We agree that lack of supply is the main culprit, but even when supply of purples goes back up, the supply will remain low enough that it is easy to completely control the price by buying everyone that hits the market IF you are an evil marketeer with billions saved up. When there is only one or two of something listed per month, there is always going to be someone out of the thousands that play this game that is willing to pay it...even if it means buying inf from a .com, which is even worse for the game.

CoX is way more predictable.

Bid early in the week, be willing to wait, price slightly above any observed flipping activity, bid on 2 (1 to use, 1 to sell), and then go out and do things that might net you the desired item while you wait.

Easy. I do it across over 80 characters. No price hats necessary.

I'm talking about purple recipes that are so rare you only have to buy 5 or 6 a month to control them. If you have the Inf, anyone can do it.

no it isn't.
there are any number of "rare" recipes in the game that aren't worth squat because nobody wants them.
Supply is only half the equation.

Many of the most worthless recipes in the Merit Roll/Gold Roll pool have significantly less supply due to the weighted drops. And yet they're still completely worthless.

But clearly supply is the only factor......

do I WANT to drop 500mil on a single recipe?

[/ QUOTE ]

get out of the IWANTITNAO mind set and place a bid that is just enough to get what you want and wait. that is how i do it. might take a day or a week. but you will get it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I currently have 3 bids outstanding for an Armageddon triple and 2 Apocalypse triples. Each bid is for slightly over 100mil, and have been sitting for a month. I WANT those recipes, but considering the amount of work it takes me to make 100mil, I believe they are not worth more than that. Yet people are paying 200-500mil redside for these. I guess they want it more NAO than I do, and have more spare time to make that inf. Mr. Quint, stop acting like everyone around you is a noob and get over yourself. Not everyone thinks 10-25% of the inf cap for a single recipe is a worthwhile investment.

[/ QUOTE ]

so what are you doing with the drops that you get that you don't need? selling them to a vendor? why not spend some time at the market doing some research bout the recipe and made enhancement and see which is going for more then sell it in the way that will get you the highest amount. doesn't take a genius to figure that out. then you won't just be earning inf from doing the run but also from marketing your stuff you don't want/need at this time.

oh and just because most people stil don't seem to understand: PURPLES ARE SUPPOSSED TO BE ULTRA RARE. get over it.

i have plenty of toons that i would like to have purples in but i don't. big freakin deal. i wait for them to drop or wait for a bid to fill.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow! I've learned so much from you in the last 30min than I have from reading this forum since i9 went live! /sarcasm off

Get over yourself dude, I've learned these lessons already. I know how to make inf in game. MY OPINION IS THAT AT CURRENT MARKET PRICES PURPLE RECIPES ARE NOT WORTH THE INVESTMENT. And that the people willing to drop 25% of the inf cap on a single recipe should be investigated.

Personally all I'd like the devs to do is simply increase drop rates and reduce merit/ticket values across the board. Simply increase the supply and don't make us work so hard for the shinies we want.

And also, I'd like to see any purchase of 500mil or more flag that account for investigation of RMT. Before you jump into an uproar, if you earned that Inf the honest way, then you have nothing to worry about.

Is this your way of ducking my questions?

Here, I'll ask them again super nicely so your tender emotions don't get all battered and bruised:

Pray tell kind sir why do you insist on an elaborate conspiracy of marketeers to explain the simple actions of supply and demand?

How would you personally go about "controlling" purple recipes, assuming you have a bank full of inf to use?

Are you able to provide a logical structure to support your suggestion that "the Devs might wanna think about creating some boundries that stop a minority from greatly affecting the majority in a negative way."? What exactly is it this minority doing to so dreadfully impact the gamplay of the majority?

TIA for your considered responses!

Racism as a belief system is scientifically proven to be incorrect, whether you're "an over sensitized politicly correct nub" or not.

Here's an easier to understand analogy. You can not spell correctly and have poor grammar. There's no opinion involved. You used "your" instead of "you're". You used the word "acutely" in the wrong context. Your entire first paragraph was one run-on sentence. I could go on. These are all facts. You can't say that it's my opinion...well you can, but it just makes you look like an idiot. Was that simple enough for you?

EDIT - Oh and since the entirety of your post was a personal attack, that's called trolling, which is against the forum rules. Another couple "opinions" I'm sure you'll disagree with.

why should people be investigated? because they have an easier time making money playing the markets then you do? if you haven't noticed the prices at the RMT sites has been going down drastically because, imo, no one is using them and they are trying to get people to use them. they are a dying thing in this game and soon enough won't be around. they had nothing to do with the skyrocketing prices, the AE did.

when people stopped doing regular farms and the supply decreased of purples, i watched them go from 50-60 mil a pop to 100 mil a pop. then as time went by and supply became nil i watched them go from 100 mil or so a pop to 200 mil a pop. why? because people had made enough money from the AE to afford it. obviously you haven't been apying attention to this or you would never have suggested people being investigated.

Nowhere is the general ignorance of the playerbase as evident as when someone wanders into the market forum by mistake. Drop rate increases? Price caps? Marking people for RMT because they have more money than you do? Makes for some entertaining threads, though.

I'd love to know where people get these ideas. How is it a problem with the game that you don't have what you want when you want it for the price you want to pay? Why should the devs step in? Why is it the fault of market players?

This is why I've shelved my quest to purple out the Goat until after I16.

Between the inevitable nerfs to MA rewards and the ability to set the team size for your missions purple prices will drop fast.

I can barely wait to see JDouble's explanation for this inexplicable phenomenon!

Maybe in short bursts, but over the long haul they won't be able to maintain a price point that much higher than what supply/demand sets.

And here's an ironic point (at least to some, so others it's plain common sense): You know what is a driving force in keeping the prices from skyrocketing? The ebil marketeers fighting against each other to make a profit. If one marketeer could create an entire long term monopoly on a recipe then your theory would have at least some legs. But multiple marketeers means they have to undercut each other in order for THEIR product to move. Which brings the price down for the consumer (at least those smart enough to not buy it nao).

I realize this is going way off topic, but I just wanted to point out what part of her statement was racist.

Saying, "I'm glad I'm not a gardener," is not racist. Saying, "99% of gardeners around here are Mexican," is not necessarily racist.

Saying, "I'm glad I'm not a Mexican because all Mexicans have to work outside in the hot sun!" is racist. The last part of that statement was implied rather than stated, but it was there nonetheless.
