Game Masters and Game Sages.
Empowering ANY player not under the employ of PlayNC with Game Master privileges is pretty much the equivalent of Pandora's Box. No chance in hell.

If I could /jranger this any harder, I would.
Man, if you thought the devs awarding Dev's Choice to MA arcs caused an uproar...
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

I think an in game channel where players can answer player questions is sufficient. /hc for Help Channel already exists for this purpose.

As well as some of the specialized Globals like TheMarket & BaseBuildersInc.
OP, can you tell us a good reason "Why?" I haven't seen any need for people in addition to the current GM/CS staff to handle issues for the game.
Oh, and the GMs & Devs don't really come here and they typically do not respond directly to Suggestions from this thread.

Heh.
Let's see.
They could put either Alt_O_Holic or Perfect_Pain in charge of tickets about farming. Part_Troll could be in charge of petitions regarding teammate's bad behavior. There's a few people in the PWNZ forum who could be in charge of PVP complaints.
What would we put Power in charge of...?
Good thought, just impossible to safety implement.
If you think a rogue SG leader can cause havok, imagine a rogue GM.

Some MMOs have volunteer GM staff. This is not one of those MMOs.

What are "Game Sages", and what game has them? How well has that worked for them?

[/ QUOTE ]I know Shaiya has an volunteer position called Game Sage. The GSes in Shaiya don't actually have GM powers, but they're expected to mediate disputes, have what amounts to a red phone to the GMs, and are able to send server-wide chat messages. The Shaiya GSes are also supposed to organize in-game events and provide forum support.

Everquest had a Guide system as well, that they wound up disbanding due to liability concerns, I think it was.

That's not exactly true. I don't remember who it was, but at least a couple of developers have said, at one point or another, that they read, but rarely respond to suggestions as most of what we suggest is either flatout impossible or things they already thought of.
And, yes, Power for tech support, please!

I certainly hope this never happens.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.

This I can agree with.
I think the nearest thing we come to this are certain forum folks, who do an excellent unpaid job at collecting and listing concerns. Such as the scrapper concerns thread. or Zombie Mans guide to guides.
Thats basically as far down this path that we should ever consider venturing.

A while back, I was asking Ex about volunteer forum moderators. Because of problems NCSoft has had in the past in different titles, the practice is strictly verboten.
Now, if player volunteers forum moderators aren't even allowed, then I really doubt that we'll see any player volunteer GMs in the near future.

I Have the most awsome travel powers in the game, and it's all thanks to lag! They are :
- (SSS) Super Slow Speed
- (RBTP) Rubberbanding TP
- Instant Death while Server D/C's
Don't you wish you were me? Well now you can with LAG POWER! -Phoenix
The Other part you guys seem to be missing is I said that the GMs would have to support them and choose them.. and I'm not saying give them GM powers that would be completly insane yes..I just mean like helping them out.. err kind of like uhhh a step up day in high school where you stay withsomeone for a day to see how they do there job and you get some experiance or something..

But I still don't see a need for them. What additional value would they bring?

Less work For the GMs so they can help the devs with more important thigns like fixing the broken game.

You proceed from a false assumption. GMs aren't programmers. They're more customer service than anything else.

Ok so I was just wondering. Can we have something like Game Sages in this game too? Where players get some of the stuff Game masters get to do? Let me explain more. A Game Master chooses a player he/she likes to support if any. Then The Supporting Game Master will teach the Game Sage a little bit of how to do his job. Anwsering tickets or whatever else GMs do. and as a reward to the Game Sages they get a cool GS tag beside there name XD or maybe a reduced fee to city of heroes. Can a GM or Dev anwser if that would be possible?
