Mastermind love in I7
Option 3 seems most likely, however some form of streamlining pet summoning is also possible (I agree it would be difficult not to make it overpowered).
However if pets get a taunt in PvP Tankers are going to be very very miffed.
I really should do something about this signature.

as the "buff" in I7 is supposed to help MMs in pvp i would like to see the ability to upgrade all pets instantly instead of going through each one individually, in a pentad arena match it wud be near impossible to get all pets upgraded and ready for fighting
[/ QUOTE ] Id think it might be "Pets Start Fully Upgraded" would make more sense in that way, wouldn't it?
[/ QUOTE ]Too overpowered, WAY too overpowered.

No...as in the FIRST upgrade. The second one would be too strong.
And shared travel powers would be funny. Hyper Fast Robo Go!

Easy targets? Tell that to the blaster and troller that tried to take me down last night in Warburg
Not a scratch, to either me or my bots

I remember playing tag with an /FF MM with my Claws/SR Scrapper for about 20 minutes in Sirens, which was pretty amusing. By the end of it I got bored and dismantled his bots, but he was fairly good-natured about it.
I'm also looking forward with expectation to I7 - I'd take my MM out more, as he can cause serious disruptions to hero teams... just as soon as he starts being too obvious about it, he gets two-shotted by the Scrapper without DN on him. Here's hoping to taunts on minion attacks.

I had another couple of thoughts about what this buff could be. They are based on the asumption that the percieved PvP weakness the devs are trying to address is the ability of heroes to ignore the pets and just kill the MM.
A) Base hp increase for the MM
or
B) A change to the MM inate (I forget the name) so that the buff it gives to the pets increases as the MM takes damage.

I don't think this would help us that much.
1. More health won't keep us alive when we are being hunted. Instead of 2 shots it'll take 3
2. Once we start taking damage, there's very little chance to escape - so even if our pets would start doing a lot more damage, the chance of this saving us is very slim.
I wasn't basing my guess on what would help, only what the devs might think would help.

1-MMs are very fragile even with their pets, so nerfing them would make them practically unplayable.
2-despite the fact that granite armor gives great defense and resistance, it also has bad side, you are very slowed and your recharge dies.
3-/regeneration scrappers were being nerfed many times so far, if their regeneration powers will become even more useless, the set will stop be regeneration, and will become only something that slightly boosts your healing rate.
Just an idea.
What about if your pets didn't die when the MM dies.
It might not save you, but it does increase your chances of getting a kill.

Could work in pvp given the speed others can be back in action after a res /awaken breakfree. Would have to have a pretty short lifespan after you died though else would be too powerful if your dead and your pets keep doggedly hunting your target.
tbh no matter how anyone puts it, when it comes to PvP MMs are kinda near the bottom of the food chain.
Sure, we can kill stuff quick if were in the right situation but soon as a tank comes along and wacks you with knockout blow or something ur halfdead and if by some miracle you manage to escape u get some blaster who snipes you from like 3 miles away.
Personally i never do PvP often as my MM i know as soon as someone see me flash from tp they think "oh look a mastermind we can get an easy kill here". Some times i get lucky and manage to drop caltrops and vanish with teleport whilst my robots annoy the guy who just attacked but thats 1 out of 10 times.
MMs just arnt good at PvP we get wacked by blasters shooting us from miles off and tankers who just storm past our pets, if anything the idea about defence buff for number of henchies around us would be a godsend.

I second that, Granites are together with MM's kinda at the bottom of the PvP foodchain. Get any storm/ice/rad debuff on your butty and you will never see your powerbuttons grow bigger anymore.
Though i havent pvp'ed yet with my bots, seeing my squishiness (come one, they skip your pets and straight go for u) i dont even want. Though a nerf on the forcefield side wouldnt be that bad, specialy with the upcomming new def-system. (robots on buff 10% def with double bubble / 3SO slotted afaik)

