I have never re-rolled a level 50. A level 50, by my estimation, represents enough investment of time and effort to be worth saving somehow, even if you have to shell out for a server transfer or purchasing extra slots.
That's what I did with my Fire/EM tanker, after she lost first her primary, then her secondary: moved her to Champion, where she can now participate in Tanker Tuesdays, and at least gets played once a month.

I think the highest I've rerolled was mid 20s. I wouldn't reroll a 50. I'd make a new character, play to 50, then MAYBE pay for a couple name changes if I was convinced I wanted the new character with the old name, but I wouldn't reroll. That's particularly true if you're only switching from DM/SR to DM/SD because DM/SD is flavor of the month. There's no reason to assume it'll still be on top in another issue or two.

just be sure to sell off all the basics (SO's, IO's, ect...) pretty easy to do with a respec, and use that respec to collect up any of the good stuff you want to keep (HO's, Unique's, IO set's,Purples, ect...) may need a few respec's if you purp'd out or somthing, clear out and transfer your inventory (Vault, Auction House, ect...) use up all the ticket's, merit's, V-merit's, ect... that you may have... and either have a trusted friend help you with a transfer, or stock it up in community base bin's that you'll have access to on other toons, or use a second account, ect...

I was discussing this with my wife last night.
Hero side, if they have done the Positron TF, they will never be deleted.
Villain side, if I start working on the accolades, they will never get rerolled. The only time I even go into a pvp zone is to get the accolades, why would i reroll after spending 5 hours in Sirens Call or a day and a half logged in resting while a minion hits me to get 10million points of damage.
Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?
I've contemplated turning my BS/Regen into a Kat/Regen, but if I did, I'd probably keep the original character and just remake him on another server. Only level 50 I deleted was my fire tanker in a premature hissy fit, which I regret. Still, he remains dead, not re-invented.

Rerolled for what purpose? If it's just because you like the character's name and concept I would just pay the 10 bucks to rename him then roll a new character with the name.

I did the same thing with my claws/reg when they announced the continuing string of nerfs *ahem* adjustments. Was drunk during a hami raid and deleted good ole Gobbledygook.

Because I would like to combine them as part of a concept, they were one person originally until their mind was shattered into different personalities when they faced Rularuu. Now thanks to the midnight squad and vanguard they have become one person, but now I'm considering instead of dm/sd, to fire/sd because I'm not crazy about dm's animations. I just don't know how I would fit that in there.... Ahh!!!

Hmm, how many level 50 scrappers have I deleted... 2 I think. Neither of them had names I felt really attached to, both of them had the 4 main accolades.
I currently have 5 level 50 scrappers, 1 is stripped of most of her enhancements, and only still exists because she's my common IO crafter, and another one only still exists until I come up with another cool concept for the name Bonespray.
Would I delete a scrapper? If I liked the name, wanted to use it for another concept, and didn't play the other one anymore? Hell yeah I would.
Currently, my only lvl 50 villain, is my fortunata, because my one and only previous lvl 50 villain has been rerolled so many times, and I think Maiden Mayhem has finally found the perfect combo of SS/SD... maybe. She's only level 4.
The highest I ever re-rolled a character was 28. My fire/WP became a fire/SR.

I am in the process of stripping two of my scrappers just to many lvl 50's and not time to play them all so my pines/da and my dm/da sit retired

Never. I only have three of them. Sometimes I doubt their concepts, and think that other sets, and even ATs, could fit them better... but level 50 is too great an achievement, in my mind, to simply delete. But, I don't have befarmed level 50s. There's a chance I'd delete them, if I did. The three fifties I DO have each took a significant amount of time to achieve.
The first took 8~ months
The second took 4~ months
And the third took a little over 1 month
No. I'd never delete my 50's! I've payed for server tansferes and name changes to keep using them.
See that list of 50's? DB/WP -> WP/EM -> FIRE/WP -> ILL/RAD -> DM/SR -> COLD/ICE -> DB/SR (that doesn't include the other ATs that my main RP toon is in). ^_^
Some of them don't work for her anymore for one reason or another...but once I hit 50...nooo...it's stay.

I laughed at this. But, I almost agree. I did delete a 36 elec/elec blaster because of the nerfs. It had done all the TF's to that point. I still have not recreated one. I would not delete a toon now who ahd done Posi, I really hate that TF.

I rerolled my 50 DB/Inv as a DB/WP. Even with the rename, it wouldn't feel right to have two characters with the same playstyle so there was no point keeping the Invul.
Now I'm looking at DB/DA...

Haha! Weeelll, all I'll say in this regard is that you truly have my respect for playing this close to your concept! Could the story be altered in such a way as to keep both of the old toons around? Could copies of both psyches be created and combined, in effect reuniting the old versions in a new hero but NOT destroying the originals?
Ya know, I don't like DM animations much myself. I particularly am not fond of MG. I'd love to see that updated to an animation where the player reaches forward with a large negative energy fist surrounding his own and just grabs the opponent, then lets go but the ghostly fist remains crushing the critter!
Not quite what you meant, but the only one I rerolled was a kat/SR on Virtue, which I liked so much I rerolled it as a kat/SR on Victory
Otherwise I've not rerolled anything much above about level 10 and nothing at all above 20, which could be why I have 145 toons lying around on one account.

It's very Comic Book to have the original Psyche Shards still be out there in limbo waiting in the wings for Alan Moore or Niel Gaiman (or you) to do something with them.
If you need help coming up with a name for the new combined incarnation let us know.

I would never do it now, but before server transfers, extra character slots, and IO's, I had deleted two 50's, two 45ish, and a 42 (various AT's, one 50 was a Kat/Dark). I was a big altaholic, and hitting 50 pretty much meant the toon was retired. I much preferred the ride to 50 than actually playing 50's, as I felt like there was nowhere else to go with them, and I needed space to make new tooons.
Nowadays, I would pay for extra slots or transfers. With IO's, I feel like you always have options to tweak or even remake your toons almost any way you want, and I still get a lot of mileage from most of my current 50's. But it wasn't an option back then, and honestly, I don't really regret it.

Those can be done while you are sleep. Start an ourobos arc and you won't get logged off.
Back on topic, I deleted my lvl 50 fire/fire/pyre tanker. I didn't have the IO knowledge I have now and I had run out of spce on virtue when i11 went live. I had end issues even with stamina and consume. The last straw was when I needed help with maria jenkins arc because I couldn't solo them without running out of end like I was in my pre 20s. 7 toggles and sprint. Will Power was calling me. I had already used my last slots to roll my DB/WP brute and my DM/WP scrapper the day i11 went live. So... I re rolled that toggle heavy end hog to a WP/fire/pyre. That was my 2nd alt made and 3rd to 50. Its lvl 50 now but, as I said before in another thread, I'm never doing that again.

Don't regret it one bit, even though it was my first and oldest character. Stronger, Faster and Funner. Gave me an excuse to run all the old school TF's/Trials again.
