You don't mention whether you are downloading EU test client, so I can't comment on whether it's affected by something Avatea commented on yesterday in this section. If you are trying to download the US test client, be aware that the path to the updater goes through other people's servers and they put caps on the bandwidth so that it doesn't adversely affect their other clients when so many people are trying to download. |
i cant log in and im using the english version how am i supposed to fix it iv tried to use the game on two computers and it still says i got the wrong username/password
i have a problem too but when i log in i chose a city like (Freedom) then i create a character theni chose my power and bla bla then i chose my clothe but when im going to chose my clothe the body id in black i can see enything
What can i do?
Damn it, now after: Live Server Downtime - Tuesday, June 29th 2010, I am trying to get on and I can not even get past the updater. I double click and I get this: failed to rename C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe to C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.old and my version is: v1800.201002171501.1 (This has never happened to me before) TY
The game says i'm already logged in, i can get onto test server, but not the regular game! No one should have my password to get on besides my daughter which isn't home ! So what so i do, i have went to my account changed passwords and tried getting to anyone that can help. I was on last night , but haven't been able to get on this morning !
10 minutes ago, I was able to get past the login screen, but every server was grayed out and unselectable. Now when I try to log in, I either see that behavior or I get the generic "cannot connect to db server" error.
Over 8 years of playing with more than 130 characters across 14 servers. Nineteen 50s with plenty more working their way up!
Find me in-game as @Super MC
After a few tries I finally got past the login screen, but all the servers are grayed out.
that's happening to me too - who do you guys use for Internet? Cox here.
There is Really bad Glitch with Login Client from what i can tell and they have pulled all servers off line to hopefully fix the issue. usually when they do this its a bad glitch. That is why all Servers are Grayed out..... happens more frequently then I Like. I Have Had Nothing But Issues since thurs. 10-12 hour down time.
I have same problem. I was on a few min ago but logged to change to different toon. When I went to log in and got the can't log into DB error. After rebooting computer I now can get to the server select screen, BUT all is grayed out.

The servers weren't down. My wife was logged in and playing on Virtue. I figured half a dozen tries to log in was enough and went to play something else.
I tried logging in several times early yesterday evening, and just kept getting the "game client unable to connect to server" message. My husband's PC, on the other hand, could log in just fine. I see here that the problem's more widespread, not just my PC or account. Are the Dev's aware of this problem?
That was nasty, first it says problem with network connection, then when you finally manage to log in you see most of servers are grey, next second you get kicked out, log in again and see all servers fine. Repeat.
Freezing issues, then globals like BM, WW. AE etc. down, now log in server...what's going on? Is NCSOFt doing some stealthy updates or is game technically dying?

As a troubleshooting step, please try running the game in Safe Mode. You can set this mode for the game by doing the following: 1. Launch City of Heroes. 2. Proceed to the “User Agreement” section. 3. Before clicking the “I Agree” button (lower right corner), place a checkmark in the box labeled “Safe Mode.” 4. Click “I Agree.” This will force the game to run at the minimum graphics/video settings. This is not intended as a permanent solution , but this is being requested so that we can gauge whether these lowered settings will have any effect on the problem at hand. If this improved the issue, then, while in Safe Mode, set "Advanced Graphics Settings" to "Disabled" and move the "Graphics Quality" slider to a setting that provides good balance between performance and quality. If you'd like you can then enable the advanced graphics settings and continue to tweak the settings. |

More likely it's because you got someone that just skims the tickets looking for a few key words instead of actually reading the ticket to see what the actual problem is. They then look for copy/paste responses based on whatever key words they pick up as they skim the ticket, whether it's relevant to the actual problem or not.
Mind you, I'm just basing that on past experiences with support in this game and in other non-game related technical fields.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Every other time I attempt to log in I get the DB connection message. Then I manage to get into character selection, pick Aglow, and it doesn't load into the game.
Since then, I've tried logging in several times and my character Aglow is locked out by message of 'The character Aglow is still logging out'. This has been for about 10 minutes now and if I'm lucky enough to get past the DB Server message, I can select other characters but none will load.
at the moment i can login BUT some zones seem to have blackholed and I have a bunch of lost characters. one i was on a just about full team about to start a numina when Founders blackholed. when trying to switch to other characters i got alot of "cannot connect to Dbserver". eventually i hit a zone that let me in. (Virtue)
