sets, and toons slotted to hell and back.

Nobody thinks about the preperation that goes into it. The TF time might have been 28 minutes, but nobody saw the time and deaths it took to setup to try and break the old record.

But sure, if you need to blame someone then blame us, but, we will still be dammed proud of our achievement!
  2. Thabo

    STF EU record.

Yar, we could have taken down the flyer to, had our tank sticked around for those other 2 missions *cough-cough*

Righty-O, thanks for the replies so far, and I be looking forward to the TF
  7. Who would be willing to run the LGTF on Friday?

Don't mind a mixed hero/villain team, an we have enough alts to chop and change the team build-up.

So decide what you want to bring (at least lvl 40 or higher please)and slap down your global here and what you might possibly bring to the TF

    1. @Thabo - Nagasaki's Legacy (50 rad/sonic defender) or Urban Chaos (40 elec/elec brute)

  8. Veskit

I mostly have either SJ or SS on while fighting, so getting into close combat isn't that difficult, plus with my style of playing I don't want to wait for them to come to me, I want to run to them and rip out their eyes, kick 'em in the nads, poke them with cattle prods etc

Would have been nice to have a extra BU power like a blaster or like you get on the claws with follow up. I would have even liked a power like some sort of a web grenade to stop 'em from running away, handy in both PvE and PvP

Though, I do admit that with i13 and the dual slotting things will be slightly better, but yeah ... I would just have loved to seen that little extra "oemf" in the primary set
  9. Hehehe, righty

I will drop it then, if I can't convince you then there is no ways I would be able to convince the developers to make space for a extra buff or some extra immob
  10. Cass

I don't disagree that it is a good power to have in certain situations (PvP, while main tank is occupied, etc) but I feel they could rather put another damage buff in there, or an immob power. Something that would compliment the primary set or your build as a whole.

My point is, if you really feel you need to drag a mob of a squishy then there is always the pool power.
  11. Diggis

Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Take the primary function of a tank and compare it to the primary function of a scrapper.

I think that tanks were intended to soak up damage and manage agro where as scrappers were intended for dealing damage as opposed to managing agro and, as a tank it's not "taking up space" of your primary set, but instead on your secondary set.

But sure, I suppose you can drop taunt on a tank and grab provoke, only thing is you will have to hit it every 10 seconds (on default)
  12. LostNinja

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you are missing the point (or I might be missing the point)

Confront takes up space in a primary set which could have been used for something else which amplifies the primary set or compliments the rest of the attacks in the set. Group Flight and Group TP does not take up space in a primary set and thus you can't compare it.

I say again, there is an alternative to Confront if you want ... you can take provoke from the Presence Pool power, so why did the developers think it good to put in a taunt for a scrapper in the primary set.

As for your sarcasm. It isn't the topic of discussion, so what you do with it is your indaba my friend. I couldn't care less.
  13. Lost Ninja, I asked.

I didn't imply that it's a crappy power and needed to be taken out just on my account. I was simply wondering how many scrappers took taunt from primary set (seeing as it is something you can take from the pool powers).

The one in the primary set if I remember correctly is a single target taunt while provoke in the pool power is a group taunt.

So, it makes sense that you could fit something else in there, maybe something like another immob power
  14. I've been running around in the CoX world for a while now, mostly with scrappers, and have not really got to a stage where I wished " Wow, I wish I took the taunt power to help that poor squishy out " or to "tank" a AV

I feel that the power could be changed out for another attack of sorts. (not sure what)

Only reason I am bringing this up is because I saw Matt saying something about NcSoft will be looking at powers that hardly get used in a set and maybe change them somehow.

But that is only me, and I know we have plenty of players running around doing their good deeds as scrappers and I was wondering if any of them took taunt?

PS: I know it could be used to slot some of the Taunt IO sets for the extra bonuses but apart from that did you find any use for it (one can always take it from the extra pool powers - truth be told I cant remember the name)
  15. The Posi TF broke me on my first toon and made me very skeptic about joining other teams who wanted to do it, so we used a dodgy wey to "by pass" this problematic TF.

Each guy who wants to do it log a toon in, starts the TF and log out and leave it up to one individual to do the TF while he start his own instance of the TF with one of your other toons and then he proceeds to the end just contacting you when he gets there to log in the toon for the badge.

