Things to do During Forumpocalypse

I know for sure I'll spend more time actually in game. Maybe I'll even finally publish one of my story arcs, instead of just poking at them for a bit and then tabbing out to see if anyone's talking about anything interesting.

When the actual game's not available, I'll likely occupy my usual hour or two of killing-time-when-work's-not-busy at my favorite old stomping ground, the White-Wolf.com forums (mostly Exalted, since the Mage Community in the OWoD section is pretty much a ghost town these days). This is provided that White Wolf's main web guy doesn't remember me, and the account bans on my dozens of sock puppet accounts have expired... sadly, since our fued ran off and on for nearly a decade before he finally snapped, I don't imagine that's likely. But I'd be sniffing back around there soon anyway, since the 2nd Edition Alchemicals book is coming soon.

I have a book I have to read so I guess this will be the best time to get it read.
The books called "How to Read Literature Like a Professor".
Sounds like a great read doesn't it?!?!!

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Why stop there? Take three sick days so you can truly come to terms with how very bored you are without the forums. Heck, I'm bored right now and I'm on the forums. I don't know how I'll get through these 72 hours.

I've got a number of projects to work on, although this might be a good time to see if I can finagle a half day off or so. Plus we actually have work to do regarding the migration, it's not a hands off process.

I still might get a chuckle, and post something objectionable on my personal forum so I can keep in moderation practice.

Hey Mod8, could I get a bit of clarification on the "Forumpocalypse"?

There has been some speculation on Victory that it was a 2hr downtime instead of 3 days worth of downtime (how I initially read it).

So is the downtime 2hrs or a couple days?

Mod 8's post all but confirms it will be a three day downtime. They'll need it to convert the posts over to the new forums.

IMPEX can run a lot faster than that, even on a board of this size.

I am guessing it may be more of a Server and DNS change...or just playing it safe.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Maybe I'll spend the time playing City of Heroes. At least for a few minutes before I remember that I'm too excited about I-16 to play during I-15.

That reminds me of this incredibly obscure comic I read once.

While I'm in the idea of comics... I'm going to link you wonderful forumites to a few of the comics I follow. Don't worry, I'm only linking a few of the best favoritest ones.

Nobody Scores! - The only webcomic in its whole genre that I actually like, though I can't remember what its specific genre is called. Purely episodic and yet.. the characters are not exactly static, either. Happy, easy-to-look-at art (I.E. you can tell what's going on in any panel. Quite a feat for all the what the [censored] [censored] there is!), and a warning that there be swear words, oh nooooo! Don't read at work, cause it's a freaking comic. It's kind of obvious that you're not doing any work.

The Adventures of Dr. McNinja - Absurd. Oh so very very absurd. And the best thing about the absurdity is how.. taken for granted it is, really.
"What? Ninjas don't have super strength!" You're nodding- yes, yes, that's true.
"He's a doctor too!" yes, yes, tha-WAIT WHAT.
Top-quality brilliant humor. Also, this comic is popular enough that you've probably actually read it. Don't read at work, cause seriously there's no way you can convince your boss this is work.

Gunnerkrigg Court - One of my few SRS comics. Well, it's actually quite funny, but overall I'd rate it as a serious story comic written by someone that knows occasional quips of hilarious humor are really a requirement for an audience to properly experience the SRS parts. Shakespeare knew that, you know.
Anyway, it's a modernesque setting that is very very deep and intriguing and wonderful, and the story is in proper well-fitted chunks rather than rambling on the same plotline for thousands of pages, which if you've ever seen, is just kinda meh, you know? I felt the art at the beginning was meh, but the current art is quite well done.

Scary Go Round - Charming, funny, british, ka-raaazy... all-around great! I'm starting to run low words now, so I don't have much else to say. Give it a go! Lots of different storylines throughout it, so if you don't like one character, you won't have to deal with them throughout the whole comic! *mumblegrumblestupidfishman*

I'd end this SHORT sampling of my list of followed comics with a mention of my own creation... but it's not finished or hosted yet, and nobody is even supposed to know it exists right now.

Anyway, look these up! Reading every page of all four of them might even take you 72 hours!
