Stalkers - Shunned by the Masses?
I cant speak for anyone else. But I tend to either join the 1st team that asks, or invite whoever happens to be available. I don't think too hard about "we need a corruptor", "we have too many MM's" or anything like that.

If you look in the thread "stalkers being looked at" you will see some of the issues here.
Basically, whilst the perform fine solo, stalkers bring little to a large PvE team that can't be done better by another AT.
Of course, many teams won't care about what you bring to the table, but some do.
I really should do something about this signature.

Specially as most low lvl stalkers are played badlily from my teaming experineces
I find that I sometimes avoid teams with my stalker as I don't feel comfortable with not contributing enough.
Stalkers can still perform fairly well in groups tho. I remember one time when we did the Sharkhead SF in the VG and the team was 4 stalkers and a corruptor. We did just fine.
A well played stalker will certainly contibute more than a badly played anything else. And they certainly arn't useless, its just that they don't have anything unique that isn't done better by another AT (apart from stealth, which isn't needed in PvE missions).

well too be honest i rarely see or find any stalkers that actually want to join a team (i pick up mostly the first i find unless its a sf) but that is later in the game tho.
well ive teamed with many stalkers. the only time i wont like one in the team would be say MORSF otherwise i dont mind them at all
dam double post

but the greatest stalker will not outperform a mediocre player of anything else on a full team, they need a reverse cosmic balance type power IMO, like having a stalker on team raises the def/res/dam/acc of the team depending on AT or something like that, ie that brutes get a damage buff per stalker on team, corrs get a def buff, doms res etc etc

I have recently rolled a Nin/Nin Stalker and as my only Villain she is good fun to solo. I am however, more of a team player enjoying the general humour and conversation in teams - not to mention the good xp!
Sadly I have been struggling to find teams for my little stalker and so far she has had to do the past 3 levels all alone Team requests and tells are either ignored or flatly declined - are stalkers really thart hated by the teaming masses or does she just need a bath?
[/ QUOTE ]
Stalkers *do* underperform in biggish teams, unquestionably.
However, part of the problem is that most stalkers dont take "team" powers even if they are available.
As a nin/nin stalker you could offset some underperformance issues as you have AoE powers like flashing steel, caltrops, and Blinding Powder.
The problem is partly a viscous circle. Stalkers build to solo, Stalker underperforms in teams, Teams dont want stalkers, Stalkers build to solo.

Which simply makes your character an underperforming dominator instead of an underperforming scrapper.

Tbh although i love teaming on all my heroes I have found my stalker to be better as a solo'er. I usually get about 1 level an hour (mid teens) which will obviously get slower higher up - but also if I play for an hour before I go to bed (around midnight) I don't feel guilty for ditching my team after a couple of missions!
I think Harlequin will be my 'Antisocial Alt' for when I really can't be bothered talking to people or it is too dark to type with any degree of accuracy lol!
Golden-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Fire/Fire Tank
Oodja Nikabolokov - Lvl 50 SS/WP Brute
Baby-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Peacebringer
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could Chuck Norris?

Probably the best bet!

Officially as a Hero:
"Yes you are shunned!, you are dirty and smelly and nobody wants you! - you have no honour in battle and are parasitic little blighters! - Shoo! - SHOO !!!"

I had similar experiences when I played a stalker for a bit, it was not as much I felt people shunned me but rather that I felt like the teams were doing me a favour by letting me tag along. (or that I'm just filler to get bigger spawns)
And thats kinda what I felt like I was doing
tagging along.
AS is awesome and all, but even so I always just felt like a fragile, weak brute in bigger teams.
Which is too bad because I really like the concept of the stalker!
I personally think stalkers is a great asset to a team as they have the AS to take out annoying mobs, or at least bring them down a good bit to make them less of a bother to the rest of the team. I play stalker myself and I don't feel that I am underperforming compared to any of the others.
About the teams, I feel that it has been quite normal on villains that all your tells are usualy ignored, don't know why though
...Because a well buffed brute can deal with any annoying mob more effectively than a stalker, and when it comes to xp, aoe is king.
My corruptor gets many team invites.
I really should do something about this signature.

I think you have hit the nail on the head here! In a team I enjoy being able to pile in and make my fair share of kills - but with a stalker that seems so much harder. It may be because I have only so far been able to get small teams but this is a pretty accurate way that it feels to me

alot of the times stalkers do just that hang back... my stalker is up front one shotting left right and center... only seen that kinda damage on full fury brutes... and rage

A buffed brute is far superior to a buffed stalker. The much higher damage and resistance caps ensure that. Plus, the brute can support the team by holding aggro, and has more aoe attacks.

yea they can take more damage ..but i am not sure on this damage thing... according to mids no brute comes near (not even EM) to EM stalker for Dp/s (Edit infact elec melee comes close... but still only close)
i am not just saying it because i have a EM stalker.. i also have a SS brute and i know what foot stomp is capable of but were as my brute foot stomps and ppl are still alive my stalker will 1 shot alot more (infact really only KO blow 1 shots ... hurl does but thats really quiet slow)
yes a brute can take the damage for longer thus can kill for longer but were talking about stalkers on TEAMS placating and one shotting all over the place stalkers can kill more effectivly than brutes and thus need to servive less
tho i have been made very aware of the face my build EM/Nin is an exception to the rule i am currently in the process of making a new stalker to see what its like
