I will settle for one good quality monkey. No taping cats together and pretending it's a monkey though.

    New MA/SR

Slot your toggles ahead of your passive defense powers and slot the attacks you use the most. Don't overslot the toggles though, more than four slots probably won't be necessary unless you're going for IO sets later.
  4. Essentially you can off all the minions and depending on the enemy group the lieutenants as well with a build up+flamethrower+full auto combo. It'll definitely get them all if you're buffed ina team and you can do this every mob not every so often like those other 'nova' blasters. The real skill is in positioning yourself and selecting the correct target so your cone covers the entire mob.

What AR/En does about bosses is something you have to learn and gets much easier once you can give up 'Stun' which has a painfully slow animation and just use Total Focus which is stun and massive damage. Any danger mobs you want to take out of the game like lethal resistant warwolves you hit with a beanbag and bosses are to be pummeled with /En punches to maintain a stun that lets you take them on with relative safety.

It also makes it possible to solo Elite Bosses quite comfortably with the right inspirations so I don't think that's so bad.
  5. While I may have considerable bias, the answer to your question is still yes. Especially on the SR side. I only found PvP the most fun when I had Elude at my disposal but having +perception and being very resistant to status effects, you're less likely to get hit with them as well as practiced brawler being very excellent, is all gravy.

As for martial arts it's pretty standard fare but I'd consider taking the stun to try and deal with those that just won't stay still like you want them to.
  6. Although somne people intentionally create the most ridiculously blatant copyright characters they can in competition and the last person to get petitioned loses.
  7. I think Ice has fast activation times on the attacks which would be good. And /elec or /energy are both good. /Elec is pretty cool.
  8. Beanbag, definitely beanbag. A ranged stun is far far better from my Ar/En experience.
  9. Quiet down, I'm trying to get free stuff. I knows I'm teh Uber!1!one!
  10. While I think some powers could use a little boost I'd say the short answer is that that the TA powers feel like watered down versions of more powerful debuffs from other sets because you have all of them in the one set at relatively low endurance cost and fast recharge rate.

I think the problem is that other sets can debuff very well with a few powers and do buffs and other cool stuff as well whereas TA only debuffs which while it may seemed balanced in terms of debuffing across the entire set it takes a lot more work to achieve the same debuff levels as the other sets you mentioned while not offering anything else. In my opinion, Trick Arrow should be boosted across the board so its ability to debuff is far beyond that of Dark and rad, sets which can achieve similar results in debuffing and still offer abundant buffs and heals.

That said though, Oil Slick arrow is a very special power that brings burning delight to your soul and combines excellently with your ability to keep enemies in place and increase the damage they take.

    AR/NRG Qusetions

    [ QUOTE ]
My intial thoughst is that ignite looks poor from AR and the rest looks ok.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Slug is good, burst is questionable if you like to blap. I took burst initally and got good use out of it but later respecced out since I teneded to do well enough with just my energy melee and slug+cones from AR.

M30 grenade would nomrally be described to you by just about anyone as 'pretty crappy' since it's damage is questionable and that big knockback is annoying and isn't something you'd consider using if you want to use flmaethrower or full auto on a group afterwards.

I don't rate buckshot, couldn't fit it into my build.

Ignite I like but agree it isn't very useful in a strict sense. It can be a lifesaver in rare situations like blocking sewer doors or doing massive damage vs. immobilised AVs but if there's a power you'd use very often then don't skip it for ignite.

    [ QUOTE ]
NRG Manipulation all again looks ok with the exception of boost range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd agree, I want total focus' babies. *love*

    [ QUOTE ]

I have a few genreal question as well if people in the know wouldnt mind giving there views on.

    1) I can get conserve power at lvl 16 will this be able to replace the need for stamina or would i still need it for the downtime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can operate fine with just conserve power, I did it for the first 30 levels but there is some downtime and you may want to slot a few endreds in the AR powers. However, I very much enjoy stamina since I specced into it which was for PvP at the time but now I can pretty much run continously without worry and slot attacks for extra recharges.

    [ QUOTE ]

2 How useful would power boost be as I dont seem to have that many secondary effect i can boost.

    Thanks in advance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've got 2 stuns in beanbag and stun which stack very quickly with power boost and is a good way to deal with bosses. If you add that to tatal focus which is a big mag stun and the chance to stun from the other energy melee powers you could probably stun an AV.

There's also your epic hold and interestingly the accuracy boost from build up is boosted if you use power boost first.

And flying, I have power boost on auto so I can fight using hover at a faster than runspeed pace when it's going plus before I slotted flightspeeds in fly it gave a noticeable boost to my travel speed.
  12. MArtial Arts, but makre to take cobra strike so you can stun masterminds/corrupters/dominators.
  13. Yeah, you can get metal ones and all sorts of guff. I like the original look though.
  14. I'll probably be able to make this, I'll hop on yon teamspeak server and go level my convenient spines/regen up a couple of fun and easy levels to reach 23.
  15. Yeah, post a picture, I'll draw him in compromising positions just because I can.
  16. The_Jersey

    MM flying

I liked group fly but respecced out of it with the plan to respec back in later because it's fun... but there were some more useful powers I wanted to get earlier.
  17. The_Jersey

    please help

I consider MA as the most balanced scrapper choice because it combines good damage with fast recharging attacks and an ability to control using stuns/knockdowns as well as relatively low endurance.

