A few new I16 screenshots

I was doing a quick twitter search for news on CoH from Comic-con and I found a link to GamersHell where they have a few new screenies showing off the Power customization in action and, more importantly, an indication of the new character creation and power tinting interface!

Looks like they're maintaining the same simplicity in the powers interface. I especially like the easy-to-spot preview of each power's colours right next to the name of each.

Very cool.

Suprised there's no beige or brown colors included in the color palette. Is there a reason why these colors are solely restricted to skin textures?

According to the eye witness thread, there is black, just not in the bright color grid.

See the other thread about color customization. Apparently there are "bright" options and "dark" options. Both the CC images pictured here are using the "bright" color options.

You should check out srmalloy's neighboring thread--both of those pictures would appear to be of "bright tints." Notice how the scale goes completely to white at the right? There would, theoretically, be a corresponding list of colors for "dark tints" with blacks and near-blacks at the left.

According to the OP in this thread, black and super-dark shades of the rest of the colours are available if you can select a "Dark" effect option for the power. According to his reports, certain powers have both a Light and Dark option in the drop-down, allowing for brighter shades and white in additive mode (a la Hero Invulnerability), while allowing dull shades and black in subtractive mode (think Pain Domination).

So yes, you do have option for black for your powers; although the possibility of mixing black and white in the same power seems to be unlikely.

Looks pretty sweet to me- especially since it appears to be controllable power-by-power. Rainbow Brite clones will abound! j/k

I can't wait to see the alternate versions of spines and granite, myself. For the first time, I am interested in playing a spines scrapper since I won't be confined to banana dorks of doom sprouting everywhere. Now, if granite gets a cool enough make-over, I just might play that too.
