What do people have against PVP?

[/ QUOTE ]Since when does anyone HAVE to enter PvP zones?
[/ QUOTE ]
Villains, to get the badges required for the Villain version of the Atlas Medallion. Badgehunters and people just looking for an extra boost alike.
[/ QUOTE ]None of them are forced to enter.
[/ QUOTE ]
None of the above are forced to enter? Ah... My bad. I thought villains still had to go into the PvP zones for Accolades. I didn't realise they had changed that.
Well done Devs

Far as i know they do, however its not like you need the accolades, you just want em
[/ QUOTE ]
But if you choose to get the accolades on the hero side, then you don't have to enter a PvP zone. However, if you choose to get them on the villains side, then you have no choice.

To be honest, although I agree PvP zones are for PvP, the instances where some posters have responded by insulting the PvEr's intelligence or have simply cried out 'It's a PvP zone, deal with it' are simply making the problem worse.
If people actually tried thinking about ways to solve the problem, on both sides of the fence, rather than going 'Get over it', there wouldn't be people complaining all the time. Both side's complainers need to stop acting like spoilt brats, and actually try working towards a solution, rather than the endless "My way's the way it should be" arguments.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think there is anything to sort out to be honest. Other than people's attiutudes towards PvP zones.
Oh, and the fact that any Accolades tie into PvP badges. That's pretty stupid. But I don't think that all badges should be removed. Accomplishments in a PvP zone are just as deserving of badges as ones in PvE. Badgehunters that want those badges don't deserve them unless they take the risk of being attacked by another player.
Other than that though, I don't think anything in a PvP zone should be changed to suit people who don't want to be involved in PvP.
[ QUOTE ]
The name calling and personal insults are unacceptable on either side though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Definately. People like that are what really ruin a PvP zone. And that's people on both sides.
People like that are in the minority though, it's just that those types of people are far more likely to be remembered.

Agreed.
Hi guys, fully agree with the above points, and I fully accept it's the nature of the beast. Yes it is a buzz to know you're in danger but....
The other day me and a few team mates went to bloody bay after the meteors there, fair enough we knew there was a risk of being attacked, fair play. I'm a lvl 17 brute, I got ganked by 4 or 5 lvl 25+....repeatedly. They just would not leave me and my team alone, they had their fun the 1st time round, surely they could leave us alone after that?
I ended up logging out in frustration, as I couldn't even try to leave the zone and do something else as I was dead inside 100y.
I logged back in yesterday and appeared where I fell the last time, and bingo, there they were again, I made off to leave and guess what? GANK! I couldn't even try to fight back, couldn't even run away, well at least it saved me the effort of swimming=)
If you want to splat a lowbie, ok, I'll even stand there and let you, but please leave me alone after?

LOL
Thats pretty bad luck. I wonder if they camped there the whole night
Its frustrating to have that happen but thats the game, on another day an opposing player might actually end up helping you with the shivans.

While the argument has some logic in it, I tried to verify what exactly is needed and apparently you need one exploration badge and one plaque in warburg? I can't believe this is any obstacle to anybody..
There are much more serious issues to solve like the basecamping in bloody bay..
I know one of the accolades needs the 'raider' badge - five hours in Sirens.

None at all. I was just stating that there are badges needed for an accolade that require more then a two minute trip into the zone! Also if any non-pvpers go afk in the base just to get the badge it kinda messes up the bounty system, but that's a different topic really.

Yeah I hate that badge. Didnt know it was part of an accolade, I can see why people idle in there base for ages now.

