Interesting trailor comments

After following the link to watch the 15th Anninversary video (which I thought was 'meh' myself - where is that one player who does those things, she rocks) I began reading the comments from that website about COX.

Seemed the majority commented on how the end character was Bison (a toon in Street Fighter) and how the graphics in the game were poor. A few did say they would play the game - if it were free, or that it was an awesome game - around issue 3.

Sometimes, for me at least, I spend too much time reading our boards and hearing what regular players feel about the game, and not hear different perspectives from people outside the game. Again, I just found that to be interesting.

Well, he really DOES look like M Bison. Except he sports the 5th Column emblem, which he probably shouldn't. I mean, he was Amerika Korps, and was put on ice before Requiem came out of hiding with the Column.

I wish he appeared without his hat at first, but in the last mission he says "OK, I'M GOING TO START FIGHTING...SERIOUSLY." (alternately: FINALLY, FOUND MY HAT) and pulls the visor down to cover his eyes. At that point you realize, "oh god we're about to get owned, son"

That would be interesting, if not for the fact that most people leaving comments on free-account video sites are idiots. I've made it a point to NEVER read user comments on GameTrailers, for instance. Either they're the uninteresting "look cool" or "meh, seen it" kind, or they're so low-brow and unintelligent that them make me shut down my browser.

Not to say how people not playing the game feel isn't important. In fact, a lot of my friends who've left the game hold much the same sentiment - the game is getting old and the graphics are dated. And they're right. I wouldn't hold comments on a trailer in very high regard, though. People have those reactions to EVERYTHING.

How can you say the graphics are dated? Have you guys not played WoW? That came looks like it belongs on a supernintendo. This game blows that game away graphically. No contest whatsoever.

Agreed, CoX is pretty spiffy when it comes to its graphics... just because the designers were ahead of their time back in the day, doesn't mean the game looks dated.

Agreed, CoX is pretty spiffy when it comes to its graphics... just because the designers were ahead of their time back in the day, doesn't mean the game looks dated.

"Perspectives" like the ones on the GameTrailers site tend to be prevalent (if you want similar perspectives, read the comments on NCsoftNorCal's YouTube profile, on any video they post there, or on Massively.com after any CoH article they do).

To quote Vaarsuvius from THE ORDER OF THE STICK, I'd swear that most of these people are "horrible, loathesome, supremely selfish creatures who behave contemptibly, laugh at the pain of others, have no manners whatsoever, and whose mental acuity would be compared unfavorably to that of a table."

Ergo, I tend to ignore most of what they say, because even when they have valid points (Reichsman looks like Bison, the graphics are dated, etc), they generally present their opinions in such a grossly stupid way.

Re: the trailer itself, David and the gang appear to be going for a consistent 'look' to the newer trailers for the game (see the Issue 14 trailer, the 5th anniversary 'shout-out' to the players, and the Mission Architect Tutorials), and all in all, it's a good trailer that covers all the bases of the new issue.

As for 'that one player who does those things', I think you're talking about me... to answer your question, I 'retired' from making CoH trailers just before Issue 14.

Yes, SNES graphics were amazing. I still say that console held the pinnacle of 2D gaming. Starwing (Star Fox to you Yanktownians) was pretty smooth for its primitive polygons too.

free posting sites tend to exist to prove thomas hobbes right. perspectives are nice when they come from qualified sources, sites like that and youtube are filled with subhuman morlocks with a tenuous grasp of the rational thought and the english language. Sounds harsh, but thats how it is.