It will not however give you the highest damage (broadsword) a less resisted damage type (Dark Melee very awesome) or much AoE fun (Spines best, others have more cones and stuff as well).

I personally don't rate claws or katana as quite so good but it's not exactly a huge gap.
  18. Here's the build I use with Guise

It mostly works to set up a big build up -> flamethrower -> full auto on large groups and do massive single target damage by blapping.

I think quite a lot over the power choices at 35 and 49 switching between ignite, burst, boost range and stun in different builds but currently I've moved stun back to level 49.

For your build I would move a recharge out of Full Auto since you already have hasten and after initial blast full auto doesn't work well on the non-stationary group of enemies. It's also pretty good at getting you dead. I prefer to use two flamethrowers per group because too much full auto drains my endurance very quickly.

I'd also recommend bumping some attacks further forward, especially your snipe and move the fitness pool back a little further since you already have conserve power and don't need to be as endurance conscious at that stage.

One of buckshot or M30 is alright, I liked the knockback on M30 before I went all blapperish, but I'd say replace on of the two with something else, maybe energy punch, stun or ignite. Ignite isn't the most useful choice but it probably is the most awesome and funriffic.

Also are stealth and invisibility PvP choices? If they're not for PvP or concept purposes then you can get much cooler stuff.
  19. I'd suggest that the reason there are so few Ta/Psi defenders is that there aren't any energy or fire attacks in /Psi to light the oil slick which is the most awesome part of being a trick arrow defender.

I honestly doubt the ability of any person to wait until epics to be able to light their own slick. It really is just that great.

It's not strictly a PvP build since you could switch out an attack and put focused accuracy in. I'm just not a fan of FA personally so didn't really want it in since not having it it doesn't hamper MA/SR which already has high perception/accuracy.

I don't think it'd work too bad at level 30 but watch what order you put the slots in because I never pay attention to that in my builds.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Has anyone tried using Coolant Belt temp power from respec trial on Hami? Or the 2 temp powers from Hydra trial also could work on him as they do on Hydra head.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's unlikely that thermite plasma is dangerous to Hamidon and he'd have to be from another dimension for the particle cannon to be effective. Hamidon doesn't display enough connections to the Rikti to suggest their heavy weapons would be effective against him.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Is the answer simply to get non-stop vengeance running?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This I think would be pretty hilarious but I think youse guys are giving the devs too much credit on the magic bullet front. I don't imagine they've thought through how a real cell would work half as well as you guys have. And confusing the Mitos has been tried lots of times and has yet to yield results.
  23. Sorry I didn't make the raid, I usually love ot go to the big gatherings but was already commited to a barbecue.

I did a lot of research on Hamidon way back when so here's my tuppence on the issue if you'd like to hear it

    [ QUOTE ]
I think when the healing blanket was in place the PA weren't necessary. It just added to the lag, which stopped the controllers ability to hold. Spamming heals also added to the lag, but its necessary when you don't clear the Mitos.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never considered the PA drop strictly necessary but they were very important to the smooth running of the way. When you had someone doing it properly it was pretty hard to get killed by the mitos. If you're going to clear the mitos I'd always favoured the idea of the turtle as it were dubbed with the healing blanket which was blanketing enough to keep everyone alive regardless or revive those that fell. I prefer clearing the mitos to ignoring them as when you fight Hamidon you have two enemies in my mind, the first is lag and the second is the number of controllers, if you can minimise lag and maximise controller attendance you're already most of the way there in my opinion.

    [ QUOTE ]
Would this not be a good time and opportunity to take Hamidon back to the drawing board both artistic/concept-wise and how the servers can manage it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course it would, the Recluse Strike Force is a much cooler way to get Hami-O's and challenge yourself so mabe heroes should have equivalent. The Hydra Head in the sewer trial has always been much like a mini version of Hamidon that spawns minions to fight you at set health levels. The difference however is that the Hydra head has a defeat mechanism with the shield generators; that's what makes that trial fun wheras Hamidons holding defeat feels like you're exploiting a game mechanic. I say this because you also used to be able to hold the hydra head and just beat it down but the devs put a stop to it because it was stupid.

    [ QUOTE ]
Hami isnt a problem, he isnt hard to kill just annoying and can be tedious if things dont go right. Hes killed nightly on most US servers using the old kill all mitos, everyone hit him once then hold him to death.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, still works and is still tedious as hell. Raids are fun because it's a huge community event, the raiding itself kinda sucks.