MM's are awesome in pvp, but you sometimes need a team - like a lot of other AT's. A MM in duels shouldn't lose ( of course it all depends on players ), and in a fight with multiple foes you have to manage your pets to scare away or buy time for you to get out of there. Blaster will always run if your pets start attacking them, and besides them...i don't think any AT was ever meant to take a beating from 5 scrappers and survive.
In pvp *most of the time* first people that get attacked are the high priority targets, not the useless ones ( as you suggest MMs ), so then i wonder why does every MM get ganked on sight ?
Also MM's aren't really supposed to go to battle face to face, we're supposed to be sneaky and plan ahead - how's planning ahead if you go out there in the open if you have no defense ? Use the terrain, hide your pets, stay invis where you can have a good view of the battle ground, pick strategic targets and eliminate them - that's how MM's are supposed to be played IMO.
Of course i could be wrong, and we MM's should just 1-2 shot anything, and we should have more health and dmg res than a tank, and 20 pets( 10 of them spamming holds of course, and the other 10 preparing their AS ) - Bah i like this ideea
Afulia's right, MMs are good in PvP if you can manage to look after yourself. Also, I've noticed that MMs tend to be much better in the higher level PvP zones, With my robo/FF, fighting in the confined spaces of the underground tunnels in warburg, I do really well Force Bubble and PFF FTW!

On a sidenote, a lot of MM's complain about not being good in pvp, but they're only experience with pvp was something like : okay, i'm going to warburg....after spending 5 min to get pets up : i'm gonna go own everyone, next few minutes he wonders around the map with the pets lagging hundred of yards behind him and he meets a blaster....after click spamming the pets attack button with no use ( pets are way behing ), he get killed....after they go out the hospital : Bah, i'm awesome at PVP, it's just this AT that sucks.
Either that or some normal players might be : wait 4 minutes to spawn and buff pets, you go out trying to hunt something, but a clever enemy spotted you before you did him, and takes you out quick before you can fully deploy your pets on him, after that back to hosp summoning pets again and buffing them, you go out trying to pay attention to everything around you - you aren't gonna let yourself die easy again, but this time the blaster has a friend with him and they manage to kill you, back to hospital - bah i'm not gonna bother with pets..it's too boring to have to wait longer to buff pets than i actuall stay alive.
This is something i share with all MM's, i dred getting killed, because i know i then have 4 or 5 minutes of waiting and buffing pets before i can go get revenge.
Something worth noting though : a lot of MMs say : ahh force fields are the best for pvp, but i saw a ninja/trick arrow MM doing just find in pvp and being quite a threat. Depending on your playstyle, all powersets are quite effective ( except bots, mercs and zombies ).
Yeah, FF isn't the be all and end all of PvP secondaries. I've seen a trio of /dark MMs owning in sirens. Nothing could touch them.
Having said that, if you're going out on your own, FF is probarbly the best

To be honest i don't think any sets are going to be nerfed for MMs.
Each secondary set requires different tactics : with pff you'll just go head on and hope a blapper doesn't come along, with dark you can go head on as well, but with poison and trick arrow you need to stay a bit out of sight, be a bit more covert in your actions ( this is just my view on things ). Going head on doesn't mean you are better, it just means you plan ahead less.

its mainly an issue of how a MM can use his secondaries to determine if he'll ever be any good in PvP. Sure, some builds are better than others and sure, some ppl are better in pvp than others. However, if a MM knows how to use his secondaries, he can be a deadly opponent.
I sometimes go to sirens with my robo/poi MM. Sure, I die a fair few times, and I dont claim to be one of the best pvpers out there. However I often manage to nail my fair share of heroes while im there. Make good use of your secondary power's buffs and debuffs, and you can keep yourself a bit safe from danger while your pets start to pummel your foe.
As said before, the reason why MMs get pummeled on sight are not cause they are the most worthless. It's because people know if you ignore the MM, his pets can give you a "go-to-hospital-free-card". The MM itself is the weakest link in his whole pet army, if the MM falls, the pets fall, thats why they are aimed for first.

[/ QUOTE ]Which is why I'm betting on some ind of taunt/divert attention from the MM buff.
Well although i do get owned frequently in PvP MMs can trump the enemy sometimes.
The traps powerset is the set i hear about the least even though i find it quite effective in PvE and sometimes in PvP when i'm not getting a tank chasing me, poison trap on the ground followed by a quick sheild gen provides sufficent protection for about 5 mins. Then you get some cocky scrapper who trys to nail you and he gets battered by your poison trap and burning robot plasma.
So why do i hear so little about the trap powerset, does no one like it or something?
