more wanted??? i found a total of 2 teams wanting me when i was an empath (the first one was a friend making a new alt just to get me started) i spent hours and hours looking and found squat...

And yet, somehow, all the n00b teams keep saying "we need a healer", not "we need a defender" 
well i'll start yelling out all my powers next time i go for an empath. :P instead of saying healer or defender i''ll just say lvl# lft! i have healing aura,heal other, absorb pain, rez etc. etc. hehe maybe thatll make em want me.. lol

I rolled an empath as an alt, and set him up as a pure healer. I find it very easy to get into a team with him, although a good hint is to add some kind of medical term into your character name. My guy is Doctor Silas, so people looking for a healer will spot me right away.

Angry Healing Clown seems to get teams very easily, although he's built for that express purpose with equally ridulous teaming messages about how much of a healer he is.
My empath was pretty succesful. Often got team invites, sometimes when i was already in a team ( 'We Need you more' )

Lots of team out there do want healers, but equally there are a hell of a lot of healers out there... just sort the search window by defenders and play count-the-empaths. Empathy's funny like that - some days you're in demand all over the place, some days you can't find a team for buff nor money. It doesn't help, of course, that playing an empath solo is just painful so there's not a lot you can be doing while you wait.

Yea you should give an empath another go - generally you will get more teams in the 20+ area though, when your needed the most (and people start needing you in things like respec Tf's)

Try putting your powersets in your search string or whatever it is (eg. empath/elec). I do this anyway so people know what they are getting. Also set the search status thing to "looking for mission team" so you appear closer to the top of the list. Or you could build your own team 
Sounds like you just got unlucky, I've had teams about 10 levels higher than me ask my empath to come along.

I've been pure empath and ever have trouble getting a team, what so ever I do warn them first saying I there to save lifes not take them as a joke works well and people love it

empaths are overrestimated..if an empath is healing good they are almost demanding for compliments>.>..if a scrapper is scrapping good or a kin is buffing his [censored] of while sapping the enemies people won't say anything about it:P..
I think empaths are just like tanks..you don't REALLY need em but it can speed up things a lot..
but if I see that I need to give away a lot of xp cause i need a sk and the lower lvl empath doesn't it does my head in:P...they are just overrestimated/appreciated...

They are certainly no better than any other defender, just more visible, and better at patching up bad teams.
To be honest, I have more fun without empaths in teams - not necessarily better, just more fun. Probably because empaths are so common they bore the socks of me.

Taken down a +2 Battle Maiden (AV, before they spawned as EB's), just a /Inv Scrapper and my kinetics defender (Took ages, mind, but would've taken way longer if he was a tank or I was an empath).
Taken down +1 Dreck (AV) with four blasters and my Kinetic. (Blappers and Transfuusion spam is great).
And a halfway decent /Rad or a couple of controllers will make any AV wish he'd never been brainstormed by Cryptic.
I think you underestimate the power of the buff/debuff culture

giving optional situations isn't really a strong point imo :P..
later on you will fight a lot of AV"s indeed...but yes I fought ENOUGH AV"s with my kin troller and managed very fine without either of em:P...Its also very depending on team if you fight AV"s (a team filled with melee chars is better for a kin while a blaster heavy team wants an empath)..
its just like you don't always need scrapper or blasters but against an AV you might want em for the damage:P

No i dont underestimate it at all, have duo'd a couple of av's myself, me being a stone tank and a nice little kinetic. didnt even take very long.
and i'm talking on invinc so thats about +3.

on various accoasion i've tried making a pure-empath, the furthest i've gotten to is lvl 17.
I found it very very hard to find a team that actually wanted an empath to join, even at lvl 17.
having a pure-empath on the team is, imo, priceless.
Has Empath's become unappreciated?
if so, how can we get them back in action?