    [ QUOTE ]
There are some US sgs who farmed Hami to death using end drain and this was before the advantage we now have of end drain being a % as opposed to a set number.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This I would like to hear more about because I've heard people talk about it but can't find any evidence or enough people willing to test it. Having Hamidon spawn mitos anyway would really suck after you drained his endurance and beat him down but if it works I tihnk there's certainly enough kineticists out there to give it a go.

    [ QUOTE ]
The problem is, while it sounds like an awesome idea, it requires too much co-ordination. The IQ of a mob is the average IQ of all the members of the mob divided by the number of people, and this rings truer for Hamidon over anything else in CoH. A raid guide for a public raid has to be insanely simple. The reason we don't have an attack phase on Defiant (and, imo, the reason why we're so successful) is because it requires no extra co-ordination beyond "Stand here and click this and DON'T do anything else". We don't have the server population to start doing private raids with more complicated guides, unfortunately.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My first thought here is what are the numbers required to 1. Floor Hami's regen and 2. Floor Hami's endurance. On principle, if you were to get enough trusted defender types to do those two things you could in principle take down Hamidon with one scrapper, from there onward the time required to defeat hamidon would simply be proportional to the number of people you have damaging him.

    [ QUOTE ]
or he got immobolized half way through (which did happen, I saw some tenacles, ice, earth immobilize animations under hamidon)

    [/ QUOTE ]

As far as I'm aware, Hamidon is always immobilised, also, people can't resist using their crey pistols on him.

    [ QUOTE ]
We make sure we have one global channel per group

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, I don't like global chat. Too fiddly for my tastes. For me, raid organisation should have teamspeak running for the fastest relay of information. Specialised teams can have their information passed to them on the team channel and any information to the general raid should go over request. Really, only the raid leader and maybe the hold team leader need to be on request since too many people being 'leaders' can be confusing.

    [ QUOTE ]
The best indicator is whether or not you can A) See Tesla Cage

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, if Lag isn't deathly you can sometimes see a whole mess of different [censored] pop up on Hamidon to indicate a hold, it's nothing concrete because you all know things appear and dissappear for fun during Hami raids but you should be able to tell the difference between held and not held if you look carefully enough.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think the next raid should have a designated PR man.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tihnk it helps to have the raid leader say everything is going awesomely every few minutes. Of course, we could try to reach out far into the ether and bring back Midnight Agent to manage the staging area. That was fun.

    [ QUOTE ]
Fact is, we were short on experienced players and raiders. Neither Jersey,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Woo! That's me. I like the idea that some people might hold me in any kind of esteem.

    [ QUOTE ]
From the Eden Trial - resist inspirations dropped from opponents en-route

From the Hydra Trial - temp powers allowing much higher damage than normal powers allow

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is why I have a problem with Hamidon. These two trials have big baddies with a cool defeat mechanisms. Hamidon plays like a half finished version of a trial.

    [ QUOTE ]
But has anyone TRIED the ideas suggested?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many a man has searched for the fabled 'press here to defeat Hamidon button' and many have failed lost to a madness of romantic visions. I like to imagine you can use the time travelling devices at the abandoned portal corp site to affect Hamidons devolution into a giant cell and return him to something more defeatable but it is a mere dream.

    [ QUOTE ]
Does anyone know if it's been investigated if something can be done about the Mito spawn, or is it definitely to do with people in aggro range?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Legend has it that if you hide everyone behind rocks to the east of hami and take him below mito spawning point with a minimum number of heroes he only spawns mitos for those heroes in Line of sight. Frankly, however, the concept is far too complicated to be practical.

    [ QUOTE ]
The point is, a womble spoon isnt required. Just get 3 x 8 man teams of trollers, with a decent mix of secondaries, tending towards rad and kin, 2 stone tanks, 5 empaths and 1 full team of damagers and you are laughing every time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Controllers beat Hami, exactly. We could very well start a Hamidon fighting SG with maybhe 35 or so forumites to play it safe. That'd be what? 32 controllers a tank an empathy defender and a rad?

    [ QUOTE ]
I've read references to this legendary event frequently - when did the devs do this? Would it make any difference whether it was pre- or post-enhancement diversification?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was pre a lot of things, I wouldn't think it would be quite so easy now.

    [ QUOTE ]
If there is a "womble spoon", it sure as hell isn't in the Hive.

I know the thing, i bet you need those insperations from the Eden Tf, IF YOU USE THEM YOU BECOME IMUNE TO HAMMI'S DAMAGE, well that's my theory.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't work, something to do with the mechanics of special/untyped damage that is less than obvious to me.

I'd hold a raid every week if we could guarantee a good turnout of controllers (or a good turnout of end/regen floorers if that works) but I don't think we're that dedicated, which is still cool.

Of course we could prove that wrong by rounding up Forumites in such a way to create the Hamidon death squad that rules over pitiful villains in PvP thanks to our ridiculous Hami-O fueled builds. Line up your controllers to my left to be powerlevlled please.