Actually, I'm not a PvP but was firmly in the "it is a PvP zone, they warn you of this on the way in, [censored] camp" but thinking about this from others' perspective (always difficult for someone as wonderfully self-centred as me) it makes a lot more sense. They basically throw all this [censored] in to the zone(s) for;
- Some semblance of story to PvP (or you'd just expand the arena)
- Give PvPer something to fight over, rather than just head to head all the time (you could put goals into arena type matches I suppose).
- Try to entice some non-dedicated PvP types, in the hope they'll stick around, or at least ensure a steady stream of visitors (I'm looking at you, mr. shivan shard)
So while the PvPer are absolutely right that it is a PvP zone and if you're in there you should damn well PvP, non PvPers who have been enticed in due to the non-PvP incentives (Shards, Nukes, massive xp/prestige, I'm not including Siren's SOs in this) can't really be blamed for coming in for what they want out of the zone, since the devs obviously intended to motivate people (specifically, non-PvPers) to come into the zone. I think the most I would hope for is some common courtesy, with the expectation that if a PvPer is going to demand PvP I either leave the zone or go for it (or go fetch my spines/regen scrapper or EM/DA brute if they have a tricked out hami-o stuffed 'uber' build)

Here's a list Blackdragon did on another thread of what PvP zone badges you require for the accolades
[ QUOTE ]
Quite. Here's a list of PvP badges required for Villain Accolades:
Weapon of Mass Destruction - Warburg Exploration badge - Marshal
Crooked Politician - Bloody Bay Exploration badge - Headline Stealer
Raider - Siren's Call 5-hour badge - Born In Battle
Triumphant - Warburg Exploration badge - Born In Battle AND Megalomaniac
Swashbuckler - History badge with plaques in both Siren's Call and Bloody Bay - Born In Battle
Last Stand - Recluse's Victory Exploration badge - Megalomaniac
Man/Woman In Black - Shivan-hunting Badge generally earned in Bloody Bay - Megalomaniac
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh and while it is possible to get the man in black badge - it requires a lot of farming in a very limited level range outside of the PvP areas.
[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
yeah, I've only softened my attitude from "shut the [censored] up" to "I understand that the Devs have provided a large motivation for non PvPer (such as myself) to enter the zone and that we are fair game for the PvP types as a result. If we aren't happy when the risk part of the risk/reward equation turns up, we should just leave the zone as we aren't upholding our part of the deal (big benefits, put up with PvP). In fact, they put the zone exit right next to the hospital to speed this process up"

There is a solution to that. I recommend those people to go stand outside the base. If some player kills them, then don't rez. I believe dead people can't be anyones bounty and they can chat or idle being dead too. There is no auto-rez iirc.
It all stems from the mere 'feeling' that being dead or getting defeated by a player in PvP is somehow 'bad'. There is no drawback to it, it is all just in the mind of the 'non-pvpers'. Who knows, those people might even utilize the opportunity and try out pvp while they are waiting for the time badge. That might be the reason it IS a requirement. If you don't want debt, just stick close to arachnos mobs.

Just checking... How can a villain complete all of the Villain Accolades, without being required to enter a PvP zone.
Do they have a choice to complete the Villain Accolades and still avoid setting foot in a PvP zone?
I dont go out of my way to do Accolades but I gather it's important to a lot of players, on both sides?
If there is some other way to get all of the Villain Accolades, without being required to enter a PvP zone, then lets hear it?

Got to love the balance issue 7 brought to CoH and CoV.
I think that a warning of attack might be a courtesy though. I don't like pvp and never have, but accept that I am in danger from other players if I go in. However, its really annoying to be flying along or running round to get sniped with no warning. If it is a character with few defences you can be dead before you even see where the attack is coming from. That is one reason why I don't like pvp, and the other is when it is a team going for lone players. I honestly don't see the fun in 8 people ganging up on a solitary person with no warning. A shout of "Hold villain, I shall smite thee in the name of the elder gods" would at least give fair warning. "I can see you, but you can't see me mwahahahaha" from a stalker is just as acceptable. At least I can be ready then. I have a sort of fair chance to stop what I'm doing and switch mental gears then.

So if a player considers the Accolades to be an important part in 'completing' their character, then they have no choice but are required to enter the PvP zones?
Last time I checked, I saw that Accolades had various effects on characters on the PvE side.
This could go round in circles forever but an undeniable fact is that PvE oriented villains, who only feel that their character is 'complete' when they have all the accolades available, must enter the PvP zones.
