so just got to level 12 on my claw/da scrapper on virtue and so far my experience has been pretty good.

1-8 i basically did solo, but once i moved into hollows i got invited to some mission running teams and this is where the real fun is. I shot up to 12 really quickly.

I like the combat since it usually quick and has a lot of eye candy when you have a big group of people attacking the same things.

I love the look of the hollows, so much better running around there then Atlas park.

The only thing i wish there was more of, is chatter in broadcast. All i usually see if everyone looking for AEs.

Anyway, if anyone is on and is bored and whats to group my names Aiion see you guys in game!

Hey there and welcome to the game Glad you are one of the people that do like to chat and team a lot.

In regards to more broadcast chat, people tend to have come to the conclusion that the majority dont like broadcast being used for something that everybody could see. People tend to use it for event notifications/team searching or recruitings/sg related objectives and short "congrats" to people who have just achieved something special.

I like you have recently joined [though i have been in the EU so past experiences] so would be happy to level a new character up on virtue and team with you Main thing though, is that if you have ANY questions, no matter how "noobish" it might seem, just ask and we'll answer them.

So . . . . come across frostfire yet?

I think the kind of chatter you're looking for might be provided by a SG or, if not that, a global channel. (I run a solo SG so nobody talks to me in SG chat, but I'm part of several global channels). Check the forum for the server you're on, most of them list the major channels, and there's usually several good ones per server.

Welcome! It makes me happy to know that new players are enjoying the game, especially that you're out there soloing and teaming in the real-world, taking down real villains.

The Architect Entertainment system, much like video games in the real world, seems to have proven very popular (with issues). This being said, it's nice to know there are new players exploring the many other aspects of the game that exist outside AE.

As said above, if you have any 'newbie' questions, feel free to ask, the Player Questions section of the Forums is a good place to get answers and feedback on all sorts of issues.

Again, welcome!

Actually, i did frostfire with a team yesterday. It was really fun and got me about a level and a half. Though fighting him wasn't very special since he died in about 30 seconds.

I stalked you and saw you rolled on Virtue. There is a lot less AE Farm chatter in global channels. Some of the big ones on Virtue are...

/chanjoin VU2009
/chanjoin "Virtue TFs"
/chanjoin Virtuebadges09
/chanjoin "Virtue LFG Alpha"

Some of these channels have specific purposes. I play on several servers and am kind of quirky. My playstyle is very fast paced, very chaotic, and solely done for the purpose of seeing stuff blow up. I can answer questions on any topics you like in game and often play on virtue

Yeah definitely pick a global channel or two - go down to the server forum and check around for a thread on that. You will be amazed at the conversations you find in some

Welcome to the game, and I'm SO glad you're enjoying the Hollows - if you're interested in one particular way of scooting around the game and leveling up in a certain order try this:

You've done the Hollows (or will soon finish - I recommend doing all the contacts in order) you'll get to around level 15-16.

At that point, head over to Faultline. Now, it's a little different there, as some of the story arcs you'll encounter may have a bit of a break in levels. But basically, 16-20ish at Faultline.

Head over to Striga! It's another 'hazard zone' with its own shortish set of contact arcs. This will generally get you from around 20ish to 25-26ish.

CROATOA! And then... well, there's also the Midnighter's arc, the Rikti War Zone, and plenty of other stuff just in the main zones.

But sometimes it's fun to completely bypass the "standard zones" and head through all the hazard zones instead. A benefit to this on hero-side is that those newer zones and upgraded ones (faultline was upgraded and then the Hollows too) have more coherent story arcs, as well as better storytelling in general. Plus, with those zones, you STAY in the zone for a while. With standard contacts, you may find yourself run ragged crossing all manner of zones for missions.

Try him solo or with a duo on your next character.

(Be sure to bring a couple of Lucks and Break Frees when you try it, though. When he mezzes you before you have killed any of the guys around him, then he summons both pets, and then all six of them whale on you at once, don't say you weren't warned. )

Besides, the real fun of the Frostfire mission isn't Frostfire, it's the ice skating.

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

Welcome to COH.

Another option is to start doing the Signature Heroes Task Forces, starting with Positron TF in Steel Canyon. At lower levels, you can level pretty quick and even gain some levels at the higher level TF's.

Welcome to the game!

I also would like to re-iterate the advice about finding global channels for your server. Global channels tend to be much more active areas for conversation, and can get you involved in a much larger number of fun grouping activities faster than just about any other method.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the game? The OP has a forum reg date of 2006. What gives?

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I agree that global channels, and global friends help open the possibilities outside the broadcast channel. I would also like to point out that the OP made a really good decision to make intelligent posts here in the forums. I was referred to my first two supergroups through the forums. I started the Triumphant Defenders through contacting Kleine Teufel. We each corresponded among ourselves after posting in the forums.

The forums get a lot of bad press, but I admire the way the community really came together as it usually does when not confronted by brash, know-it-all postings. There is more than: Doom, AE farm posts and exploits to talk about. Good job everyone.

I noticed it, but the answer seemed obvious to me (after I thought about it)... there have been quite a few people who have come back to check out what the game's like these days within the last six months.

[/ QUOTE ]well, glad you are here, as you may have seen this weekend there are going to be alien invasions, those are fun, basically you will get a note in your chat box(make sure you have hero/villain event messages enabled) about space ships going to zone x, first there are bombing runs where the aliens will drop bombs in certain places, some wont explode and smashing a number of them will get you a badge, try and get ona team, since they have high hit points and regen fora solist. then the aliens(rikti) will beam down en masse and beating down a bunch of them will get you a badge..and if you get a big enough group, there will be big robotech looking things that will get you the final badge to get you an accolade power thats nice vurses psi enemies, plus its fun to see 20 or so heroes standing around together blasting the heck out of a bunch of aliens porting down..but expect some lag..and now expect a lot more. but you may want to check it out.

Sounds familiar. I think I'm up to the 12 month veteran badge, but it's an off an on experience.

I always get to the point of missing my EM/Invul tanker. Super jumping into a group of 10+ mobs at a time is just too cool.
