Issue 16 and Lightslinger
Rerolling as a Peacebringer would make more sense =)
But other than that, looks like Energy > Radiation for your concept
I'd go with Radiation. The sound effects of Energy don't really mesh with being hit by light. The Radiation animations and graphics seem more subtle, which to me, goes with your concept more.
Not only that, but you get X-Ray Beam
I'd reroll as a Rad/EM. The animations, blast graphics and secondary effects would all be more thematic.

-I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use. - Galileo Galilei
-When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. - Thomas Jefferson
Only the first two few rad blasts look like light only. Most of the higher ones have cloud effects as well.
As much as I am loving the idea of Radiation Blast, I would have to say stay with the energy/energy and change the color.
I think you'll be happier in the end as the majority of Rad Blast isn't vary lightslingish.

I'm with Veldrane on this one. Electron Haze, Neutron Bomb, and Irradiate all have more cloud-like effects, not to mention Proton Volley, Neutron Bomb, and Cosmic Burst all look a little too "bubbly" for what (it sounds like) you are thinking. I think you should stick with Energy Blast with changed colors.
@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.
I'd say stick energy.
Yeah, I'm starting to debate it more and more based on the high level rad blasts.
Now what I really need is to beat up one of those Legacy Chain jerks and take his light blasts!
Play a peacebringer.
Seriously, they don't have quite the same damage, but you get a heck of a bag of tricks at the same time, even if you stay human only. And the blasts and melee attacks look just amazing - and imo, they look a lot like light attacks. I so can't wait to get a hero level 50 so that *I* can do that.

This is what it means to be a tank!
Stick with recoloured Energy.
Neutrino Bolt, XRay Eyes and Irradiate are all kind of light-like.
Electron haze is a bit cloudy.
Neutron Bomb involves throwing a glowing beachball that makes a little mushroom cloud when it lands.
And all thet -Def isnt too hot when you have Aim and Build Up, apart from allowing you to slot certain IOs.

Lightslinger is my main, he was created in Issue 7. He is a hero who, as implied by his name, slings blasts of light. I'd always thought "When we get PC I'll tint his Energy/Energy attacks light yellow and he'll be perfect!"
Now, the awesomeness that is Issue 16 has revealed that Blasters are getting Radiation Blast.
So tell me, Blaster sages. Would it not make more sense for Lightslinger to have yellow radiation blasts as opposed to yellow energy blasts?
(The reason I'm asking is this is going to involve re-rolling my main from a level 50 and purchasing a rename token, so its a pretty big deal for me)

Considering that the Legacy Chain light blasts are clearly from the Energy Blast animations and effects, stick with energy.
Or roll a Peacebringer.
Radiation Blast is uber cool but the particle effects don't bring to mind "light". Depending on which powers get proliferated, Rad could include some real "smoky" "foggy" effects like in Irradiate.
Throwing my vote in for Psi/MM blaster or */Psi defender or */Psi dominator.
Telekinetic Blast, Telekinetic Thrust and Psychic Scream have that insta-hitting head-flash thing, just like Blind from Illusion Control. The other attacks have funky projectile graphics, but the little circles kind of match your costume. Speaking of circles, did you know Subdue/Subdual is my favorite power to watch and contemplate, like a lava lamp?
Energy.
I'd have to vote for Energy as well.

Thanks for the help everyone, after pouring over all the new i16 screen shots, news, and all your advice Lightslinger will be staying Energy/Energy.
That doesn't mean I won't be rolling a Rad/EM post haste
I'd vote for NRG/ too.
i'd say, white yellowish fire even if fire breath won't fit
(i think that's what legacy chain dudes have)
For as long as Sonarr has existed, her powers have been sound-based, emitted from her entire body, and controlled and focused through strength of will -- think "Dazzler", only with sound instead of light.
When I started playing CoH, there was no Sonics option, so I went with Energy^2, which was as close as I figured I was going to get. I anticipated the Sonic Blaster sets, and hoped they'd mesh with how I envisioned the character, but was disappointed to learn that the Devs vision of Sonics was grounded vocally, a la Banshee or Siryn. I was disappointed by this, but also relieved that I wouldn't be tempted to relaunch my character a second time.
My advice would be, go with what feels best to you. Heck, recreate Lightslinger on Test server as a Radiation blaster, and see how it looks and sounds. Imagining how it'll work is good, but experience in the game via experimentation will go long way towards helping you make that decision.
And if you *do* choose to relaunch Lightslinger, save your money: delete the original first, then recycle the name from the start. And before you delete, make ABSOLUTELY sure that you go to a Tailor and save each of your costumes! Relaunching and securing the name will take you less than a minute, as all you need to do is load one of your saved costumes! If you'd rather go the paid name-change route, for insurance and peace of mind, then do that, of course. :)
Whatever you do, just have fun with it!

I'd put off a final decision until Issue 16 goes to open beta and you can actually see what Eng/Eng, Psi/MM, Rad/Eng, etc. look like when color shifted to bright yellow-white. There could be some surprises yet.
WildCat4Ever: And if his lvl 50 blaster is fully io'd out he should just delete it? Even if I got bored with one of my 50's and for some reason wanted to reroll a new toon with that name, i wouldn't delete them. I don't use purple's and i have 2 toons with over 500m inf spent on them. Deleting seems like a pretty bad idea in that case.
Whether you delete it or not, I'd say Radiation Blast and Energy Blast make sense conceptually.
Light technically is a form of radiation. Therefore, yellow colored light would make sense, because you are flinging a form of radiation.
Light also can be seen as energy.
I'd say wait till I16 and see which one looks better and decide off that.

As for saving tricked out enhancement sets if you ever *did* want to delete and relaunch a high-level character -- use Respecs. I was going to suggest putting them in SG storage (he'd have to trust his teammates absolutely!), but as an alternative, I suppose he could keep the original character active, and use that as his storage method. Which would be an argument for not deleting that character entirely.
Ultimately, it's up to whatever he decides is best!

I don't know. Light is energy, while only light from the sun is major radiation. So if you change to a radiation blaster, you would probably call yourself sunslinger instead of lightslinger. Either way, it's up to you. I'm being technical.
Never delete a 50. Server transfer it elsewhere. 4 of my 50s only exist on the test server because I got tired of them before there was a server transfer option.
