It's COLOR and ARMOR!
Yet everyone does it. Language is all about communicating your point. So as long as everyone knows what you're talking about, it shouldn't matter if it's "redundant" or not.

And if people would start using the language right, people wouldn't have an excuse to abuse it "because everyone else does".

But "what everyone else does" IS right. Language changes and morphs along with those speaking it. If it didn't....
Well, let's put it this way, would YOU like to be speaking Old or Middle English right now?
Wait, don't answer that, you're just nutty enough to say "yes".

Also, my theory on some of the off the wall pronunciations of British place names probably comes from the name being around for so long, but the way the locals pronounce it slightly changes over the year.
Oh crap, that's too serious. Pretend I said something culturally insensitive instead.

As it should be!
It obviously is colour and armour. As Dr. Mechano said; you butchered the language! (No offense, I have loads of American friends/relatives). If the English originated from England then wouldn't that logically mean that the English spelling of the word is correct?
This is a nationalistic debate, stop bringing LOGIC into it!