But I agree, that is not the way how it should be done, nor is it any fun, especially when you are new to the game and Posi being your first introduction to TF's.
  16. Boy Wonder

I'll put you up as a replacement for either the FF or the Rad if we can't find one in time (which I wont think would happen in any case) ... I only know one other bubbler, and he also reads the forums, so I am guessing he doesnt have time to do it.
  17. I have a couple now

My first was a claws/regen by the name of Thabo, it was fun, but the claws kinda lacked the damage to kill a mob quickly, and the regen, yes well, it was something you need to learn how to play. I ended up deleting it a month or so after it dinged 50.

But, seeing as I love scrapping I rolled another scrapper in the mean while, waiting for something that was worth to be re-rolled on the name Thabo, my first. The 2nd scrapper I made and took to 50 was McManus, ma/wp. It is good fun, I love the high damage attacks, the little stuns and the rugged feeling you get standing in the middle of a mob, kicking [censored] and regen'ing like mad.

After that came Satui, my dark/regen scrapper. I learned to play regen effectively this time around, and I loved the dark set with the fear, and the high DoT along with the buffs and debuffs.

Then the fire scrappers came out ... I was weary of the fire secondary at first, and I thought, that in all fairness I could re-roll Thabo as a regen again, but with fire as my primary. Good fun it was leveling him!

Then I decided to see what the whole SR thing was about. Yes, I had a ma/sr sitting at lvl 32, but I didn't have fun playing him for some odd reason. I thought long about taking spines, and mixing it up with SR, but I can now say that I am glad I did. I miss the self heal and the quick regen, but I love running into mobs and seeing the "deflected" pop up on the screen, then ripping lose with spine burst and then following up the with single target attacks, she is at 30 now and I hope to be getting her to 50 before I leave at the end of the month.

And then there is little Sweet Pea ... also something I havent tried before, a dark scrapper sitting at 24.

I was worried about the endurance consumption, and knowing claws has a good attack rate, lowish endurance cost and a good fun play style I went for it. The first few levels before 20 was hell, but now, after stamina and having been able to slot SO's things are MUCH better, and I am having a ball of a time playing it with the slashing and dashing, the backflips and the knockdowns

I love me scrappers, and I'll much rather play any one of them then any of my other characters

    Fire/EM - Advice

This would be my 2nd blaster (the first one is over a year old now and still sitting at level 34) and this would the first time I've touched fire apart from my scrapper.

I would like it for both pve and pvp as I sometimes wonder into a zone and see if there is someone around for a quick laugh or two, but nothing serious

Here is my build, please have a squint at it and give some advice as to the powers etc.

  21. Hi people

I was hoping some of you might be interested in trying to attain the MoSTF badge, or just to do it for [censored] and giggles.

I know this is short notice but see what you can do.

We have tried 2 runs on this so far, but didn't make it and we sat down trying to figure out a team with the best chances of getting it.

I think we will need the following (your inputs would be appreciated on the team make up)

    1. Defender - FF
    2. Defender - FF
    3. Defender - Rad
    4. Defender - Dark
    5. Defender - Empathy (emergancy heals but mainly buffs)
    6. Controller - fire/kin
    7. Controller - grav/rad
    8. Tank - (not fussed about the sets, enough buffs and debuffs going around)

This is what we have so far:

    1. @Thabo - FF/Psy
    2. (empty) - FF
    3. (empty) - Rad
    4. (empty) - Dark
    5. (Cant remember name) - Empathy
    6. @iMike - fire/kin
    7. @Ullok - grav/rad
    8. (empty) - Tank

Hope to hear from you guys. Both Uli and myself would like to get it before we ditch the game at the end of September.
  22. What would be the possibility so that you can rig your account or the PvP settings so that you can test your build against one or more of your own toons which are being controlled by the AI?

For instance, I have a kin/rad defender, and I would like to tweak it's performance against defense based toons, like my ice/em tank, but now I have to wait around for one of my friends to come around so he can do the test with me.

I think it would be good fun too. Set up a map, add 4 or so of toons to the maps, 2 to a side and rumble.

Not sure how possible or viable this would be, but I hope that there is something like this in the pipeline
  23. Guys

I won't be able to make this run. I might be going down to my hometown to go visit the family. Scrap Osaka from the roster. He was an earth/kin troller

Good luck with the TF and may it be as successful as the defender run!
  24. Ta guys, awesome fun ... think we might have been the first
  25. Sign Osaka up ... he has been gathering dust for a while
